Day 1, sewer backed up and circuit breaker for refrigerator had to be replaced. A few days later no hot water, all flow orifices had to be removed to get sufficient flow for water heaters. This is due to the way the water heaters were installed. Wrong size circuit breaker installed for double oven. White spray paint on exterior of sliding doors and Highland will not address. Breakfast area window needed to be replaced, damaged during installation but no one told anyone. No soft close hinges on cabinet doors (HH saved $200 on that one). Black marks on white door trim from door hardware, told this was normal. I replaced all strike plates and now fixed, HH saved $40 on that. Laundry room cabinets installed so high as to not be useable, I lowered them. No cabinet pulls in Study, Laundry Room or other bathrooms. Water heaters installed as far away from kitchen and Master Bath as could be. Will need hot water recirculation. I am still crawling on the floor with a wet toothbrush getting white paint out of woodgrain. Reset exterior door strikes so door came into contact with weatherstripping. Trim carpenters don't deserve to be called carpenters. Nicks on door trim behind hinges throughout that were not filled, just painted over. Electrolux appliances not worth whatever you paid for them. Patio exterior outlet in a location that makes it unusable. Master Bath makeup vanity wall outlet installed INSIDE a cabinet. Had to shim the rear wheel of refrigerator due to floor being out of level so much. We apparently expected too much. ... More

After we closed we were treated like enemies. Once in our new home we find the quality of workmanship very poor, having to touch up most of the staircase and wood work.

Overall my home is good, but the paint job is just very poor. I did use the entire roll of blue tape at the walk thru. Touch ups were done incorrectly and my experience with the painters did ruin my excitement for my new home.

There are a number of areas where the quality of service needs improvement. However, the biggest issue i had was, there was a mouse in my home who seems to be living before us. Apart from that, for most of the issues discussed, I am still waiting for them to get fixed. Builder contact Scott is nice when we meet, but the speed at which the rest of the work gets done is quite bad. I wish some of these shouldn't need so much of follow up. Hope this review will remind about the various open requests: 1. Cabinet repairs 2. Fix the floor time 3. Final coat of paint

Need to improve on the overall finish inside the house and they need to work on the elevation of their homes. The elevation we chose looks very different than what was shown at the time of selection.

My experience started off great, but once we got close to the end to close that's when we had issue with getting items completed. The sales person was great she did the best she could to get items addressed. However, the construction team was slow and unresponsive to getting items ready for a final walkthrough. Things weren't ready until 5 minutes before we had to close.

Wasn’t a very pleasant home purchase. We had issues from the day we moved in and had to reach out many times to get things fixed.

No attention to detail. A lot of small problems that could have been quick fixes were ignored. Took too much time replacing or repairing items.

Home is average, had multiple issues upon moving in but the service and timeliness to tend to the issues were excellent. I must commend the sales/ construction management team on their service, but I would not buy nor recommend a Highland home to anyone.

I am writing to express my concerns regarding the workmanship on our new home. While we understand that no home is without minor imperfections, my husband and I have encountered several issues that have left us disappointed, given the significant investment we made. During the construction process, we visited the site regularly and noticed some concerning behaviors and quality issues: *We frequently saw beer cans scattered around the site. *There was evidence of smoking inside our home, even though we are non- smokers. We brought several issues to the attention of the construction manager and he promised they would be fixed and till this day their still not fixed. * improperly installed items *paint on the floor, bathroom fixtures, lights crooked (not slightly crooked) *front door installed incorrectly *the list goes on For the amount of money we paid, it feels as though it's a starter home. Have to done your own servery because many issues left and after closing last 2 months still come up here and there

Overall our house is beautiful. Several issues that i need to mention. Building it took a year to finish( delays due to HOA not approving our choices of exterior color of bricks). Safety issues during the actual building of the house such as sheet racks not properly piled and nails lying on the floors. Upon moving in several bathtub faucets are loose and one was actually leaking. Wirings for internet was not working ( was spliced during construction). Doorbell was put to low for cameras to be installed and wires were knicked and touching each other that apparently caused chime box to short circuit and almost causing a fire. Cracks on both 1 car and 2 car garages seem to getting bigger. Home pro security key pad not sensing all the sensors in the house 1 day after it was installed so as of this time we have no security alarm when doors and windows are opened and it takes 1 month to schedule repairs .Jim has been very receptive to all of these issues but for the price of the house most of these issues should not happen in my opinion. Jack and Ken were responsive up until the day I received my keys. After that, I feel like their response to issues became little to non existent. There are things that need to be fixed or addressed. My disappointment grew after they passed over my keys. I submitted my warranty request and hadn’t heard anything regarding the request.

Finish work and muniltipul other problems found with the house.

