Do not close in December. We were rushed to close for the end of the year even tho we new there was a lot to fix. These issues/workorders took months to complete. If i was to do it again, i would wait until the house was 100%. With the rush, there was a lot of poor craftsmanship. To the point we regret buying our family home.

I will say that the sales rep was phenomenal, the construction manager started off great, but as we were at the end of getting the house build, you could see our house was not as important to him as it was from the beginning. Later found out he was transferred to a different area which didn't help since we had questions. But now, with the people I am dealing with now, they are great and wished I had all along. We are so happy to have them help us out when we have any kind of question.

If you’re considering purchasing a Highland Home, I hope you’re reading this review in time to change your mind. In fairness, we purchased our home in Sienna Plantation and our neighbors have similar complaints, but we know others who own Highland Homes in other communities and are satisfied with their purchase. From start to finish, but especially at the finish, Highland was less than impressive. From our salesman giving us incorrect information to our home not matching the elevation we agreed to and ending with very poor craftsmanship, this house is nothing but a headache. I wish I could include pictures to show you, but here are some examples: multiple fans wobbled upon move in and had to be serviced multiple times, there are paint drips and smudges everywhere, paint splatter dots all over the floors, caulk all over the place, many, many, many cracks and openings in the trim and floor including a hole in the wall that was concealed by a support leg for our counter top, tile floor was installed with too shallow grout and had to be redone, shower floor was installed with very inconsistent spacing between tiles and and had to be redone, instead of cutting small pieces of tile to fit into the corners of our master bath, the installer filled those corners with big swipes of grout, grout and black wash from the tile installation is smudged all over the white trim in the bathroom, tile around the tub is poorly installed, especially at the edges, cooktop was installed at an angle in the kitchen, Silestone was the promoted quartz material at the design center, but our actual brand was a no-name, despite our sale agreement specifically listing Silestone, our backyard is a sopping mess and finally, the most egregious: we have RIGIDCORE installed in the majority of our house and the entire floor needs to be replaced. This is a floating floor product and the installers did not evenly spread the float beneath the floor, causing pieces of the floor to “touch down” to the concrete below and gaps between the floor and trim. Additionally, they installed the boards too tight with no margin on the edges for expansion, so our entire floor has peaks and valleys; in the sunlight, it truly looks like it’s a wave. The corners of the boards are chipping across the entire floor because of this. Some of these issues were noted prior to move in, but some we discovered after living here for a few months. Highland fails to hold their trade partners to a high standard and the builders fail to recognize these issues independently; it’s up to you to note all these flaws. Highland promotes that they have exceptional customer service and I would agree that they are quick to respond to items outside of “warranty”, but then drag their feet to get the work done. I would personally rather have a house that doesn’t have these issues instead of spending an absorbent amount of time trying to get them fixed with “excellent customer service.” ... More

Great customer service and attention to detail!

From the initial meeting with the sales rep to the final walk through, everything was easy. The sales person worked hard to get me what I wanted as far as the design budget went, so I didn’t have to sacrifice a lot as a single mom. My builder emailed me weekly to keep me in the loop as the building process progressed and was responsive to my questions or concerns. Highland has so many upgrades that are part of their standard package. I absolutely love my home!

Love our home! Picking out what we wanted in our home to make it perfect for us was great! We had a lot of issues with Highlands responsiveness to our concerns. Initially they were super responsive. Then it felt like like since we were so far into the process our concerns were no longer important. Our house was incomplete on closing day. For a couple of weeks after closing and moving in we had contractors in and out of our house to finish up the home. Now that everything is done we are loving creating memories here

the previous builder was not a good for taking care of problem. always give some excuse .Now I HAVE A NEW BUILDER his name Jim . He is very good .I give him 5 stars . I was so unhappy when I closed my home. It was unfinished and messy work. NOW Jim taking care of it.Thanks

Do not close on your home until it can pass the final walk through. No one wants to take responsibility for the many mistakes that were made. I was told the things that are wrong is how things have been done for the past 5 yrs. Very sloppy work. I will never buy a Highland Home again.

They provided exceptional customer service in every aspect from purchasing, building and warranty.

Great experience working with the entire team from the sales team to the project management team.

