I am writing to express my concerns regarding the workmanship on our new home. While we understand that no home is without minor imperfections, my husband and I have encountered several issues that have left us disappointed, given the significant investment we made. During the construction process, we visited the site regularly and noticed some concerning behaviors and quality issues: *We frequently saw beer cans scattered around the site. *There was evidence of smoking inside our home, even though we are non- smokers. We brought several issues to the attention of the construction manager and he promised they would be fixed and till this day their still not fixed. * improperly installed items *paint on the floor, bathroom fixtures, lights crooked (not slightly crooked) *front door installed incorrectly *the list goes on For the amount of money we paid, it feels as though it's a starter home. Have to done your own servery because many issues left and after closing last 2 months still come up here and there

Overall our house is beautiful. Several issues that i need to mention. Building it took a year to finish( delays due to HOA not approving our choices of exterior color of bricks). Safety issues during the actual building of the house such as sheet racks not properly piled and nails lying on the floors. Upon moving in several bathtub faucets are loose and one was actually leaking. Wirings for internet was not working ( was spliced during construction). Doorbell was put to low for cameras to be installed and wires were knicked and touching each other that apparently caused chime box to short circuit and almost causing a fire. Cracks on both 1 car and 2 car garages seem to getting bigger. Home pro security key pad not sensing all the sensors in the house 1 day after it was installed so as of this time we have no security alarm when doors and windows are opened and it takes 1 month to schedule repairs .Jim has been very receptive to all of these issues but for the price of the house most of these issues should not happen in my opinion. Jack and Ken were responsive up until the day I received my keys. After that, I feel like their response to issues became little to non existent. There are things that need to be fixed or addressed. My disappointment grew after they passed over my keys. I submitted my warranty request and hadn’t heard anything regarding the request.

Finish work and muniltipul other problems found with the house.

From the beginning of the process, December 2019, Megan, our sales rep, went above and beyond to answer our questions or concerns that we had. We purchased our property before our section of the neighborhood had been started and before Highland officially started building in the neighborhood so there were growing pains associated with that. The whole process could have been streamlined had we known every option that was available from the start. Throughout the whole process we had to essentially inundate our sales rep with questions about things we could have put in the house, things that are now readily available to all purchases, ie. Black exterior and interior windows. Megan did her best to get our questions answered asap but it seemed like corporate didn't have the answers themselves. Again, Megan went above and beyond and did an amazing job. Overall quality of the house...some aspects are good and others not so much. The trim work around the house is sub par and cheap. The caulking used to seal has already started splitting, seams and taping on the drywall have started splitting, which was explained to us by our construction manager is not covered to have repaired by highland since its from settling. Correction tape and floating issues are covered but not seems in the caulking and nail pops. One of our corners in the kitchen trim is wonky and not plum, neither is the wall. Exterior paint job is spotty and shotty and the trades used throughout the process have zero respectability in their work. Touch up done on trim around the house was not painted properly after repairs were made to it. Stain in the master bathroom tub hasn't been able to be removed. Cracks on the corners of walls, and the list goes on. For a company that I've heard nothing but good things about some of the work quality is lower than builder grade at best. Need to be more attentive to the trades they hire and be on-site more to make sure they're doing their jobs and cleaning up their trash. The materials used in the house are acceptable, but there is no good construction team to bring out the best in them. There are too many areas in the house that need improvement, many walls do not look new, and the attitude of the house inspection supervisor is extremely bad!

Poor quality - I guess this must be acceptable and normal for Houston quality level , and Highland is doing good based on the Houston quality level measurements. But if you want to compare it with somewhere else (my case Canada), way poor quality specially in finial finishing , touching , cleanness ...

Our family fell in love with Highland's floor plans and overall design. It was different from the other model homes we visited. After a long fail attempt of trying to purchase a home we decided to just build a new construction. Glenn was great from the beginning, he made us feel really comfortable and we felt really good with starting the process. Unfortunately we had a major delay with CenterPoint, as frustrating as it was we understand it wasn't Highlands fault. What we feel like was Highlands fault is that the craftmanship wasn't up to their standard. The house sat for months with imperfections that could of been address instead of when we moved in. Sheetrock and paint has been a horrible experience. We are extremely disappointed. Sheet rock was poorly done, we had waves, lines weren't straight, uneven texture throughout the whole home. You would think since the walls are textured they would be able to hide how imperfect the walls were, but nope we literally can see where all the walls were joined. I would like to think after paying so much for a home, that if they can't get it perfect it would at least come close to being perfect. We've been to homes that close half of what ours cost and their walls and paint didn't have any imperfection, because yes we are the type to look for things like that. We have base boards and door trims that look like they have a bunch of dings and a fail attempt to patch it. My door trims around look like it has acne and paint to patch it up like make-up. We were extremely proud to have Highland be our builder, but now we wouldn't recommend anyone purchasing a Highland Home. The overall materials used to build the home is good but really poor workmanship. Not so happy with the electrical planning & workmanship, kitchen cabinet install work, work around the yard that was supposed to be provided and some tile work.

I would just make sure to details. After a month being in our home we noticed more faults. For example we have several cracked tile pieces, cocking missing, sheetrock mistakes. I was not completely happy with my buy if I would do it again I would pay way more attention to details.

