I had a great experience with the builder and he met all my needs and addressed all my concerns.

Wade our builder was great at keeping us updated during the build process and responding to our concerns. Went above and beyond in some cases and really appreciate the work that was done. However after close it's been a bit of a different story, the punch list that was supposed to be closed within 30 days is still outstanding. Some of this I understand is because he is busy and getting the trades aligned.

Eva was amazing to work with and even stayed late when our lender was late sending documents

Hands down best builders in San Antonio! Absolutely loved working with Highland homes to have our home built. We were well informed every step of the way! Any questions we had were quickly answered. Dorothy was absolutely amazing from start to finish! We came into San Antonio in Jun and they worked hard to have the house ready way ahead of schedule! The home is absolutely beautiful! I have zero complaints about quality of home we got!

Buying experience was great. Getting things resolved now after the fact has been a task.

The friendliness and responsiveness have been phenomenal. The environment of community is beyond family oriented.

Recommend you go with a different builder. Our experience = we are the quality control for Highland Homes. When we bring up the too many to list issues on this forum with our home, we are told it will be fixed & then ignored. It appears to us that they are building to many homes simultaneously & ignoring the poor craftsmanship of their subcontractors after the paperwork is signed.

Overall experience with Highland Homes was great and the builder was friendly, knowable, and on top of getting our home ready for the closing date. I would definitely recommend purchasing a Highland home to family and friends it's been a great journey into our forever home and loving our home! One final suggestion I would recommend to Highland is never rush to complete a home because workmanship can never be rushed and errors will appear from their work, but ours have been resolved and appreciate Doug resolving those issues.

We had a very smooth home buying experience with Highland. Our home was under construction when we bought it, so most selections had been made. We were, however, able to make a few changes that were important to us, and that process was very easy. Karen sent photos of progress on a weekly basis, and was quick to respond whenever we had questions. Our project manager changed during construction, and the transition to the new project manager went very well. Amilcar was very responsive and easy to work with. We also enjoyed working with Will. We really love our home and are happy that we chose Highland. The only minor disappointment has been the landscaping. Deer are very fond of many of the front yard plants, and much of the sod has struggled to become fully established. Most of this is not under Highland's control, but I think consideration should be given to installing deer resistant plants in the front. On the plus side, both front and back yard were fully landscaped so we could focus on moving in and we didn't have to worry about finishing up the yard. Let me start by saying I’m a first time home buyer, and I want to thank the sales counselor Alan G. He helped me and my family through this whole process by keeping us in the loop when the house was going through its stages of being built to helping us find the right finance team that provided us with a home loan. To answering every and any questions we had about the process and the building of our home in a timely manner. I can’t thank him enough and my family is super grateful for him. And we love the quality of the home and how everything is so spaced out and to whatever I wanted to add to the house it was done. And a huge thank you to the builders that got back and fixed some small things that occurred while settling in the house with fixing things in a timely manner. Buying experience with Highland Home's sales and finance team was great, the construction manager was accessible too... Less stress compared to my previous buying experience. My home floor plan is functional(living and kitchen area) and easy to decorate. The exteriors are well made with high quality materials, with water efficient sods. However, like every new home these days the interior finishing quality isn't that great. The paint quality is poor, you can't wipe off stains without doing touch ups. The toilet water systems are old-school and not efficient. The doors are not tight enough allowing energy losses mostly in the attic areas. I believe some of these issues could be avoided if you build from scratch, you can pick energy efficient items. The warranty respond team can do better. We love the layout and floor plan, however, that is the extent of our happiness. For the most part, every sales rep and/or project manager or superintendent was pleasant to work with, but the follow through was lacking. The quality of workmanship and materials was abysmal, not something worthy of aligning itself the reputation Highland Homes has come to have over the years. Simply put, anyone on the executive leadership team would be disappointed...except for maybe the person trying to cut costs or save a dollar, it shows with the contractors working in this subdivision. In some aspects, we are heavily using the 1 year warranty to get things right, in other aspects we are doing it ourselves because we take pride in our work and attention to detail is of the utmost importance. My first highland home and it was awesome! Lance, max and Alan did a great job with our new home!

For the most part, the experience was pretty good. Whether it was the sales person or the loan officer that was all a great experience. What was not a great experience was the sloppiness of following up on actions needing addressed prior to and after closing (entry light crooked, master tub faucet leaking, etc.) and the lack of quality painting throughout the house. We spent an entire day scraping paint droppings off of our tile floor just so that we could seal all of the tile throughout the house. I assume it’s hard to find good painters, but someone should’ve followed up after the painters finished and made them clean up after themselves. With the amount of money that was spent to purchase this house, I expected better. On a different note, all of the warranty items that I have requested action on, have been followed up on very promptly, and they have been doing a very good job in this area. ... More

The more time I spend here the more issues I find with the home. It is quite obvious that the builders go as fast as possible without attention to detail, resulting in imperfections throughout the home. One issue for example is that I find dried up paint on the carpet or flooring throughout the entire home. I have been slowly trying to fix this but it's an issue that shouldn't be there in the first place.

The home warranty was explained fully by your representative. However, when having submitted our varied requests for service through the website, there was NO, repeat NO, response towards resolution nor even an attempt to contact us. When after notifying the warranty representative, we have yet to hear anything in response. We are sadly disappointed since some of the issues were known prior to closure. Unacceptable comes to mind.

Cheap materials, extremely high prices not suitable for the final product. We bought almost 2 months ago and we are still dealing with the same walkthroughs issues from before closing time.

My experience with Highland Homes was exceptional! Working with Rikki, my sales counselor, and Cliff, the Construction Manager was seamless from start to finish. Communication and workmanship was wonderful. I highly recommend Highland Homes! Plus, I really liked reading the history behind how Highland Homes came to be.

My husband and I chose Highland Homes because, in the past, we have had great experiences with the builder. Our experience in the building process was very good, but once we moved in, we learned that there are things that were done poorly that will not be fixed because they're not "warrantable items." It is disappointing that things are breaking and materials aren't of the quality that we paid and now we have to deal with it. Our builder representative is amazing, realistic, honest, and responsive so we have no complaints there. But with what we paid for the house, the materials and work should have been better. ... More

Sales process was easy. My sales consultant did a great job. The home is beautiful. We got everything we wanted. Now, the attention to the little details is HORRIBLE. There are so many things that need to get fix that if the workers would have been paying attention, it would have gotten done correctly the 1st time. Now, I'm having to take time away from my week to be here for repairs. It's ridiculous and very annoying.
