Overall the actual homebuying was low average--i.e. responsiveness to issues-after moving in -they seemed to not be able to control very loud music of their workers-this is ongoing and detracts from the overall experience-it also interferes with our ability to do our work at home.

I assume because the rush, the home finishes are not god. ceiling shapes out of alignement, a lot doors handle loosed, some paint finishes in bad shaoe, paint drops in some places. The grass planted came wit a lot of herbs on it. Precesence of ants even into home detected few days after moving.

Do not close in December. We were rushed to close for the end of the year even tho we new there was a lot to fix. These issues/workorders took months to complete. If i was to do it again, i would wait until the house was 100%. With the rush, there was a lot of poor craftsmanship. To the point we regret buying our family home.

For the price paid, the builder should hire painters and workers who will pay more attention to details. The materials put into the home are great, but the way in which it was thrown together is a hug disappointment. Even after the initial and final walk they, you mark and it seems the workers shake their head as though they will correct the issues and I can back to find the same things undone.

We recently moved to a brand new valuable home with excitement but turned out to be a miserable life living inside the house from day 1. We are seeing many mice inside the brand new home from day 1. I wish Highland homes should have informed me regarding mice issue in the subdivision to give me a choice to consider to by a house or look somewhere else. If I was informed by Highland homes prior to buying a house regarding mice concern in the subdivision then I would have consider not to by this particular house but look for a house in different area. How common is Jonathan for a name? Prior construction supervisor normalizes and minimizes complaints, (chipped bricks/defaced bricks are normal, there are plenty of leftover bricks, sub-contractors should have installed those "perfect ones", "normal for stairs to squeak" inspite of adding more screws on stair steps, guy who supposedly repaired the squeaks would pass for principal danseur as he carefully descended down the stairs to minimize the squeaks, he is a little bit stocky with matching attitude lol, he could only blame the framer for the squeaks, uneven wood stain application, rough door jams, uneven flashing, uneven sodding, construction manager does not check work of individual sub-contractors, how do you miss a window on the third bathroom (upstairs). Blame game among subcontractors, lackluster painting subcontractors (a lot smudge bricks that needed to be changed after closing. Construction manager prohibited use of flashlights to check on imperfections during walk throughs. buyer should be offered to upgrade sidings to brick or stucco instead of hardies, builder should have flexibility regarding orientation, right swing or left swing, driveway ended up directly across the opposite driveway. all showers areas should be recessed. there was a rush to close on a house despite multiplicity of items that needed to be done, closing was done and no window in the bathroom, how? Construction supervisor asked for 5 stars lol, his efforts are not worth for 5 stars, at the same he brags about his texas A&M school, and he got "promoted" or just transferred, woooow. don't worry this will not go online to make him famous. Same plan, same builder, different prices in different communities, different level of standard features in each community should be conveyed to multiple layers of subcontractors. building the same plan in the same community, different placement of vents/exhaust, not sure if the architect/engineer drew it differently lol, some items needed to be discussed during pre-construction meeting. so much inconvenience imposed on the buyer waiting for repairmen, are you gonna give me a pergola, epoxy garage floor, skylight or hotel stay for free while repair work is being done? ... I am writing to you as a very concerned homebuyer. We recently built a house in Jordan Ranch with Highland Homes. While we expected the home buying process to be difficult, we have had quite an unpleasant experience with Highland Homes. From the get-go, there has been significant miscommunication and quality control issues. There have been many emails sent to our salesperson, our contractor and our project manager regarding issues, most recently being the unfinished nature of the house even after closing. There were multiple issues that were to be resolved before closing but were not. All of them are in writing, either through text message or email. These examples can be provided if necessary. We were assured at closing that these items would be completed the following week as we had let our salesperson and contractor know that we would be moving in approximately 2 weeks from signing our closing documents. The following week came, and the items were not completed. The next week came, and even after reminding everyone that we would be moving in later that week, the items were still not completed. We have now been here for about 4 weeks and the items have not all been completed, and we are finding more problems around the house - door knobs not being tightened appropriately and falling off, paint splatter, light bulb covers falling from the ceiling are just to name a few. My wife is at the end of her pregnancy and instead of being able to unpack our boxes and get the house ready for the baby, she is babysitting tradesmen and cleaning up after them as they come and go. She stayed home for the whole day on Friday 6/7, 6/14, and 6/21. We have to put a hard stop on anymore major repairs on the house because we need to get the house prepared for the baby. This was discussed with our contractor. On Saturday 6/8, painters were supposed to arrive at 7am and finish their job. I woke up and waited for them. No one showed up, and we were not notified until 9-10am. Things happen but this is the most recent incident of disrespect for our time and frankly this has happened way too much. I then had to stay at home for multiple hours on Sunday 6/9 while the painter came to complete his work. I am extremely tired and frustrated with the poor communication, the lack of professionalism, and lack of attention to detail with our housing project. I do appreciate Chuck coming to our house on Thursday 6/6 to evaluate our concerns. But the fact that everything was not finished on Friday and the painters did not show up the following day are just icing on the cake. Because of the cost of our time, the inability to unpack our things, the lack of professionalism, and poor communication, I would like to be reimbursed by Highland Homes. With everything that has gone on throughout the build and most recently, I think that 2 months’ worth of mortgage payments is fair. I do not believe this is asking too much and am happy to chat about it further. At this time, I cannot recommend Highland Homes as a builder to anyone that inquires. Our house cost us over $725,000, but I do not feel that the craftsmanship, communication, and professionalism was up to the standards that Highland Homes claims to deliver. Craftsmanship is poor. Quality of build is poor. Contractors are sloppy, framing not straight or flush and bowed requiring heavy warranty work. Walls not fully painted even after final walk through. Flooring scratched. Highland homes full of excuses; example two cabinet drawers touch when fully opened and the response provided was “both drawers shouldn’t be open together”. Unacceptable excuses to get the job completed correctly.