The house is alright. We closed fast and the house was behind schedule. We were promised things would be fixed quickly as we found them but we have found that is not always the case and have had to push to get things fixed.

We moved up our closing date on our home based on Highland saying they would be done earlier than we thought they would. Big mistake. They did not complete in time and we had no where to go and moved in. Still not done with issues and we have been here for 2 months. Not the way we planned. Cabinet company came out in about two weeks and hasn't been back in 6-7 weeks- forget holidays, we are just fed up - that is only one thing that is not fixed/completed. Only move in if completely done and hope you have no issues. I will never move around the holidays again and never take a builders word for when they will complete a home - I will wait and wait and wait to close for never having these headaches and that builder will need to wait on me and will understand since we have this story to tell. The quality of the home is very good for what was done and the sales rep was great but I can not handle the ups and downs again. I have been home since we are still in Covid protocol and that is the one thing saving us for whenever people can come, I am here to get things checked off our very long of things that need to be done. Trust me, this review is being nice since our frustrations run so high but "it is what it is" as a friend of ours always says. We just deal with it. Could have been better with details and craftsmanship, unfortunately it didn’t turn out exactly as we wanted but “good enough” which is kind of the running theme on some things. In some ways they were very radon’s ice but then they’d disappear with no communication. In the end a couple of big things were missing/didn’t turn out right and I’m tired of having to call them out to fix things.

I really like the home and overall it has good quality. There is one part which is not addressed properly. My master-bath granite counter-tops are really rough and does not look a quality product. I had raised this issue to all involved in the home process since the day it was installed, however, I was just told that this is how granite comes. I would really appreciate if they replace with better quality product. The construction manager was good overall. So far I have not seen any other issues.

They'll overcharge you for upgrades. But realistically, adding ALL the upgrades only gets you to today's standard. Most of their basic fixtures and options are dated. Don't get me wrong, everyone is very nice, but these are cookie cutter homes with yesterday's design. It'll take a lot more investment to sell.

The houses are nice. However, we are still waiting on the builder for some warranty repairs to be done (they’re really busy).

So house was extremely rushed went through a ton of repairs and touch ups to cabinets. Island needed replacement panels and work was not finished product.. Very poorly constructed but very pricy

The lay out of the home is just right for us. The location is spot on for what we were looking for. Neighbors are great as well which is good. The issue is the details. The craftsmanship work done for the caulking around the floor trim is the worst I’ve ever seen, (not our first home build) door handles falling off, shower curtain rods not installed, just laying on top of tile till they fall, Stove not wired correctly, short cuts taken on trim work around doors and kitchen. Grout work is not professional either. We understand things happen and it can never be perfect, but this is just small detail work that a craftsman should be skilled in and take pride in, if a door handle can’t be put on correctly then how do we know the foundation or walls or roof was done correctly? We only listed a small amount of the issues found. With that said, they have come and fixed the issues which is good but with the history and amount of homes they do, we should be farther along with some pride in the work. I'll start with my wife was involved in the Sales portion of the house buying experience. That not surprisingly went off without a hitch. The financing portion of the sale was also amazing. Now is where everything starts to fall apart a bit. My wife put in our first warranty issue, and we still don't have a functioning video doorbell. We had a tech come out and get the garage door functional but not the camera after the first doorbell was replaced due to a humming sound. All other issues were fixed on her first ticket. Now is where I come into the fold. I started looking at various things around the house and was starting to find a lot of issues especially with the drywall. The other issues were cracked tile, paint, grout in the bathroom showers, carpet, and some other issues. The initial part of the process was handled within the time frame promised. The paint contractor and his wife came out multiple times to fix several issues throughout the house. The issue they are having to fix over and over are the cracks in the corners of just every room. He also fixed some other minor dry wall issues here and there. The grout issue took a week or more to get that person out. The plumber who came out was on top of his issues really quick and resolved them quickly. The real issue was taking 3 weeks to get a guy out to repair some cracked tile. He pulled the toilet and set it in the tub. Fixed the three cracked tiles originally reported one being under the toilet. Issue there were two more cracked tiles under the toilet that the plumber pointed out when he came to put the toilet back in. Another week or two goes by and they finally get back out to fix the other two tiles. I went out of town on vacation and the tub where the toilet was left is now damaged and will need to put in another ticket on that. The tubs were also left with grout all over them without exception. With the exception of the cabinet company, the low voltage company and the carpet company people have showed up unannounced to do a repair, not a huge issue for me as I am unemployed currently, but I would guess this would be a huge issue for people who are working outside the home. I was also consistently no showed when I was told somebody would be here to fix the issues. I feel a lot of my issues could have been resolved upfront with a better-quality control up front. Still waiting(3months after closing)on my driveway and sidewalks to be properly powewashed. It still has red dirt stains on brandnew sidewalk and brandnew community. Other craftsmanship issues on interior of my home is becoming apparent. Other builders in same community have done much better job with powerwashing after completion of construction. Please address this issue as soon as possible. Highland home directly across street has same issue.

on your walk through "BEFORE" closing make sure everything is looked at even molding and seams on the wall. Check EVERYTHING and document it and have it done if possible before you close.

Workmanship is crap. The painters suck. My 9 year old daughter could do a better job. The trim used inside is crap. MDF garbage For a 500k + house I guess I thought it would be better.
