Highland home is a nice quality home but after you close it takes too much time to get other repairs completed in a timely manner. When you do a walk through take your time you cannot catch everything. Need to do a better job in closing. when you close everything should be completed not incomplete.

It wasn’t a pleasant experience we were told constantly about the highland touch we came every 2 weeks to see progress and any issues. We sent pictures emails alot of issues weren’t addressed properly. When we closed we still had several issues and we were told they’d be taken care of 4 months later still all issues not resolved we were the last house painted by the crew that was fired. In the last 4 months we have had a multitude of contractors in and out of our home ( if they show up ) Still going through issues. Closed the house with a lot of defects. They promised to fix but take them forever.

Adam was very good and helpful during buying process. We loved the location of house, however, finishing and detailing is not good. We bought a house in end of October and they installed wrong bathroom wall tiles. Zack has been helping for construction management. We tole him that this is not the tile that we ordered. After that we did follow up 4 to 5 times and every time he would say he would find out and then never got back to us. We still don’t have correct tile in our master bathroom for which we already paid. Our one of bathroom cabinet is still needs to be changed.

I do not know if I have enough room. 1. Fireplace was not put in correctly and whoever put it in bent some things so it looked like it was in correctly. 2. Tile is cracked and covered up with paint to look as if not cracked. 3. Side of house was not finished and had a hole in it (we had to fix it) 4 We paid for an extended patio (16,000$) and they did not brick in the back! It looks so cheap it is embarrassing to have people over. 5. Light fixture in entrance looked like the one we ordered but it was a much smaller version and have yet to get the one we ordered (was this done on purpose thinking we would not see the difference?) 6. Guttering in the back of the house...well there is none and when it rains, the rain makes a big hole in the yard. 7. The black fireplace tile was done incorrectly and it is off center. 8. Paint missing on the inside and outside of the house and no one will give us the name of the paint so we can get it and fix it ourselves. 9. No one will give us a manual and you cannot find one online to "fix" our air conditioner/heater so that we might adjust the temperature. I want to add that Don and Linda are great... ... More

to resolve issues it take a decade.. i have bought my home in July.. and still there are things that needs to be completed. the labor used is not very good by this company. they are not very detail oriented.

This is my first time with highlands and I am very disappointed on the amount of issues I am having with a NEW home. Feels like a used home.

Check every detail of the house before buying.....

Although highland may have a stunning plot plan the management of contractor craftsmanship and quality is severely lacking. Aside from their plot plan there is absolutely no difference in this builder from any other cookie cutter neighborhood home. It’s clear to see that each contractor has less respect for the home than the last. Spending half a million dollars on a home should yield more quality and excitement when moving in. Our blue tape walk items are still outstanding 2+ months later. The longer we live in the home the more we are blown away by lack of craftsmanship, quality and the amount of corners cut to “complete” the home. You should NOT have to deep clean construction mess after closing as the homeowner nor should you have to waste your time with the quick patch/bandaid jobs for items that have no reason to be left as outstanding. Been here for two months and still have issues that’s been addressed - but nothing done! Very disappointed!!!!

Not a very good experience

Bought our townhome, Payed almost 500k. Closing day had multiple mechanical problems. Since moving in, we have been living in a third world country slum. Trash and uneaten food everywhere in yards and on the street. Driveway and ally constantly blocked making us miss appointments/ meetings. Music is blasting at 7 am even on weekends. Nails in tires several times. Have complained multiple times to managers who give a token gesture but things are back to terrible the next day. Since our purchase, we are obviously not a priority to the managers here over the townhomes in Bridgeland. Do yourself a favor and dont buy a townhome from Highland Homes until the entire community is complete. ... More

We had a HORRIBLE experience through the build. This was our second Highland home, and while we are happy with the quality, the attention to detail and responsiveness of the supervisor was horrendous. We were told we would have weekly phone calls for updates and had 3 phone calls over 4 months. Items would be noted to be repaired/amended and then would be completely disregarded. Even 2 months after moving in, there have been several items that were noted multiple times through the building process that have not been fixed. Overall, I would rate Highland's processes poor and this will be our last home purchased/built via them. ... More

Prior to buying the house we had extensively communicated that it was very important to my wife that the two oven system in the kitchen be changed to one oven system so that the microwave could be lowered and be of use to her. We were promised support in this regard but unfortunately that promise was not in the contract. The undeniable fact is that after spending near $700K and 50 days post closing I have an unhappy wife with the promised support for modification not done. I will never ever recommend Highland Homes to my contacts.

