Bricks uneven and mortar not installed correctly. The brick layer came back once to correct it and made it worst and use the wrong color mortar.The drainage in not slopped correctly and water sits in the backyard. The warranty representative suggestive that I purchase grass that will grow in damp areas. Sprinkler system not zoned correctly. I had to turn off half the sprinklers in order to water some of the grass that was replaced. If not then the area that does not drain water accumulates and just sit there longer then 48 hours.

The building process was a nightmare due to the construction managers that oversee your home build. They had zero concern over quality or workmanship by the contractors and nothing was made right by them. We have built before and never thought it would be this bad. I’m not kidding! By from a different builder!

Had to call twice now for breaker keeps blowing. Electrician keeps coming out saying there is no issues. So guess we will just have to get used to resetting the breaker.

We had a great experience from beginning to end with Highland homes. The sales rep and construction manager were both highly responsive to our requests. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another Highland home in the future.

We are beyond pleased with our new home. From our first meeting with Linda in the sales office to post-closing small details with Don (and all parts in between), we always felt that we were valued and respected. We have been in our home long enough to receive full-month utility bills. The home is truly energy efficient and very comfortable. We thank you, Highland Homes and your great Woodforest team, for exceeding our expectations!

When moving to Bridgeland, we had hoped to build a Highland Home, but expected we would have to sacrifice size or features to construct one at our price point. Surprisingly, our sales associate considered our requests, picked a great plan and elevation, and provided considerable upgrades, while remaining in our budget. Constructing and financing through a Highland affiliate resulted in a seamless process, one in which it only took 3 months to construct and close on our home.

On trim work inside and out side had areas of paint run off. Sloppy paint work.

Chris was our builder and did an excellent job. He is very responsive, is on top of everything and is nice to work with.

Finding the plan to build the perfect home is the easy part. What sets Highland Homes apart from the rest is the support you will get during the construction of your home and after closing. Every new home will have bumps along the way, how those issues are handled is what is most important. Daniel, my builder, and Anita, my sales person, always made sure these issues were resolved. They both really emphasized they wanted us to be happy with our purchase. After building 5 homes, you don't see that kind of "old fashioned" work ethic very often. All the extra effort was appreciated.

We’ve bought several new homes in the past 20 years and I must say this is the worst by far in regards to quality, workmanship and service. We selected Highland in Wright’s Landing 50’s based on the advice of our broker and the fact that our last neighborhood in May Valley only had Highland and Village Builder homes - which were of superb quality. The appeal of selecting an employer owned company was also attractive because of the assumed personal attachment to the craftsmanship, quality and details of the finished product. The contractors used in the construction process simply either don’t care or are incompetent or both. Sadly, construction management does little to reinforce these issues. The experience was so disappointing, that the director of construction management for the greater Houston area changed project managers after we closed on the home because of his ineptitude. The second construction manager was much, much better but unfortunately it was too late to change our perception of Highland. It is hard to believe that painters would be sent out 5 times to retouch the same spot on a wall, which is still shoddy. Can you believe that we were told by their electricians that it is acceptable for our lights to dim and flicker when we vacuum or use a blender because this is a byproduct of the house’s energy efficient design? (We were literally told this by Highland electricians two weeks ago). Their main concern was to get us to sign the affidavit, which we begrudgingly did due to the exhaustion from this process. We are embarrassed to tell family and friends that our new home is a Highland product and to tell them the unfinished, sloppy concrete stories (which still exist) or the tacky cabinet and doors finishes issues (which I am looking at now). It’s interesting to note that the sales experience was amazing. This poor rating addresses the pre and post construction process and poor customer service related issues. Highland has been great since the start. They are quick to answer your question or concerns. They are very accommodating and trustworthy. I would recommend anyone to build with highland.

Highland has great floor plans to choose from. The process was easy and they take care of any issues the best they can. Lyndsay in the sales depart was great at helping with design choices. Giovanni the construction manager was most helpful in every way. He handles issues quickly and makes it a great experience. The only negative is possibly not getting all the options offered in the design center that I would have liked to get. Example elongated toilets instead of round ones, blinds not offered, and taller bathroom cabinets. But with that said it was a pleasant experience and I would buy from highland again. ... More

Very good experience over all

They'll overcharge you for upgrades. But realistically, adding ALL the upgrades only gets you to today's standard. Most of their basic fixtures and options are dated. Don't get me wrong, everyone is very nice, but these are cookie cutter homes with yesterday's design. It'll take a lot more investment to sell.

Very happy with our first home. We’ve heard great things about Highland Homes and so far it has met all expectations we had coming into our purchase. Would recommend to anyone looking for high quality.

Home is average, had multiple issues upon moving in but the service and timeliness to tend to the issues were excellent. I must commend the sales/ construction management team on their service, but I would not buy nor recommend a Highland home to anyone.

Poor walls and supplies used. Paint rubs right off. More than 20 items needed to be fixed or repaired AFTER moving in. Been here for more than 3 months and still waiting for repairs and replacements.

Construction quality is excellent. Choice of different floor plan is good . Finesse in Painting can be improved. Warrant department is very responsive .

We just moved in our second Highland home and we couldn't be more pleased with our beautiful home. We checked with other builders, but their prices were high. We did look at Lennar, but they were unwilling to negotiate prices or make any changes, even like adding extra electric plugs to make the home more "Smart." Highland homes were priced much better than the other builders in our subdivision AND they bent-over-backwards to make changes to the house, we requested like moving the fireplace to new location, adding windows, adding floor and electric plugs, moving a bedroom closet to garage to add square footage to room and many more changes. Essentially, we were able to customize the home to fit our needs. Quality: we had inspectors review home during building process. One inspector remarked about how well Highland homes are built, from previous inspections. However, in our inspections he showed the extra steps Highland took for high energy efficiency and superior quality build. He said, "You normally only see these type of extras on million dollar custom build homes and these are standard on Highland." Also, he was so impressed with the plumbing, he took pictures to use as examples of how plumb the home right. He remarked that it was refreshing to inspect a home with so few and minor issues. Highland People: We visited many Highland communities model homes to get ideas for our home. Even though the sales people knew we were buying in another community, they still went out of their way to answer questions and to help us. Our sales counselor and building coordinator were very kind and trustworthy people who were exceptionally responsive to our questions and needs. Also, our designer truly understood what were looking for in a home, even though we were really not quite sure it even able to articulate what we wanted. She was able to magically bring a hodge-podge of ideas and desired and designed a beautiful home which looks like model quality and has all of the elements we love. Highland people are the kind of people you would choose to call "friend." So if you want to build your dream home at the right price, customize it to fit your lifestyle, and want to feel secure in the knowledge that your home is extremely well-built: buy a Highland. You won't regret it. And matter-of-fact, if one day you choose to sell your Highland, know that it will sell fast and with lots of added equity added to your bank account. ... More

During the construction of our home, the company made an error, installing something we had discussed but not ordered. When we noticed the error, they insisted on our NOT paying for that item. They acknowledged their error and paid for it. If I ever build another house, I will go to Highland.
