Not the best experience for first time home buyers. Unprofessionalism from sales agent to the builder.

We had an excellent experience with Highland Homes. We were buying from out of state. Mac and Dakota kept us up to date regularly and answered questions quickly when we asked them. We are in our home now and love it. They continue to be responsive to our needs. Upon selecting a builder, I was worried, because so many of them had bad reviews. Highland seemed to have the best, that I saw. And, having been thru the experience with them, they deserve high marks. We are very satisfied customers.

It took 8 months to build and I went through multiple construction managers. There wasn’t transparency during the process and my closing date changed due to delays. Communication was not the best and the sales agent was helpful at the beginning but after the sales contract was signed, she was no longer useful or informative about what was going on. Overall, the design process was the best part of purchasing my home.

I was told by that guy this is not the first home I’ve purchased, things are not going to be perfect, and I will have to learn to do some things for myself, in shock I replied, the 1st home was a short sale sold as is with expected issues, I was not expecting issues with a new house built from the ground up, I also shared with the realtor that I think all the blue tape I put up for repairs or touch ups was all pulled off with bare minimum being done

Kim and Stefanie were great. Very helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. Jose fixed any issues I had as soon as I brought them to his attention. Very satisfied with my home so far. I have recommended many friend to buy a highland home.

The lay out of the home is just right for us. The location is spot on for what we were looking for. Neighbors are great as well which is good. The issue is the details. The craftsmanship work done for the caulking around the floor trim is the worst I’ve ever seen, (not our first home build) door handles falling off, shower curtain rods not installed, just laying on top of tile till they fall, Stove not wired correctly, short cuts taken on trim work around doors and kitchen. Grout work is not professional either. We understand things happen and it can never be perfect, but this is just small detail work that a craftsman should be skilled in and take pride in, if a door handle can’t be put on correctly then how do we know the foundation or walls or roof was done correctly? We only listed a small amount of the issues found. With that said, they have come and fixed the issues which is good but with the history and amount of homes they do, we should be farther along with some pride in the work. The finance part of our home buying was fantastic. No complaints there, but the construction part of the home buying is horrible. The workmanship of our house is very poor and the value for the price paid is not worth it. The response to issues is a joke. I have purchased homes before and this is by far the worst experience I have ever encountered. Highland should be ashamed of presenting their homes to buyers like this. Truly a lack of customer service. Customer service is what makes America great. Low grade craftsmenship especially to the exterior fof the house. Brick and motar poorly done.

I've had 4 builds in under15 years and this has been my worst experience. (My previous builders were Lennar, Castle Rock, and Long Lake Ltd...wonder builders, experience, and quality of work) COVID-19 and logistics had no bearing on oversight/quality of craftsmanship. (Excuse used "TRUST THE PROCESS" it will be corrected in the end...I can't trust the process when I don't have experienced Project Management/Oversight). I've been in my home 90 days and still have unfinished work. Highland Meridiana will be receiving a poor BBB Report to make customers aware... Foundation: Blueprints not followed I even told the PM prior to them pour the foundation yet they had to tear-up bust bathroom foundation to move tub plumbing. Foundation poured on raining misty day my back porch and garage are horribly finished due to weather conditions. Driveway: Poorly done cracks/major breaks (redone because I requested it. Structure: Poor Material Used damaged lumber used (identified by me and external inspector) Dry Wall had severe waives in master bedroom I Identified and had them redo. Craftsmanship: Rework/Sloppy work, unable to make proper 45 degree cuts to form 90 degree angles. Front window over garage was not level (spouse identified...PM swore it was taping...yet after putting a level on it it was deemed un-level. Arched windows were not insulated properly...I identified prior to dry walling, Door Frames broken in 3 rooms they attempted to just paint over or add caulking to hide again I identified and had them correct the issue. Second story floors not screwed securely squeaky/sounded like paper when walking on them. Carpet not properly stretched seams in most notable places Dripping paint....redo, loose stair treads redo; bad cabinets redo, as you can see it a theme of poor quality work with constant rework. Front door unlevel insects able to enter through top. Water sprinkler system two zones failed, rewire. Lights flicker in home when AC or Vacuum turns on, Garage door, squeak tremendously with large knocking sound. Dishwasher repaired 3 times, then finally replaced. Vent hood installers 3 separate trades 90 days still not installed...(Parts on back order...etc ordering wrong parts...lack of oversight) $700K Lemon...I wish there was a Lemon Law for Homes I would give this one back if SO! Love our home but there are few issues I would loved to have addressed. After moving in we found a couple of minor flaws that I wish we could have fixed. For example, our driveway and pathway to our front door is not great. There are small imprints that are visible in the concrete. In our hallway, we have two light switches that control the same light. One of the switches should control the kitchen light. I was not aware of this issue at the time of our walkthrough. I was also not aware that I could have asked to have the driveway repaired prior to moving in. These are basically the only two issues I have with our home. During the entire process, the sales team and construction team kept in touch with me and were quick to assist me with any questions/concerns that I had. They finished my home on time and have remained in good communication to address any of my needs since closing.

