I had great experience with the sales counselor and she respond to every question I have quickly. She work with me to complete all the upgrades or changes I requested.

Cheaply made cabinets. Had wiring issues, split base boards, garage door issue, back door to the house howls when the wind blows and drainage issues in the back yard. For the price of the house you would think we would not have so many issues. I spent 100k less for my last house and never had this many issues.

We were pleased overall with our building experience with Highland Homes. There were some quality of workmanship issues with some of the finishing crews at the end of our build, but our builder was helpful in trying to resolve those issues. Some have been resolved, and others still have a resolution being worked towards. That part has been very frustrating for a new homeowner.

Fantastic experience from start to finish. Special shout out to Patty, Shane, James, and Doug for helping us through the process. Chris did a great job closing the home as well.

Using Highland as our builder was one of the best decisions I ever made. It’s not like everyday you go out to purchase a home, but the highland team made the whole experience remarkable! From making sure my questions were answered to executing our upgraded options to our home. They were on top of it and provided a piece of mind that made us feel at ease. Thanks Highland for making this house into our dream home!

We are extremely satisfied with the entire building process. Everyone we talked to on the Highland Homes team was a pleasure to work with. They worked with us literally every step of the way. We were a little nervous building a new house from out of state, but the team made it as smooth and seamless as possible. We're happy we went with HH! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

whew. here we go. We moved into a new build home by Highland Homes in August 2020 and have found so many issues with build quality of the home, as well as drainage issues on the land. Land/ Property: Drainage issue was brought up during construction in March/ April and was not assessed until we threatened to pull out of home purchase in August. This is still ongoing even through October 2020. Have had 2-3 development managers come out and discuss adjustments, a few fixes have been made to little or no avail, but it should have been discussed/ adjustments made to the property back when we brought it to their attention months prior. Home: We have had doorknobs (front and back doors) completely fall off multiple times. I had the builder adjust twice and still has fallen more. these will be noted soon and hopefully completely replaced. Painters have needed 2-3 trips to get to where we are now, and more trips are still needed to complete their jobs. The AC thermostats did not work and needed to be replaced, the alarm circuit did not work and required adjustments, the digital locks were not tracked and it took a few discussions by BSG and builder to find out who is responsible for install of those. The skybell doorbell also needed replaced. The oven vent was installed incorrectly and needed to be replaced. Multiple trim boards were bowed out. We just discovered when it got cold that the Heating in the HVAC is not working. 2 closets did not even get all of the storage/shelving that was supposed to be added. One had no storage/shelving at all. Builder only discovered after we went into another same-plan home. Landscaping: Landscapers planted 16 plants which would grow to be gigantic bushes in a garden which shouldnt have had 3 or 4 max. When i asked about it, i was told they were weeds... even after providing photos from when they were planted by landscapers. Eventually they did come out and replace. but had to go back and forth between builder and landscapers to identify what was even planted. Conclusion: I have moved into 3 or 4 new-construction homes, and this one has had more problems than any of those COMBINED. If my family wasnt already in process of having their home built by Highland, i would never refer them. All of the individuals i have worked with have been nice and very accommodating, the followthrough is what has been severely lacking though. I honeslty have felt that every single week we have 2-3 new issues to add to our 90-day warranty fix list. I havent included a single one of those (30+) issues in this review. Failed multiple times by construction manager Response time for corrections very poor To much to list

The sales reps Thea and Patti were great. They made our home buying process go very smoothly and made us feel very comfortable. Once we moved into the house we found that fans in the ceilings of the bathrooms were not screwed in, vanity lights were screwed into the dry wall instead of something secure, the base boards and door frames are very cheap material and will not last very long. Grout work on the tiles was done very sloppy. The backyards were not leveled out and barely any dirt was put down under the grass. Seems that the individual in charge should have been walking through the homes more often to ensure the workers were doing a good job. Seems as though some of the people working on the homes are not qualified and don't know exactly how to do their jobs. We found a lot of alcohol bottles in the home when being built so these workers are drinking on the job. We paid extra to buy the lots looking at the greenbelt but the workers threw a ton of trash in the greenbelt. We asked for the builder to clean that up but got no response. These homes are close to the 1 million dollar price tag and we expect good quality materials and better workmanship. Overall for the price we paid we were disappointed in the quality of work that was done in the house. When you are building homes in this price range you should have more oversight on the work being done and use quality materials if that is what you are charging. ... More

I love my new home. It’s everything I dreamed of and more. Highland has impeccable craftsmanship and service. I’m so glad I chose Highland homes.

