Glad we had highland homes as our builder.

Overall a good experience. Was a little disappointed that some things weren’t done right the first time and had to have someone come fix it. We love our home though

Easy to work with. Builder Dave was great.

Still waiting for a microwave trim piece, paint kit that was promised, and proof of purchase for appliances so we can get a warranty item taken care of. Going on three months now to resolve these issues !!!

We were pleased overall with our building experience with Highland Homes. There were some quality of workmanship issues with some of the finishing crews at the end of our build, but our builder was helpful in trying to resolve those issues. Some have been resolved, and others still have a resolution being worked towards. That part has been very frustrating for a new homeowner.

My experience with Highland did not meet the level of quality I expected. The team is very attentive during the sales process, but once closing is complete, the follow‑up and customer support seem to disappear. Follow‑through is one of the most important parts of any home purchase, and Highland needs to remember that. The workmanship has the potential to be excellent, but only if the crews take their time and do the job correctly the first time. For example, I watched a worker remove a tree from my backyard. Even though he had bags of planting soil on his truck, he chose instead to fill the hole with dry dirt taken from the empty lot next door. Why weren’t the bags of topsoil used in my yard as intended? The issues we have are all post move-in for and finish and the lack of responsiveness and caring. Things were told to us that never occurred or multiple tickets were submitted for the same issue over the course of weeks. At week eight there are still unresolved issues from move in.

Working with the Highland office girls and the construction supervisor has been overall positive. I have been in the home since mid November, and continue to find things that the actual construction workers missed doing or did poorly. I guess it's hard to find good carpentry these days. The Highland homes have good curb appeal, that's what caught my eye.

I will preface this message by saying our experience with the sales counselor, Thea, and on site construction supervisor. Chuck, has been positive. However, I don’t believe that our Highland home was/is a good value. There were issues before we moved in. There have been issues that we continue to deal with and new items of poor quality and craftsmanship seem to surface almost daily. We had heard very positive comments about the quality of Highland homes, and I believe in other homes, that’s accurate, however, this home does not appear to have been built in the same manner. My list of items to be addressed continues to grow, but we really would like someone at the corporate level to either come to our house or talk with us directly about these ongoing issues and overall poor quality. Wade our builder was great at keeping us updated during the build process and responding to our concerns. Went above and beyond in some cases and really appreciate the work that was done. However after close it's been a bit of a different story, the punch list that was supposed to be closed within 30 days is still outstanding. Some of this I understand is because he is busy and getting the trades aligned.

For the most part, the experience was pretty good. Whether it was the sales person or the loan officer that was all a great experience. What was not a great experience was the sloppiness of following up on actions needing addressed prior to and after closing (entry light crooked, master tub faucet leaking, etc.) and the lack of quality painting throughout the house. We spent an entire day scraping paint droppings off of our tile floor just so that we could seal all of the tile throughout the house. I assume it’s hard to find good painters, but someone should’ve followed up after the painters finished and made them clean up after themselves. With the amount of money that was spent to purchase this house, I expected better. On a different note, all of the warranty items that I have requested action on, have been followed up on very promptly, and they have been doing a very good job in this area. ... More

We like our home overall and the options and features that were offered. Unfortunately we’ve found many quality issues in the first couple of months that we’ve lived in the home. Many of them were things we brought up prior to moving in to our home. It has been very disruptive to our lives working through the warranty process to resolve issues and often requiring multiple attempts to resolve the issues. Many of the issues we’ve just elected to resolve ourselves because they’re things we’re capable of fixing it and we don’t trust that it’ll be done right. My wife and I bought this beautiful home and we are very happy. Even after being in the home for 2 months, we still find it unbelievable to be in this house. We were in the process of buying another home but our close date was extended and we weren’t happy. We looked at other options and found this gem. The house was close to being completed so we only had to wait about a month before we closed. Our walk through went well and any issues we found were minor and fixed quickly. Now that we are in the house, at this time my biggest issue is this hole in my front yard with a wire sticking out of it. I’ve addressed it several times with my POC (Sam) but nothing has been done about it. Overall, we are quite happy with our new home. The sales team and construction supervisor have been easy to work with. Supply chain issues and labor availability have caused problems but those are being sorted out over time. All in all, we would recommend Highland Homes as a builder, but in today's environment it would be advisable to have a flexible move date.

