In a heart beat, I would overall recommend the builder.

Enjoyable buying experience. While I am very aware builders are overwhelmed with strong demand, logistic and employment issues, follow up on completing punch list items could be faster.

Highland homes are nice homes. I closed on my home three weeks before I moved in. I went over the "punch" list and left a key for the workers to complete it before I moved in. A lot of the things were not completed and I am still waiting for it to be done over 6 weeks later. The cleaning of the home was sub-par. Attention to detail was horrible. You would think for the price you pay, it would have been better. I love my home but expected better customer service.

The home buy experience was very easy. It was less stressful then other homes we have bought. The quality of a Highland home is amazing. They take the time to show you how to operate all the modern convenience.

Building a home during a pandemic was going to be a challenge under any circumstances. While our build took quite a bit longer to complete than originally thought, we believe Highland was able to do it the fastest of probably any builder at the time. The most important thing to note is that at the end of this process, we still adore our project manager, Matt, and salesperson/assistant to anything we ever need, Lesli, and that says a lot! We consider them both dear friends. It was so reassuring to always feel that the people working with us were on our team, they advocated for us because they cared about what we cared about. Any issues that arise can be handled well when you have a team like this. And now that we’ve lived in the home for a few months, as things come up (and they always will) Highland is prompt to address any concerns. Our only lingering concern is the amount of construction debris, plastic and trash that is leftover and strewn across the beautiful acreage adjacent to our home. They of course tried to contain this but wind carries trash away and the field really needs to be cleaned up. We bought this lot because of the beautiful views and they don’t fill us with joy like they did before we built here because of the trash….there are two levels of fencing separating us from the fields or we would clean it ourselves. We are still hopeful it’s part of the plan that this will be cleaned up. But overall we are thrilled with our home and would choose Highland again. ... More

Lots of concrete at bottom of foundation, grass unable to grow very unprofessional very disappointing, my last home were a Highland Home.

Highland Homes does a great job laying out the plan, locking in the price, and then providing flexibility in the build as things progress. They do quality work and are responsive to questions along the way. Very transparent and honest; trustworthy.

Overall we did have a good experience with both our Highland Rep and the builder. We were disappointed that we did not get the specific model that we wanted, but understand the limitation with repetitive designs. We would indeed work with our rep (Ashley) our builder (Shane) and would buy Highland again. The flat pain on the walls is probably the one issue we had as it marks up very easy and required significant touch ups after moving in. Had other, minor fixable issues when we moved in but overall very satisfied with our home.

The builder made many promises to correct some issues. Never completed!

The house is nice but built quickly and thrown together.

We were a little disappointed in the quality of the work. It did not match the quality that we would associate with a name like Highlands. In all fairness, the construction manager has been very responsive to our concerns regarding certain issues with the house to make sure the issues have been resolved.

There needs to be more communication with the trades when constructing the homes. Quality and workmanship seem to suffer and it creates unnecessary construction rework. Relator representing Highland needs to follow through in a timely fashion on promises deliverables to Highland customers. For the price it's a good value. If you're building from the ground up, keep in touch with the construction manager and make on site visits to check progress.

Loved the quality of the home, but I do wish certain things I knew what I know now. I do wish they have a better option at design center and not charge u so much for little things like tiles I’m sure they already have that price included in the house

Stay involved throughout the build and demand quality work. You will have less issues after you close. Pat in the office was spectacular. She was extremely helpful.

We have had many issues, some still have not been reconciled. since we moved in back in June 2022.