The question on this survey is what stood out? Clearly “G.N.” our Construction Manager undoubtedly stood out. His pro-active communication from the pre-build meetings and even today, 80 days after closing he follows up to ensure all is going well. During the build process there were several occasions where we said to ourselves, we need to call and ask about that. Before we would even call or text it was not uncommon from him to proactively reach out and tell us about the same issues and what was being done to correct them. As we came closer to closing and minor issues came up he was willing to talk through and address even the smallest imperfection to ensure we received a beautiful home. He clearly took pride and was not building a house he was building our home and we are very appreciate of the pride, thoroughness and workmanship. Our Realtor T.K. was awesome as well and made regular check-ins to ensure we were making progress every step of the way. You can tell she spoke with the construction managers because they are on the same page and moving the build forward. As far as the home, we are very satisfied and while it is little more expensive than some homebuilders in the area we are very pleased with the technology, workmanship and standard amenities in the home. ... After signing a contract with another builder and getting three weeks out from closing, the poor workmanship and constant installation of wrong materials caused us to cancel that contract and begin the search again. That’s when we met Teri at Highland Homes. Her courteous and knowledgeable demeanor, along with the pride in the quality of Highland Homes instantly sold us. So then the building process began. Greg, our construction foreman, was absolutely top notch! He went above and beyond to respond to any questions we had along the way and resolve any concerns we had throughout the process, and to this day checks in on us to make sure all is well. I have built 4 homes in my time, but will never again consider another builder. Highland is absolutely top notch and I am thrilled to recommend them to anyone!!! ... More

The workmanship is absolutely terrible. The subcontractors that actually build this houses don't care about what they are doing. There is trash everywhere. Beer bottles galore. One trade builds something and the next trade breaks or damages it. It's your average built house. They could do better.

Highland seems to be resting on a reputation they should no longer have. They were perfectly nice & accommodating when it came to selecting our house and the optional finishes that would drive the price of the home up. When it came to the execution of actually building the home, that is where they did not hold up their end of the deal. Countless issues of just poor and sloppy work occurred leading up to the close of the house. When a home inspector challenged their work, they proceeded to discredit the inspector, rather than fix issues. The only time I saw them work hard on our house was to get us to close on the agreed upon date when the house was clearly in no shape to be moved into. During our final walkthrough, there was still no grass, no A/C, and a 20+ foot hole in the front yard due to some plumbing issues when we were told it would be move in ready. Between the mistruths of the status of the house, their reactions to fix their issues, the lack of quality and attentiveness of the vendors they use, and the fact that at the time of this review, there are items that are still not fixed that contractually they are supposed to have been done over two months ago, I would think long and hard about selecting Highland Homes to build your house. ... Very pleased with quality and workmanship of our home. They listen to what we needed to work for us. If they couldn’t do something they were great about trying to find an option or just said we couldn’t. They have come back and fixed items since moving in. Overall the response and professionalism is excellent.

The main issue is Insulation in the house, there is no privacy. I can hear the conversation happening in the living room in my Master bedroom and vice versa. We also hear the highway traffic in our master bedroom. There are some minor things where we see that builder has tried to save money, it's not worth it. I am not sure if I will recommend highland homes to anyone.

The finish work of our home was below par. The building manager did a great job addressing the items. If I could do it over I would not have closed until the majority of the items were corrected.

Highland Homes may have built it’s better reputation in the early 2000’s for innovative, functional and almost high end quality materials. But in the recent years it’s quality and workmanship seems to be faltering. It’s been 86 days in our new house and there are already numerous issues of workmanship and quality of products installed. Had it not been with the construction manager and sales agent. I would rated it 1 star.

Builder rushed to complete the house for closing and failed. Promise to fix discrepancies and two months in we are still dealing with the initial issues. Very disappointed for the amount of money we paid.

We've owned multiple homes and are disappointed in the details of this VERY EXPENSIVE house. Everyone provided awesome service UNTIL WE CLOSED. Then they GHOSTED. Two months in and we still don't have the items on the "closing list" completed and the warranty service is a BAD JOKE. You submit a request and MAYBE they will come out in 4 to 6 weeks. I don't actually know since our items are still open 4 to 6 weeks later. When we moved in, none of our Low-E worked, there was a FULL SIZE tool backing up our bathroom drains (they said they scoped the lines), I couldn't use the lights in my living room and turn on the disposal because there was a short and half of our electrical panel pops on a very regular basis. Our kitchen cabinets are full-out cracking in various places (and not at the seams). There are cracks in almost every bathroom grout, baseboards, door frames and walls. I’ve lost count of the popped nails which the warranty “manager” says they won’t even address until the “1 year service”. Then there are the floor plans. They sacrifice function for design in EVERY AREA OF THE HOUSE. They are pretty houses, but do not function well. (Think lack of linen closets and that you will probably have to buy all new furniture for every room and not even your washer and dryer fit in the laundry room.) ... More

Overall the quality’s very good. We’ve had a few small issues, which is to be expected, but Highland’s been very responsive to address them. Great people to work with. Wish the Ranches at Creekside developer and HOA were as quick and responsive as Highland’s been.

Little things that could have been included for the money that was spent. Doors, switches, lights these were just a couple up grades I paid for. Was not to happy about how high my foundation was built up in comparison to my neighbors. On the plus Rich n Ken did a good job of our concerns of the home.

Can't think of much except maybe be open and negotiate. Stay and remain positive thru out the ordeal.

We completed the building process from Washington state, which can significantly complicate the process. Dorothy and Adrian were amazing throughout with updates and pictures. They always went above and beyond expectations!

We love our highland home and while all new homes will have a few issues, this builder has gone above and beyond to make sure our issues are fixed in a timely manner. Would recommend Highland Homes over our previous DR Horton so far.