Build was fast and easy. Quality of material lacks and would have really liked a final clean to have the House ready to move in.

This is my second Highland home that I have purchased. Out of all the homes on the market at this price point,, Highland Homes definitely has the best quality of home. The service at the sales center from Glenn is A+, and also the project manager Tommy is extremely attentive to all of your needs. I’ve been in my home for several months now, and had my first warranty call for a minor issue. Within hours Highland Homes was in contact with me scheduling the repair. Post purchase experience so far has been outstanding. I highly recommend Highland Homes.

Love our new home. Had a few minor issue, but customer service response time was quick and they a have been addressing all of our issues in a timely manner.

I'll start with my wife was involved in the Sales portion of the house buying experience. That not surprisingly went off without a hitch. The financing portion of the sale was also amazing. Now is where everything starts to fall apart a bit. My wife put in our first warranty issue, and we still don't have a functioning video doorbell. We had a tech come out and get the garage door functional but not the camera after the first doorbell was replaced due to a humming sound. All other issues were fixed on her first ticket. Now is where I come into the fold. I started looking at various things around the house and was starting to find a lot of issues especially with the drywall. The other issues were cracked tile, paint, grout in the bathroom showers, carpet, and some other issues. The initial part of the process was handled within the time frame promised. The paint contractor and his wife came out multiple times to fix several issues throughout the house. The issue they are having to fix over and over are the cracks in the corners of just every room. He also fixed some other minor dry wall issues here and there. The grout issue took a week or more to get that person out. The plumber who came out was on top of his issues really quick and resolved them quickly. The real issue was taking 3 weeks to get a guy out to repair some cracked tile. He pulled the toilet and set it in the tub. Fixed the three cracked tiles originally reported one being under the toilet. Issue there were two more cracked tiles under the toilet that the plumber pointed out when he came to put the toilet back in. Another week or two goes by and they finally get back out to fix the other two tiles. I went out of town on vacation and the tub where the toilet was left is now damaged and will need to put in another ticket on that. The tubs were also left with grout all over them without exception. With the exception of the cabinet company, the low voltage company and the carpet company people have showed up unannounced to do a repair, not a huge issue for me as I am unemployed currently, but I would guess this would be a huge issue for people who are working outside the home. I was also consistently no showed when I was told somebody would be here to fix the issues. I feel a lot of my issues could have been resolved upfront with a better-quality control up front. Was a good experience.. Maybe to be more clear on the process for those that do not have experience (it is our first house)

From initial contact to post-closing issue resolution, Highland has been great to work with. Would definitely recommend them. One suggestion: for the study/office, having a pre-wired (or more) Cat5 drop would be ideal. For those that work from home, hard-wiring the computer to internet connections is infinitely better.

By purchasing the model home. We did find some odds and ends that was damage which we understood because the house was a model home. But the garage was new and broke in a couple weeks. I can say Highland did not Wasted no time making sure the contractor took care of it ASAP. Other then that we love our home.

We were very happy with our homebuilding experience. In an era of shortages and delays, everything was on time and on budget. Our contact at Highland Homes was very knowledgeable and they were willing to work with us on some floorplan customizations that really made the home ours. We are enjoying getting settled!

Worst experience buying a new home. Through out the process Still trying to get things fixed Do not listen and do not care Just check the box

Still waiting(3months after closing)on my driveway and sidewalks to be properly powewashed. It still has red dirt stains on brandnew sidewalk and brandnew community. Other craftsmanship issues on interior of my home is becoming apparent. Other builders in same community have done much better job with powerwashing after completion of construction. Please address this issue as soon as possible. Highland home directly across street has same issue.

We had a great experience with Highland Homes. We had a tight moving window, and our house was finished and ready to move in right when we needed it to be. Thanks to all the Highland Team for making it happen!