We love our home, but nobody should finish a building project and wish things were different or with plans to fix things on your own at a later date. Unfortunately that was our experience. Our process began with a new hire running our design meeting. We were given no direction, no choices, and he had very few answers to questions we asked regarding upgrades. Having now gone through the process, there should have been a book or list to direct the choices we were being asked to make. Through the beginning of building our construction manager was great about updating us weekly as to what would be happening, but 5 weeks in her updates disappeared and would only answer emails on her timetable. She was completely unavailable outside of very limited set hours, which required us to take time off of work to come meet with her onsite. Late in the process we learned that our brick we chose was not updated in the showroom. The color we thought we had picked had been changed by the manufacturer and never updated the sample in the office. Highland did try to help by allowing us to change the trim colors to brighten the house, but it doesn’t change the fact our brick is not what what we intended it to be. Finally, our final walkthrough was so disappointing. The number of touch ups needed, damaged items, and unfinished projects were astounding. Our project manager assured us it would be done within 5 days of closing, but 6 weeks later we were finally finishing up the final walkthrough punch list. I know no house will ever be perfect, there will always be imperfections that only you the homeowner sees, but that unfortunately was not the case here. I have had multiple issues with my home since moving in. Despite letting it be known that I have these issues they remain unresolved. I would recommend going with a builder who is a bit higher quality.

The sales component was very friendly and helpful. The quality after has left much to be desired. Needed assistance has been difficult to obtain. Things stated as taken care of were not, quality of repairs provided have been substandard and support as well. The list is to long to discuss here.

Long list of repairs needed and not a single 1 started 2 months after first reported issue. Poor workmanship with repairs needed for nearly aspect of the build (windows, floor, fixtures, paint, rails, plumbing, etc)

Building time took longer than expected due to mistakes, such as not ordering the correct MTL, delays with getting contractors to do work, and a tremendous amount of required fixes/redo's during the build process. Subcontractors had to constantly come back to fix things that should have been done right the first time. Appears subcontractors just want to get the job done quickly so they can go to next job. Overall workmanship was poor. This is not the project manager's fault. Put them in a difficult position. And not impressed with selection of materials, for instance cabinets are cheap. Had soft closed cabinets installed and the slides are cheap and not smooth. Highland has fixed many times and the final answer is that is the way they are. Had these before, and never had this problem. So, overall, not impressed with Highland when it comes to materials and how this house was built. The people, sales dept, project manager, tried and worked hard to satisfy us. I tried to have double rod added to master bedroom. Would not do it. And don't like that no bathroom door in house is more than 24" wide. Tried to extend back patio that was within boundaries, would not do. I could go on and on.... Some things they do don't make sense, that would be low cost and be better for owner. Now, I have to pay extra to have these things done that would have been lower cost to do during the build. ... Overall not happy, 8 miserable months.

Not the best experience buying this spec home in 12/21. Transaction was rushed, 3 weeks from contract to close. But after we closed, it seemed like everyone vanished. Sure, Highland sold their home and got their money but what about the after sale support? Warranty repairs weren't responded to in a timely manner...there wasn't much I liked about the entire process or the Company at the time. After about 6 months though, our home was assigned to a new warranty manager, Corey, who was awesome. He was instrumental in getting our warranty requests completed. He was a positive light in this transaction. We've since moved into another Highland Home and that entire process was awesome. It completely changed my view of this company. ... More

This has been one of the worst home building experiences I’ve ever had or heard of. Nothing but issues all around and it’s taking weeks to get resolutions. When one thing is fixed, something else comes up. I don’t understand how this company is rated “high” when I’ve had nothing but problems. Home was poorly crafted and rushed to be completed.

We had heard only good things about Highland, so we were excited about our new home purchase. However, we've had nothing but issues with the house since closing. We've had at least 6 work orders for repairs on items that were not installed correctly, already broken, or just plain shoddy craftsmanship. Flooring that's come apart, cracked tile and leaking in the showers, carpet that is not nailed down and is exposing wood underneath, dishwasher with no proper padding or insulation, uneven walls and baseboards throughout, bent air vents, broken window latches, uneven flooring with lumps throughout the carpeted areas. We find new items each day. It is clear now that the house was built as quickly as possible, with little to no attention to the details that make buying a new home so rewarding. I don't think we would ever purchase a Highland home again knowing what we know now. Cheap labor + fast build + poor products in the home = a really disappointed buyer who now has to keep pouring money into an already expensive home.
