We purchased our home three months ago, and have had severe plumbing issues ever since. Our construction manager has been great, but they had to dig a hole in our guest bedroom, they pumped a brick out of the upstairs plumbing and removed wood and debris from our downstairs plumbing. We were without adequate plumbing for nearly 2 months. And had construction workers in and out for nearly a month. We had to stay in a hotel for several days and were displaced for quite some time. We also have not been offered any compensation other than them fixing their mistakes. I have called the office, and left messages via their contact us links on the website. No one has called back. When you are buying a house at this price point you definitely should not be having these types of issues. ... More

My experience was horrible had some problems at the house that were supposed to be taken care of and our builder never answered our calls anymore

We are not too happy in the beginning when we looked at purchasing our home from highlns. The problem is that I believe this was a bit oversold in terms of trying to get us in the home. We initially made contact with a salesperson back in April 2019 and was told the home we were purchasing would be completed in late July. It was a play on the excitement in our eyes to have something ready shorty after arriving in San Antonio. Well to our surprise and without any delays that were mentioned to us... the home wasn't completed until late August. Meeting with the program manager and conversations with the Sales Manager seemed to be working in our favor, but it was frustrating. We were frustrated with not getting information, timelines and the changes in construction manager. The next constructions manager was better at responding. It was almost like the salesperson knew we were in a rush and we had to contact lead Program Managers/Constructions Managers all the time just to get updates. And the problem with that was contacting the office in the local area. I had to call the office in another city just to get through to the team in San Antonio. I called an office in Dallas to get transferred to the main officer here in San Antonio. There was little communication and finally we were able to get information on when the home would be completed and ready to move in. It was a rough few months especially with our daughter in the NICU for a few months.. and as we were not in the area to check in at times on top of having a newborn without a place to live was really frustrating. I know that we were upfront with letting the salesperson know that we would be in San Antonio the first week of July. I know that we mentioned that we wanted the tub a certain way. I know that we had GREAT communication with our realtor, but it appeared that the only people not responding to our questions or not listening were the team at highland homes. We frequented the property when we arrived and found a few areas of concern which we were told that would be addressed and taken care of as soon as possible. A new salesperson who was only here temporarily was very knowledgable about everything Highland and we so wish that we would have had her initially. This was a rush of emotion and frustration that would have been a lot easier had there been some clear communication from team Highland. Im that we initially trusted Highland homes to the fullest extent. The lack of communication and with the salesperson telling us this home would be completed in July kinda made it hard to ensure out needs were met and questions were answered. The home is beautiful and we love our lot. The actual experience has been really poor. From a list of items that still have not been addressed since move in (8/2/19), to $1500 water bills, to no mailbox keys for 6 weeks and misspelling of our last name on a "gift" from the builder. I would say that, if given the chance again we would not move forward with Highland Homes.

Everyone, from sales to managers to workers, are very professional. The house is gorgeous and any issues are addressed immediately. I highly recommend Highland to anyone!

Outstanding experience, customer service was stupendous, and the home was completed to standard before schedule

The staff was very helpful in our decision making. All items identified as a potential problem was resolved in quick manner. A great experience working with all of the Highland folks.

Highland is a dream come true, we spent a year house hunting and nothing compares to quality and price of our home.

Process of building and closing went very well. The process was MUCH better than the process we went through 6 years ago when we custom built a home with a custom home builder. The Highland Homes Construction manager and sales person kept us updated with weekly phone calls on the progress of construction and always answered any questions we had. A couple of cosmetic items we noted after closing that needed attention, but all were fixed promptly and professionally. Another builder wanted to nickel and dime for extras like sprinklers, landscaping, sod, etc and would not allow us to have a whole house vacuum installed. A lot of the extras Highland INCLUDES in their homes and they were perfectly OK with allowing us to install a whole house vacuum. We were even able to customize the kitchen to allow space for a chef's fridge and freezer to be installed. ... More

From the very start, it was obvious that we made the right choice to build our home with Highland. No matter how small of a detail, question, or concern that we had throughout the process the employees at all echelons were nothing but pleasant and courteous. When issues came up, which is inevitable, I firmly believe that Highland went that extra step to make us happy that other builders just wouldn't have done. The only, and I mean only black mark we had was with our design appointment. Being first timers, and the fact that Highland gives you more choices in materials than Lowe's, 3 hours just isn't enough to figure it all out. For example, there was easily 40 choices of brick and 20 choices of stone. Easy to pick one of each but hard to pick something that looks great together. The person that was supposed to be there guiding us wasn't very helpful at all! In the end we had to return to the design center 2 more times on our own to get things looking right. Been in our house 2 months and weve really enjoyed it so far. Had some issues with the water heater and sprinklers, but HH was quick to address them. Excellent construction management

We had a great experience with our salesperson. She delivered everything she promised and she was a great help with understanding the process of building with Highland. The project manager did an equally fabulous job. He listened to our concerns and went above and beyond to deliver what he could. Past those two it was sometimes a struggle to get answers or help with the things we wanted for our house. For the new home buyer I would recommend making a list of the things important to you, floor plan, finishes, outdoor space, to name a few. Look at all possible plans and work hard at the design center to get what you want while staying in your budget. They have things they forgot they had, so bring pictures of what you want. While our Highland Home looks nice from the outside, it has been one frustration after another assuming ownership of this house. From failed promises to install a barrier wall that resulted in a vandal driving through our front yard (in a gated community, no less) resulting in hundreds of dollars of additional watering fees due to re-sodding, to HVAC duct work coming apart in the attic, to many other small to large issues, this has not been the experience described to us as we selected this builder and community. Perhaps ours is a unique case, but it doesn't feel that way when we speak to others in our neighborhood. Love my new home but there should be more attention to the little details that stand out once you move in. Maybe not so rushed to make sure everything is correct. Overall I would rate a 4 out of 5 stars. There’s always room for improvement!

This was my first new home “build” from picking home plan to selecting colors and materials. I can’t say enough good things about the professionalism of all Highland Homes employees. The service provided by the design center, the ease of completing documents to get the process and my selections priced, the pre-construction meeting was very helpful and gave me a chance to make sure all the add ons I wanted were included. The construction project manager was the best! He answered “all” inquiries within a few hours or minutes and followed through on everything, I’m not sure without Rich B. this entire process would have been the success it has been! My wife and I love the home; however, our AC unit is not up to par. The temp in the house is 72 degrees, but the humidity level has been as high as 83%. We bought a small portable dehumidifier to help control the humidity level to something a little more tolerable, like 50-55%.

Once you move in you'll appreciate all the attention to the homeowner's actual living such as the wider driveways and wider lead walks to the front doors. That they cared enough to spend extra money before entering the home. The impressive roof pitches help the Texas hot air escape out of the attic as well give elegant curbside appeal. Every employee is an owner and it shows in their commitment.

I love my new home, it has everything that my family and I needed. Highland’s Team was a pleasure to work with from day 1, they provided and lot of information and encourage research of our new home, what a great experience.

HAVE BEEN A HIGHLAND HOME OWNER FOR 2 MONTHS AND I AM CURRENTLY PLEASED WITH THE PROCESS AND THE WAY THE HIGHLAND TEAM HAS HANDLED EVERYTHING SO FAR. WE HAVE A FEW THINGS THAT NEED TO BE TAKEN CARE OF ON OUR PUNCH LIST. I HAVE KNOW DOUBT THAT HIGHLAND WILL TAKE CARE OF THEM. WE ARE VERY HAPPY :)