Tough time to build and buy a new home. High prices with limited supplies and limited laborers. Our General Contractor, Dave, did a great job working through issues and working directly with us. Hard to believe we paid such a high price for the home and that’s no one’s fault it’s just the way it is in this current market.

For the most part the home is very nice. Quite a few of the finishes are cheap for the price we paid for the home and we've needed lots of things fixed, straightened, touched up, or replaced already. Somethings are fixed quickly and others have taken a very long time. Double check the listing you buy from as well. Ours said the house would come with gutters...it didn't, a double oven, it didn't, and other things like this.

Sales team in Ventana is fabulous. However the shortages and manpower caused us numerous headaches. We had a list of over 50 uncompleted items when we moved in. After 3 months it is still not completed. Bette attention paid to this would be helpful. I do still think Highland builds a great home.

Overall we are happy with the home. We have wanted to build this floor plan for several years. The architectural styling is very aesthetically pleasing. The high ceilings make the house feel very comfortable. Unfortunately, building the house was a painful process. Seems like current housing demands and supply of crews significantly impacted the process. Current supply shortages required brick, rock and granite re-selection. Most of the sub-contractors seem to rush through their work, leading to many items requiring revision. The quality of work seemed to not be of importance, unless addressed by the consumer. It did feel that only a few crews took pride in their work (mason, cabinetry, landscape). Some steps of the build seemed to be out of order (carpet installed prior to paint/trim work completion) leading to stained carpet. The original estimation of the home completion was five months. The build ended up taking 13 months from date of signing. A home that had the foundation poured two days before ours, was completed two months ahead of ours. Closing day was chaos. Normally one would not close until all pending repairs were completed. However, we had been stuck in an apartment for longer than anticipated. Fortunately the warranty claim submission process is streamlined and the construction manager stays on top of pending items. ... More

This is our 3rd Highland home. We had a great experience working with the Highland team leading up to the purchase. Completing the punch list after the purchase has been challenging.

I like the floor plan.

We are happy with our house. We did experience frustrating delays and poor communication. We like our builder, but he is spread to thin. We are still waiting on incomplete items. There is paint on our wood floors, our garage door needs another coat of paint, rust ring from a paint can on one of our bathroom counters. It would be nice for someone to follow up a month or two after move in to address these kind of concerns. The one area where the craftsmanship could be better is the cabinets.

Jon, the salesman, was shady and would tell us whatever he thought would get us to sign. Fortunately for us, we always recorded and/or had a witness present to validate our statements. We had to deal directly with the regional lead to finally come to a resolution, including intentionally misleading us regarding the 20k incentive. He was just as deceptive regarding what changes we could make (we wanted a circular tub). After our earnest deposit cleared, it came to light that we couldn’t do that. He also misled us by 2 weeks regarding closing (the date changed within a week after we went under contract and the construction manager had no idea why the salesman had fabricated the completion date). After we moved inC we had continuous issues with the air conditioners and plumbing (hot water would either take more than 6 minutes to actually get hot, or we would lose the hot water mid-shower). It took at least 3 attempts per issue to make progress. We will see if the latest bandaids work or not. Of note, the construction managers (David and Caleb) have been amazing through it all and are the only reason we haven’t already filed suit against highland. ... More

Every door knob has fallen off, the hardware is so cheap. 4 toilets and every handle is missing pieces in the back. Washers missing. It’s embarrassing to bring people in to my home. The toilets and tubs backed up in 1st week. The stench of sewage was something we had to live with for a month, with a one year old and three year old. The worst thing is I have kids and the rails have fallen through upstairs. Allowing the ability for one of my kids to fall through the railing. Can provide time stamped pics for everything. The water heaters were not working for the 1st month of ownership. They were replaced. My kids had to bathe at a family members home for weeks. The lack of insulation is insane. Not only for sound but the cold. I have a thermal camera for hunting and looked at the wall and laughed. ... More