It’s my fault that I was in rush buying a home and therefore I end up buying a home with many faults. Jonathon ( manager) is a great guy and very helpful every situation but the house itself has many defects such as pendent lights, back porch concrete, interior walls r not straight , kitchen sink , breakers r Turing off itself quite often and many more. They replaced my pendent lights at least 5 times but still couldn’t get it right and I was lied about the situation. Basically, after third party doing a job , there was no one from Highland to inspect the job quality. I am thinking to buy another home and most likely not from Highland. ... More

The experience was the worst I have ever had in buying a home. Our realtor, Hector and my finance person didn’t get a long, they were pointing fingers at who was at fault, Hector went so far to add me and my wife on the email chain, and the result ended up causing us to miss closing and having to move twice. We emailed Hector’s boss about how unprofessional this was and his boss still to this day has never acknowledged or responded.. No one cared that all the unprofessional behavior cost us, the buyer, thousands of dollars to move and store our items until we could get closed. The VA inspector reached out to Hector for a week, with NO response, then when Hector finally responded and scheduled the inspector the home did NOT have appliances. The house has had several issues, that if anyone really looked they would have been fixed, 2 doors with door handles uneven, one much higher than the other. Underneath cabinets paneling falling off, paint was sloppy, the painters have been back several times. The yard has an open ticket now, our grass is dead, we noted this in walk through. We thought we were buying a good quality home from a trustworthy builder, but we were totally off, it's been really painful starting from the permit submission that was not done on time and even worst the person accountable lied about it... We moved almost 8 weeks ago and still have pending thing to be fixed... The house floor plant is so beautiful but quality and how Highlands manages materials is a shame. Worth to highlight the Engineering interest to fix things but unfortunately he has too many things to do. The builder should reformulate it's strategy and try to get things done right first time. ... Our experience with the sales team from the beginning has been excellent. However, our experience with the construction and warranty department didn't align with the Highland Homes reputation at all. We would like to provide more details if contacted by Highland Homes Customer Services team, however, below are some experiences where we felt that we (as buyer) and our time were not valued at all by builder's team: After closing: * Some of the crew members didn't show up during the scheduled window (to complete the items from affidavit) and had to wait for the whole day and follow up with construction managers to get things done. * There are a couple of items from the affidavit for which we are still waiting (despite multiple reminders to the construction manager) even after more than 2 months from closing. * Had to wait for a month and also had to request multiple times in order to get a simple response (about the HVAC system invoices) from the construction manager/local warranty customer care representative. * Even though Highland Homes says that a customer care representative will contact us within two business days from submission of warranty request, so far we have not been contacted at all (and it has been 2 calendar weeks from the day of warranty request submission). Overall, our experience with the construction and warranty team so far DOES NOT encourage us to recommend Highland Homes to any of our friends/family members. We will really appreciate it if someone (who cares to make a difference) from Highland Homes contacts us and addresses our concerns. ... More

Customer service is very very Bad

Wish I could say better things - but very disappointed overall.

The subcontractors were abysmal. The sheetrock seams are horrible. The "finish" work on the trim looks like a child put it in. The concrete in the driveway, garage and patio are pitted, gouged, and have boot prints in them. As I write this, the master closet ceiling and upstairs bathroom vanity are torn out as water is leaking through the ceiling. The absence of professionalism even extended to unhuman behavior such as urinating in the shower to the point where the smell prevented us from going into the house, and there was even feces rubbed on the painted wall in the bedroom upstairs. I cannot stress enough how shocked, disgusted and disappointed we are in Highland and this house. ... More

I wish I had good things to say about my home. I was incredibly invested, spent quite literally hundreds of hours doing research, reading contracts, working with my builder on the home, and trying to build relationships with the Highland team. I've never felt like my partner in any project put forward so little effort as Highland did across the board. I was talked down to by my sales person, ignored by my design center specialist, and lied to by my construction manager. On top of all of that, once I left reviews and messages for management, I never got a call back to address any concerns I had. What a waste of money and time, I would never recommend Highland to anyone. ... More

Worst buying experience ever. Many many issues with the house once we moved in. Plenty of excuses, broken breaker, air condition was hooked up wrong, drier connector was broken. Maintenance men didn’t show up twice on two separate occasions. Just a mess

We have had many many problems with our new home, which include Quality control with workmanship and several warranty issues, including the AC. Our AC shut down after only 6 weeks and the company we are required to use made it extremely difficult to schedule service. They also will not allow us to lower our thermostat below 72, which we were never told would be an issue when purchasing the house. Upstairs rooms don't cool properly because of mistakes made during installation and the AC company refused to come out to fix for a whole month because it wasn't an emergency. We have a roach issue in the house, despite paying our own pest control to come out 3 times in 8 weeks. We have never had this issue in the past. These are baby roaches also, which does not result from construction in the surrounding areas. This means there is an issue in the home. We were mislead upon expressing interest in the home and told that the lot size was 2000 sq ft larger than it actually is. We expressed that this was important to us and were still mislead with an inflated size estimate twice. Granite in the kitchen is chipped but chip was concealed with amber colored resin. Our backyard floods with water whenever it rains for a few minutes, which worries me when it comes to future heavy rainfall. The construction manager John has been extremely nice and helpful where he can be but I know he can only help so much. Bad paint job. Paint/stains all over floors and doors. Garage concrete is completely stained and chipped. Construction did not follow design and preconstruction design notes. Floors lifted by trim. Doors don't close right. Drawers slides are not smooth. I think my expectations were to high choosing Highland, should of known something was off when the sales rep took us to tour a house and they couldn't believe how much trash there was. I do believe more supervision should be done over the construction crew not only in design but in constructability.