From the beginning of the process, December 2019, Megan, our sales rep, went above and beyond to answer our questions or concerns that we had. We purchased our property before our section of the neighborhood had been started and before Highland officially started building in the neighborhood so there were growing pains associated with that. The whole process could have been streamlined had we known every option that was available from the start. Throughout the whole process we had to essentially inundate our sales rep with questions about things we could have put in the house, things that are now readily available to all purchases, ie. Black exterior and interior windows. Megan did her best to get our questions answered asap but it seemed like corporate didn't have the answers themselves. Again, Megan went above and beyond and did an amazing job. Overall quality of the house...some aspects are good and others not so much. The trim work around the house is sub par and cheap. The caulking used to seal has already started splitting, seams and taping on the drywall have started splitting, which was explained to us by our construction manager is not covered to have repaired by highland since its from settling. Correction tape and floating issues are covered but not seems in the caulking and nail pops. One of our corners in the kitchen trim is wonky and not plum, neither is the wall. Exterior paint job is spotty and shotty and the trades used throughout the process have zero respectability in their work. Touch up done on trim around the house was not painted properly after repairs were made to it. Stain in the master bathroom tub hasn't been able to be removed. Cracks on the corners of walls, and the list goes on. For a company that I've heard nothing but good things about some of the work quality is lower than builder grade at best. Need to be more attentive to the trades they hire and be on-site more to make sure they're doing their jobs and cleaning up their trash. I absolutely love my new townhome! It's beautiful and everything I ever wanted. The problem is in the quality. I have had so many problems since closing. Not even two weeks after moving in, I was infested with mice so bad that I had to move out temporarily. They did not properly seal the attic in six places and left open gaps. I was lucky that only mice came in. Their warranty department would not reimburse me for what I had to spend to get this fixed. I could not get my shutters installed because water was coming in through the windows and had to force them to fix this. It took a long time to get the breakers to stop tripping! It seemed as if this was their first build out. They tell you that their claims department will take care of things after you close, but their claims deparment just asks questions, and sends someone to look at things (when it's convenient for them) they give you so much run around, BEWARE! There were other small glitches here and there, but never have I had such poor experience with any other builder in the past. Very disappointing considering such a beautiful townhome. Great sales people. Troy and Victor were amazing, I enjoyed working with them very much. The materials used in the house are acceptable, but there is no good construction team to bring out the best in them. There are too many areas in the house that need improvement, many walls do not look new, and the attitude of the house inspection supervisor is extremely bad!

Poor quality - I guess this must be acceptable and normal for Houston quality level , and Highland is doing good based on the Houston quality level measurements. But if you want to compare it with somewhere else (my case Canada), way poor quality specially in finial finishing , touching , cleanness ...

Our family fell in love with Highland's floor plans and overall design. It was different from the other model homes we visited. After a long fail attempt of trying to purchase a home we decided to just build a new construction. Glenn was great from the beginning, he made us feel really comfortable and we felt really good with starting the process. Unfortunately we had a major delay with CenterPoint, as frustrating as it was we understand it wasn't Highlands fault. What we feel like was Highlands fault is that the craftmanship wasn't up to their standard. The house sat for months with imperfections that could of been address instead of when we moved in. Sheetrock and paint has been a horrible experience. We are extremely disappointed. Sheet rock was poorly done, we had waves, lines weren't straight, uneven texture throughout the whole home. You would think since the walls are textured they would be able to hide how imperfect the walls were, but nope we literally can see where all the walls were joined. I would like to think after paying so much for a home, that if they can't get it perfect it would at least come close to being perfect. We've been to homes that close half of what ours cost and their walls and paint didn't have any imperfection, because yes we are the type to look for things like that. We have base boards and door trims that look like they have a bunch of dings and a fail attempt to patch it. My door trims around look like it has acne and paint to patch it up like make-up. We were extremely proud to have Highland be our builder, but now we wouldn't recommend anyone purchasing a Highland Home. The overall materials used to build the home is good but really poor workmanship. Not so happy with the electrical planning & workmanship, kitchen cabinet install work, work around the yard that was supposed to be provided and some tile work.

I would just make sure to details. After a month being in our home we noticed more faults. For example we have several cracked tile pieces, cocking missing, sheetrock mistakes. I was not completely happy with my buy if I would do it again I would pay way more attention to details.

The house is alright. We closed fast and the house was behind schedule. We were promised things would be fixed quickly as we found them but we have found that is not always the case and have had to push to get things fixed.

We moved up our closing date on our home based on Highland saying they would be done earlier than we thought they would. Big mistake. They did not complete in time and we had no where to go and moved in. Still not done with issues and we have been here for 2 months. Not the way we planned. Cabinet company came out in about two weeks and hasn't been back in 6-7 weeks- forget holidays, we are just fed up - that is only one thing that is not fixed/completed. Only move in if completely done and hope you have no issues. I will never move around the holidays again and never take a builders word for when they will complete a home - I will wait and wait and wait to close for never having these headaches and that builder will need to wait on me and will understand since we have this story to tell. The quality of the home is very good for what was done and the sales rep was great but I can not handle the ups and downs again. I have been home since we are still in Covid protocol and that is the one thing saving us for whenever people can come, I am here to get things checked off our very long of things that need to be done. Trust me, this review is being nice since our frustrations run so high but "it is what it is" as a friend of ours always says. We just deal with it. If Highland is reading this - they know who this is and that is a shame for it can not really be anonymous and this story sticks our like a glaring red dot on the page. ... More