Based on a previous Highland Home we owned we sought out their homes as we felt they were a reputable builder and they stood for quality. They have been responsive to replacing items damaged or broken since we moved in but overall it hasn't been a pleasant experience. During our pre closing walk throughs we pointed out damage to trim, lack of finish quality, fact that sandpaper had not been used on trim board, gaps between trim and flooring as well as the overall finish paint quality on painted cabinets and doors. Minimal effort was put into making it right and it was as if this was just the way it is, take it or leave it. Ultimately we took it as it was the location we wanted and the homes were selling quick. After moving in we hired a private painting crew to repaint the doors and trim to a more satisfactory condition spending another $9500 on trim paint repairs alone. ... More

I canceled contract with Lennar to go with Highland Homes and I regretted it! Sales person was very aggressive and all over. Wasn't even there for closing or call to see how everything went. Not attention to detail nor concern with my needs. Always pushing my concern or additional work to outside source that is clearly a conflict of interest. Home quality is not there, I paid additional cost to update my kitchen cabinets and let's say the workmanship is terrible. Landscaping work is terrible! Have ask them to repair and still no change after three months.

Paint is everywhere, cracked tiles in the bathroom that still haven't been fixed. Leaking water line that they haven't come back to fix either. Will not buy another home from them.

Be sure to summarize every communication in writing point by point after each meeting as to your understanding and have them respond their agreement. Their people appear to forget easily. Not all their contractors are the best. Don't rely on their inspectors. Hire your own. We did like the floorplan and the location but we came close to walking away from the contract a few times.

Just move in around 90 days and I changed 8 of ceiling light!!! Painting is bad, we just find out inside and bottom of kitchen cabinet there a lot of exposing nails. The floor of 3 out of 5 rooms are not evenly...hopefully that’s all.

We had bad experience with Highland builder. It seemed that they don’t care much about quality of workmanship. A lot of issues were found before and after moving in. Very slow progress when resolved an issue. Satisfaction still not meet for some issues such as lot of stains on driveways and garage, front and backyard weren’t level properly, damage and lack of grass for yards, outside walls and entryway has lot of pant and grout spills

We had our walk through on 2 separate occasions and none of the items they were supposed to fix were complete. We lived in the house for a week before they replaced the broken dishwasher that we pointed out to them a month prior to close. We still have patchy paint on the walls and poor texture. My husband had to go all the way up the corporate chain to get any acknowledgement from the project manager.

Sellers provided false information along the process and would not honor their word despite have pictures, emails and texts to prove what they said. It is almost impossible to contact people local and at corporate to have issues addressed.

Too many issues to write about. We definitely wouldn’t choose Highland Homes again.

I don't think our home should have been sold in its current state. All of the initial responders to our problems are gone, we are getting a slow response to repairs and the home is incomplete.

In less than a month after moving in some items failed working and even after reporting to the warranty manager no body came to fix it. Highlands needs to improve on how to handle their customers complains.

Going into buying a home, we were thrilled to choose Highland Homes. After the process we have gone through I would not recommend to anyone based on quality of workmanship and repetitive issues with work being incomplete or done poorly. Overall a very poor experience.

Closed on home with laundry list of items to be completed 60 plus days in home and still not completed nor a timeline to be completed.

Frustrating process with the building of our house.The lack of supervision during the construction stage generated unnecessary repairs and too many follow up actions after the closing.

Terrible quality workmanship, would not recommend!

Do not close on your home until it can pass the final walk through. No one wants to take responsibility for the many mistakes that were made. I was told the things that are wrong is how things have been done for the past 5 yrs. Very sloppy work. I will never buy a Highland Home again.

We were really excited to move into our home but, it turned into a less than stellar experience as we realized that there were so many things, big and small, that appeared to be hastily done and poorly constructed. There are already cracks in the basedoards, rust in the sinks and bathtubs (which have never been used) and, the garage door came off of the hinges and very nearly crushed both of our vehicles. I could go on but again, beautiful home, terrible workmanship.
