The sales reps Thea and Patti were great. They made our home buying process go very smoothly and made us feel very comfortable. Once we moved into the house we found that fans in the ceilings of the bathrooms were not screwed in, vanity lights were screwed into the dry wall instead of something secure, the base boards and door frames are very cheap material and will not last very long. Grout work on the tiles was done very sloppy. The backyards were not leveled out and barely any dirt was put down under the grass. Seems that the individual in charge should have been walking through the ...

There was lack of supervision during the entire build process. Corrective action were poor. We were pushed to close even without things being completed. I have broke water lines in the sprinkler system. I had expressed concern about leaks in the sprinkler system before close and I was told they were fixed. First water bill was extremely high and I am still waiting for the lines to be fixed and outcome of the water bill reimbursement.

The quality of products and material used in a 735K home is poor. The floor is painful to walk on due to no padding under wood and low grade padding under carpet. Wall finish is matte. Shower marble tile was not even attempted to look cohesive.

I bought the model home that was 6 years old. I was told that I had a warranty. NEVER NEVER did they tell me differently. I have an issue with the refrigerator that came with the house. I asked about putting in a warranty and was told then that there was NO ONE YEAR warranty on the home. I was told that they GAVE me money back to buy a 3rd party home owners insurance. The paperwork I saw, after closing, seemed to say that highland homes was paying for the insurance. Been informed now that that's now how they understood it. Bottom line, it's a very nice home BUT Highland Homes was NOT open ...

We love the layout and floor plan, however, that is the extent of our happiness. For the most part, every sales rep and/or project manager or superintendent was pleasant to work with, but the follow through was lacking. The quality of workmanship and materials was abysmal, not something worthy of aligning itself the reputation Highland Homes has come to have over the years. Simply put, anyone on the executive leadership team would be disappointed...except for maybe the person trying to cut costs or save a dollar, it shows with the contractors working in this subdivision. In some aspects, we ...

We are happy to be in our new home. Sales process was great. However, post-close, things are less than desirable. More than two months after closing, original punch list is still not complete. There is little to no communication and no sense of urgency. Hate to complain on social media, but hoping this will get someone’s attention that can take care of the punch list.

I am reasonably disappointed with our home. I DO NOT think we got what we paid for. I have owned a number of homes over the years, several of them were new construction homes like this one. While this one was the most expensive by double, it was the least well constructed. Too many cost-cutting measures. As an example, for a home that cost over $750,000, EVERY home on our block has the exact same outdoor fixtures (excluding doors which are an option). The master bedroom closet is well appointed but the poles that hold hangers are extremely cheap and skinny 3/4 inch diameter instead of ...

Our home was rushed to close. The day of closing it was not complete and we were promised it would be that day. Shame on us for trusting. We expected outstanding quality with highland homes, we did not get that quality. Everywhere I look I see a rushed home build. So disappointing.

Maybe expectations were too high. But for the amount of money spent on this house, I would have expected a MUCH higher level of craftsmanship in details. Base materials that the builder uses are lower quality (cheap doors, basic light fixtures, flimsy wood flooring, counter materials in kitchen and bathroom, little toilets, light switch locations, etc.). Maybe the "area" commanded such a price, but the end product was mildly disappointing. By the end, it was too late to correct it all. The construction manager was responsive during final walk through but not entirely reactive to make ...

There’s too much to negative items to list on this second Highland home purchase. I’d like to highlight that there are still items that are not repaired or replaced. Craftsmanship and quality control lack in this caliber of home. Professionalism lacks from the sales agent of which we never met or greeted by. Again, this is our experience with Highland homes.

This was our second Highland Home. Planning on it being our last, the initial experience was good, but went down hill with a temporary showroom and lack luster selection. Then our Construction Manager was out sick from just after foundation pour till a month before closing. Never the less they kept building, we would walk through on weekends and notice that there was work going on but under no real supervision. Needless to say there were issues but luckily I contracted a home inspector. We wish people were honest and trustworthy but at the end of the day I don’t know what I’m looking at ...

