Long list of repairs needed and not a single 1 started 2 months after first reported issue. Poor workmanship with repairs needed for nearly aspect of the build (windows, floor, fixtures, paint, rails, plumbing, etc)

The sales rep at Highland Homes was mediocre. Once I signed the contract I never heard from him again. I closed on November 26, and I was just given the information to set up my key pad and alarm system on 1/27/25 from the builder. Shane and the warranty department was great and fixed my issues in a timely manner. I work for a builder and was honestly appalled at the service, considering the great reputation of Highland Homes. The reason why I bought this home honestly is because of the community, my lender Reggie and the house was designed to my liking. Building time took longer than expected due to mistakes, such as not ordering the correct MTL, delays with getting contractors to do work, and a tremendous amount of required fixes/redo's during the build process. Subcontractors had to constantly come back to fix things that should have been done right the first time. Appears subcontractors just want to get the job done quickly so they can go to next job. Overall workmanship was poor. This is not the project manager's fault. Put them in a difficult position. And not impressed with selection of materials, for instance cabinets are cheap. Had soft closed cabinets installed and the slides are cheap and not smooth. Highland has fixed many times and the final answer is that is the way they are. Had these before, and never had this problem. So, overall, not impressed with Highland when it comes to materials and how this house was built. The people, sales dept, project manager, tried and worked hard to satisfy us. I tried to have double rod added to master bedroom. Would not do it. And don't like that no bathroom door in house is more than 24" wide. Tried to extend back patio that was within boundaries, would not do. I could go on and on.... Some things they do don't make sense, that would be low cost and be better for owner. Now, I have to pay extra to have these things done that would have been lower cost to do during the build. ... Overall not happy, 8 miserable months.

Not the best experience buying this spec home in 12/21. Transaction was rushed, 3 weeks from contract to close. But after we closed, it seemed like everyone vanished. Sure, Highland sold their home and got their money but what about the after sale support? Warranty repairs weren't responded to in a timely manner...there wasn't much I liked about the entire process or the Company at the time. After about 6 months though, our home was assigned to a new warranty manager, Corey, who was awesome. He was instrumental in getting our warranty requests completed. He was a positive light in this transaction. We've since moved into another Highland Home and that entire process was awesome. It completely changed my view of this company. ... More

This has been one of the worst home building experiences I’ve ever had or heard of. Nothing but issues all around and it’s taking weeks to get resolutions. When one thing is fixed, something else comes up. I don’t understand how this company is rated “high” when I’ve had nothing but problems. Home was poorly crafted and rushed to be completed.

We had heard only good things about Highland, so we were excited about our new home purchase. However, we've had nothing but issues with the house since closing. We've had at least 6 work orders for repairs on items that were not installed correctly, already broken, or just plain shoddy craftsmanship. Flooring that's come apart, cracked tile and leaking in the showers, carpet that is not nailed down and is exposing wood underneath, dishwasher with no proper padding or insulation, uneven walls and baseboards throughout, bent air vents, broken window latches, uneven flooring with lumps throughout the carpeted areas. We find new items each day. It is clear now that the house was built as quickly as possible, with little to no attention to the details that make buying a new home so rewarding. I don't think we would ever purchase a Highland home again knowing what we know now. Cheap labor + fast build + poor products in the home = a really disappointed buyer who now has to keep pouring money into an already expensive home. Bad, inconsiderate and condescending staff even when reached out to Management

We signed a contract on a fully framed house at the end of November 2021 to close in April latest May and we ended up closing in mid August, 2022. It’s almost as if they were stringing us along for 9 months hoping that we would back out and sell the home for a higher price. After 9 months of waiting, we are in a “new” home that has electrical issues, AC issues, and a bunch of things done in hurry that looks unfinished. One AC vent started to rattle so loud in under a month it’ll wake me up at night. The driveway looks like it took some damage and they just threw concrete at it and didn’t even smith it out. Everyone on the block (including those with the same home design) has an additional side garden and we don’t. There is only one spigot attached to the home and it’s not even conveniently placed near the garden or back. Maybe it’s for the neighbor to use. Not thoughtful at all. They cut a lot of corners and it shows. ... More

Did not follow through on work or promises. Awful work ethic, many mistakes were made and not fixed. Poor work quality, things were left out and messy, extremely unprofessional.
