Feel that the construction superintendent and his staff are rushed by the bean counters at corporate to close prematurely before the home is completed. Start up is slow, took about 3 months after signing to break ground, then things move along at a steady pace. Towards the end, everything seems rushed, builder had to change original closing date because of material issues. Day of closing the builder is still scrambling to finish the home. Neighbors that closed close to our date got the same line, if the city approved a certificate of occupancy, builder closed, no mater if the house was finished or what. May be legal, but not ethical. Beware and stand your ground, don't close if you are not satisfied at final walk through. ... More

I would buy from KHov again.

The house was move in ready but there was a lot discrepancies that needed to be addressed. I felt unprepared when I moved in. It’s an information overload but also there is information that is never given. I was given answered to my questions in the moment only to find out they were wrong answers and made me feel lied to. The warranty person has been great. When I do have tickets they are handled immediately or I get a call immediately that it will be handled. I wish the builders took more care before we moved in so I didn’t have strangers in my house for warranty. It’s a huge stressor to me to find someone who can be here for it, or take time off to be home fortunately our warranty agent usually plans it all for the same day. Is it possible that if the builders took more caution it would have been done prior too. Some information I asked for the builders refused to give me. Information on what my electrical is rated and where the wires are were denied to me which is crazy because as I improve my house I don’t know what or where my electrical is. They also aren’t sure what the inside paint colors are for doors and baseboards. I would of liked all this in my email or printed information. The warranty agent has been very helpful, but I wish the builders either had more time, been more aware of the trades and their workmanship so I wouldn’t have to call warranty always. Quality home with a good team to get it built and this sales team were extremely supportive to the buyer on tough times and rising interest rates.

The whole process was a bit hiccuping with Change of staff. But the orientation, home maintenance and appliance review for extended warranty was very detailed and thorough. I appreciate follow up calls to remind me of ownership responsibilities and privilege.

It was a smooth process buying a home, sales agent was very helpful and professional

Unfortunately, I wasn't the original buyer so I didn't get to pick out any of my home's features. Even though only the frame work was up and nothing else, I couldn't add or subtract anything. I paid a higher price than the original buyers without any of the "perks". Thank goodness I liked what had been picked out as far as the coloring of the flooring, paint and exterior. However, it would have been nice to at least add some features like toilet paper holders or exterior lights over the garage. All the staff understood my frustration and could only quote back that to me that I wasn't the original buyer. : ( ... More

We have a lot of quality workmanship issues including mold that we had to deal with in a brand new home.

Communication was great. Any issues that came up, they corrected right away.

Over all a decent buying experience

The sales team and wrap up team were great. The financing experiment was brutal.

We were so happy to find a house! The market became crazy and builders were taking advantage! KHOV helped us get into our brand new home without pushing up the cost unnecessarily and gave us a great timeline. They were done on time with no delays and kept us informed with photos and phone calls once a week We love our new community and our neighbors are great! Our house has tons of storage and our backyard has so much room we are putting in a pool! Thanks to KHOV and the people on site and in the office we have our brand new home!

This experience is a journey, but one well worth it! If home percentage rates were locked in at the time of the deposit and not at the time of closing, it would be perfect! However, I’m still happy with the process… the entire KHOV team did a wonderful job! Thank you!

Tyler, Thank you for reaching out to us. The design options met our expectations. The follow through on the build and the attention to detail by the building team was better than expected. We had one item we were disappointed with (front skin on the island in the kitchen), but this is being resolved. However, we did have an issue with the completion time for the build of our home. Our original closing date was June 22nd. We do not live in Arizona yet, and scheduled travel for the walk through and closing. Two days prior to leaving for AZ, we were informed the closing would have to be moved out by three weeks because sign off was not obtained from the City of Cave Creek. We still traveled to AZ for the walk through, and noted the items needing correction. The reschedule of the closing caused problems for us in regard to rescheduling medical appointments and having to provide additional documentation to KHovnanian Mortgage. The aggravation resulting from additional documentation from your mortgage company was not appreciated. The mortgage company informed we would not be able to close on the new date due to an issue with Anne's short term disability extension. This was not an issue on the original closing date, but we were told there would be a $500 per day fee for every day past the second closing date. As a result, Anne had to return to work prior to her doctor's recommendation to satisfy the mortgage company. After satisfying the mortgage company to meet the closing date and to avoid the $500 per day fee fine, we received the new closing documents. When the closing documents were presented, we noted that we should not be charged the $175 for a mobile notary - this expense was caused by the build delay of not having sign offs in place prior to notifying us of the first closing date. After discussing this with your closing team we were provided new closing documents with the $175 fee being paid by the builder (copy of this is attached). Then, a third set of closing documents were sent to us with the fee again being charged to the buyer. We ended up paying the fee. To summarize, we are pleased with our home, but not pleased with our experience with your mortgage company. If we had to do this again, we would not use KHovnanian American Mortgage, nor recommend them to anyone. The $175 fee should be refunded to us. ... More

Happy with the home and finishing.

Everything was great with KHov up to the point of closing open items after we closed on the home. My expectations were very high given how smooth the buying and design processes went. Unfortunately, the response to open issues has been slow and not efficient at all. We are constantly having to call folks to follow up, they provide windows of time that are not met and some of the contractors are simply sloppy. The people in charge are nice, but somehow they are not as responsive as you would think they should be. I will take a few months to have our house fully "done".

The customer service from all of Hovnanian's representatives was excellent!

Onsite.crew were great. Anthony, Carl and Sabrina helped with anything they could to help make the process go smooth. I can’t say that about the home office. Much confusion on the closing date with some people not giving me true stories. Didn’t get closing numbers till the day before and they were wrong and had to be corrected. Seemed like the office didn’t communicate very well the the field and me.

We bought a model home so we knew we were going to do some renovations and knew the stuff we were replacing was cheaper quality. Overall, we really love our home and are happy with it. Most of the staff was very friendly and helpful. Overall score would be 4.75 stars.

Mark the contractor has been wonderful and responsive to any issues. Matt, the sales guy is very likable and easy to get along with.

The sales office was great. The building work met my expectations. The in house loan process was not the greatest and the representative (Nicole) made me feel that my time and business was not important. Most of the time she kept requesting things after hours and delayed response asking for additional items that I had to leave the house to retrieve during this COVID pandemic. Never apologized and simply not a way to do business and lack of empathy.

Our home is immaculate, The site realtor Shauna and site manager Mike were fantastic, we appreciate all their help and insight, My only issue came with getting a loan officer to start the process. We were shuffled between three different loan officers and had two different loan processors. We are thankful for our home and I did refer my friend to Khov their new home build.

It was streamlined but craftsmanship could be improved

Initial item/punch lists not handled well or at all. New person in charge of fixing items is on it and awesome. Not thrilled with paint option for texture delete walls. I would have paid for upgrade to next paint level. House interior needs to be painted already because white flat gets marked up by the air. Not a reasonable thing to have to do after 3 months. Cabinet choices were not great for price point of house, as well as lack of cabinets/closets. Gourmet kitchen has a tiny fridge. I would extend a few of the options. More cabinets through kitchen dining area/ offer some floor design and kitchen designs ideas/portfolio ahead of design process to make that a more comfortable process. The house is nice but some of these issues would have made it to next level. Sales people and construction managers were very helpful. Financing should have had a 2-3 yr rate buydown because expecting to buy a home in 3-4 percent and it being 3 percent higher is not a good move. ... More
