Beautiful high-quality home with a few outstanding issues to resolve

Overall great design and high quality but there have been a few issues that have come up. Most have been resolved in a professional and timely manner or hopefully will be soon. One outstanding item that we discovered was an issue with the property line and placement of the retaining wall and fence. Unfortunately, Highland was made aware of the issue but never brought it to our attention. We actually discovered the issue while hiring a pool company and a company to install and whole house generator. I brought this up with Highland management three weeks ago and am still waiting for resolution ...

The 40 ft lot is just too small. The house needs just a few feet more width for the rooms to not be awkward sized. The garages are very small. There are a lot of nice features as well. Builders is very responsive to warranty requests.

My experience with my new home is good and could be better if the list of pending items are not so high! When I bought the house, the seller mentioned the inspection process and every item that was not in accordance with my expectation would be fixed. I walked through the house, and we found lots of items that needed to be fixed and unfortunately lots of the items were not solved and even after 1 month, we still have items to be fixed. My second point is related to house cleaning. The carpets, garage and attic were very dirty with dust, and material left behind by the crew. My expectation ...

Overall a great experience with building. Construction manager was on top of most things and good build out. With the rush towards the end we didn’t get the full ready to move in experience. We still have a few things that need to be worked on.

Not as well as my pervious Highland Home

This was our second Highland Home and the fit and finishes inside where not done as well as our previous home. We were not allowed to change much of anything in reference to colors and options. There was also a lot of trim and paint problems such as doors and drawers not fitting and closing as they should and fitting was off in numerous places. You expect better quality for the price point.

Highland Homes - Overall, we had a good homebuying experience.

Overall, we had a good homebuying experience. Unfortunately some of the workmanship was sloppy and not attentive to detail and involved a lot of fixes after the fact (e.g. all electrical switches and caps covered in paint, caulking issues, lot of spaces missing paint, uneven flooring, stair balusters covered in spray paint, trims around door and windows unevenly cut, protruding nails throughout the house, concrete in front of house is full of cracks and chips, empty space left between caps and pipes). My friend's Highland Homes did not have this many issues. We do recognize that Highland ...

Sloppy Sub Contractors

During my walk through, I had addressed a few issues as well as poor paint job. The subcontractors removed the tape and did not address most of the issues. Now due to COVID I can’t get the subcontractors to come back and address the issues that should’ve been taken care of before closing.

Had to call twice now for breaker keeps blowing. Electrician keeps coming out saying there is no issues. So guess we will just have to get used to resetting the breaker.

Right Decision to choose Highlandhomes

we believe we made the right decision in choosing highland homes. The best thing is that they fixed, corrected all the items which were reported in inspection before the closing. Their work wise we don't have any problems, it might be too early to give a review bcos it takes more time for us to see if we have any concerns about the purchase. But we would definitely recommend other to highland homes.

I do love the Dorset townhome but there were some issues like shower and toilet backing up because a test ball was left in the plumbing. Roof leaking after a couple of days of rain. These were the worst problems. All others were minor. When I purchased my last home I received a manual with detailed information on my home. Take note Highland.

Great Experience At Highland Homes

Our experience with buying a Highland Home was great. Walter, Danny and the sales staff did a very good job explaining the process and showing us the home. The builder, Dakota, was great and continues to assist us with questions! A piece of advice - spend 2 trips at the design center and take your time. Be very specific about what you want and make no assumptions.

Materials used are great. People working at HIGHLAND are very respectful and responsive. Quality of workmanship is below average. Not sure if this is related to Pandemic labor shortage. Overall a good experience buying and closing, except workmanship is not upto the mark.

For a new build it would have been nice if it was cleaned up more prior to moving in. Decent responsiveness from the builder towards issues although it took some repeated requests and convincing for a few things.

Highland Homes - I bought an inventory home that was custom built for someone

I bought an inventory home that was custom built for someone else. It had been ready for sometime so I thought everything would be check and ready for move in. I’ve had a few service calls and a lot of Sheetrock break around the bullnose corners. This isn’t my first time buying a new home but it is my first time having build issues. Also numerous door knobs and ripped off form improper installation, doors barely on hinges. Not what I thought a Neary 800k home would be.