We contracted on our home in October 2020 and did not close until February 2022. There were many delays from our foundation being poured incorrectly that halted the progress on our home. We paid a premium up charge for painted brick only to have crooked unlevel bricks installed throughout the exterior. We had upgraded carpet that was installed prior to the finish out of the home that was not protected and allowed workers to walk throughout home leaving muddy boot prints. Our closing date changed 11 times from September 2021. We had 5 closing date changes in January 2022 alone. The day we ...

The main issue is Insulation in the house, there is no privacy. I can hear the conversation happening in the living room in my Master bedroom and vice versa. We also hear the highway traffic in our master bedroom. There are some minor things where we see that builder has tried to save money, it's not worth it. I am not sure if I will recommend highland homes to anyone.

I was offered no sit down meeting with Construction Mgr to identify specific requests. Construction Mgr clearly didn't stay on top of workers. It was a lot of measure 1x, cut 3 or 4 times, increasing time and reducing quality. Had to force replacement of roof. BSG is the worst sub contractor, don't let them touch your house, they filled mine with holes because of poor communication with construction mgr and they also did shoddy work. Get a 3rd party. Exterior vents were taped on and open to pests. Ensure you get a 3rd party inspector for all aspects of the house prior to closing so they catch ...

The workmanship is absolutely terrible. The subcontractors that actually build this houses don't care about what they are doing. There is trash everywhere. Beer bottles galore. One trade builds something and the next trade breaks or damages it. It's your average built house. They could do better.

Highland Homes may have built it’s better reputation in the early 2000’s for innovative, functional and almost high end quality materials. But in the recent years it’s quality and workmanship seems to be faltering. It’s been 86 days in our new house and there are already numerous issues of workmanship and quality of products installed. Had it not been with the construction manager and sales agent. I would rated it 1 star.

Highland Homes responded:

I understand from our team that they have been actively working with you in an attempt to improve some items you are not pleased with. While I do understand that there are some unique issues, most concerns are of the quality and standards we show in our model homes and we believe are well above industry standards. We pride ourselves in providing all of our customers with the highest quality home possible and remain committed to our customers throughout the home-building process and after, well into the warranty, to help get everything completed and to your satisfaction. Our goal is to provide quick attention to your concerns and are hopeful you will be pleased with things once our team has completed the agreed upon items. We closed on our house with an affidavit for needed repairs/home finishings. We assumed it'd be done withing 14 days. We're over 2 months in and all of the repairs are still not complete. We've had to take multiple days off work to accommodate contractors, etc.! We had a third party contractor show up at our house to serve us a hand written "notice" that they haven't been paid by Highland and plan to take action. I met the guy while he was building the deck before we purchased the home. It's not my first pick of people to have showing up in the evening angry with my 15 month old in the ...

We closed almost two months ago and they are still working on our house. I feel the work has been sloppy and not well done. It looks like I am fixing a used home instead of moving into a new home! I would not buy from them again! My mistake was closing before the house was completely finished!!! The price we paid does not reflect the quality of the home. We are very disappointed!

While our Highland Home looks nice from the outside, it has been one frustration after another assuming ownership of this house. From failed promises to install a barrier wall that resulted in a vandal driving through our front yard (in a gated community, no less) resulting in hundreds of dollars of additional watering fees due to re-sodding, to HVAC duct work coming apart in the attic, to many other small to large issues, this has not been the experience described to us as we selected this builder and community. Very unsatisfied with the responsiveness of our contractor at Veramendi location. Many of the same issues were brought up multiple times with clear communication on our end regarding quality of workmanship and incomplete work. The contractor would make excuses and often times would not even be aware that the various tradesmen never showed up to complete work. Disappointed to see on our final walkthrough that several of these issues still remained unresolved. We specifically told the Highland Home Representatives, unlike others we were in no rush for the home but rather wanted quality work and material used in the process verses speed in trying to move into the home. What we got was very poor quality work that required us to bring in a third party inspector and maintain a detailed list of issues that required no less than four internal inspections by us and continueing to maintain and demand the list be addressed in order to get through the buying process. You have zero quality control in your process and only look to push the home out in hopes ...