The CHEAPEST labor and materials are used but they Charge you a premium. They gave us an incomplete home stating everything would be done prior to close. Instead they rely on the warranty and that takes months to complete. So instead of enjoying a new home, you are dealing with the incompetency of the builders and the terrible contractors they use for months on end. Joseph and Giovanni give you a ton of attitude if you point things out that are done with poor quality, not done at all or done incorrectly. I could keep going but won’t. Bottom line...STAY AWAY!

From picking the model and lot all personnel have been wonderful. Their willingness to listen to my wishes and advice me on different things I may be leaving out was very important to me.

Overall excellent buying experience! Christy Chumbley did an outstanding job as our sales counselor. She was very helpful! Karen Fletcher in the design center was terrific also. She knew what she was doing it helped us make good choices. And Matt Barbera didn’t excellent job as our builder. He also was very responsive to any issues that we had.

I would just make sure to details. After a month being in our home we noticed more faults. For example we have several cracked tile pieces, cocking missing, sheetrock mistakes. I was not completely happy with my buy if I would do it again I would pay way more attention to details.

On behalf of my wife Lisa, we’d like to commend the Highland Home staff here in Jordan Ranch. Each one in their respective area was top drawer. This is our fifth and last home. Our experience from the beginning with Sales; during the construction phase and any follow-up on some minor items after we moved in has been great in every aspect. Having been in a sales career all my life, great performance should be acknowledged by the customer and not just problems. I hope this in some small way highlights how good the team is here.

Very honest and followed thru with what they said they would do.

Highland Homes went above and beyond our expectations. They communicated every step of the way along the home building process and informed us on why they did things or how things worked. We have built three homes and from walking each one this Highland home has felt like the better build quality of the three. Thank you Highland Homes!

This was our second home and the experience was great. We were allowed to make different changes including non standard changes. Very responsive. The builder communicated with us on the construction every week.

Great experience with Anita and Jarred. Jarred was quick to address and fix and issues or concerns we had.

The house is alright. We closed fast and the house was behind schedule. We were promised things would be fixed quickly as we found them but we have found that is not always the case and have had to push to get things fixed.

Don’t sign your closing docs until the builder fixes everything! It has taken me over 2 months to get everything fixed the right way and stay on the painters!! The builder has been very responsive about getting back to me but they are so busy building so many houses, their attention to detail from the contractors is not always good. We had to get the the patio and a portion of the driveway“floated” as there was acid/grease stains from the sub contractors, the painters (pretty sure the first painters were fired) had to come at least 5 times to fix things, and there were some finer details in the kitchen that were left unfinished/not painted. Bottom line, the house was rushed and not checked prior to the walkthrough and corporate would not move back the closing date. The materials/quality were good but attention to detail was lacking. ... My home buying experience with Highland is a mixed review. From a floor plan/neighborhood perspective they have very nice floor plan options that are in very nice areas. My sales manager, Sarah T., was fantastic! She was very honest about answering questions and extremely responsive. She walked through each phase step by step. Without a doubt she was what sold me on building with highland and making my experience pleasant. I also appreciated my lending team and my design center consultant. When it came to the project mgmt/construction side - things unfortunately were not as smooth. I assume things in Covid added a layer of complexity in terms of materials and timing, but that should not have an impact on the quality and finishes on the home. When it came time for final walk throughs and closing my home was "finished" with lots of missed items which proved a lack of quality assurance (cracked windows, screws missing from glass door, damaged tile, bathroom drains filled with corrosion, messy cocking, VERY THIN flat standard paint which comes off EXTREMELY easy, etc.). Also there were A LOT of construction remnants left for me to clean and fix in a brand-new house which I feel is unacceptable (I.e. paint spots on floors, pencil markings on the tiles, base boards not flush to the end of the wall, windows not clean, dust on counters, paint/cocking all over most light switches door knobs, and more). My project mgr was responsive but I feel it was hard for my points to be fully understood and made priority. Highland makes a beautiful - I have toured several model and completed inventory homes to confidently say this. What I would say for new buyers is stay on the project mgmt side and ensure they are doing what they should be in terns of finishes. Also, if at all possible...do not close without these items being fixed. I am still having to lead that charge to finish my house I am paying for. ... More
