The buying experience had mostly 5 star components along with a couple sub-par elements. Erika and Amy from Sales have been very helpful, even after the sale they continue to provide support. Tyson and Scott in Construction have been responsive and Alyssa in Customer Support is my best resource for getting issues resolved. Overall quality is typical for spec home ("fast") builders, highlighted by the design and energy efficiency features and degraded by corporate decisions that may make sense from KHOV's financial perspective but can leave lasting issues with the homeowner. Every builder is, of course, at the mercy of the local trades; but what sets builders apart is how they fix and take care of issues with the build. KHOV does this. They take care of the issues/make sure they get taken care of, and are responsive and agreeable with regard to fixing the inevitable issues that arise from the local trades. Overall, a great home and a great builder.

Brandon was always extremely helpful and willing to answer all of my questions. He is friendly, knowledgeable and always approachable which I've appreciated. You guys need 1,000 Brandons! Unlike Dustin, my main contact who always made me feel like I was bothering him. To no surprise, he left the company and went into some sort of Construction endeavor if I remember correctly which is probably better suited for him. He should NOT be in any sort of Customer Service position. Don't get me wrong, he addressed things because I pushed for them but I could tell by our interactions that he was overwhelmed, over worked and pretty much hated his job. The whole process was a bit hiccuping with Change of staff. But the orientation, home maintenance and appliance review for extended warranty was very detailed and thorough. I appreciate follow up calls to remind me of ownership responsibilities and privilege.

Unfortunately, I wasn't the original buyer so I didn't get to pick out any of my home's features. Even though only the frame work was up and nothing else, I couldn't add or subtract anything. I paid a higher price than the original buyers without any of the "perks". Thank goodness I liked what had been picked out as far as the coloring of the flooring, paint and exterior. However, it would have been nice to at least add some features like toilet paper holders or exterior lights over the garage. The sales team and wrap up team were great. The financing experiment was brutal.

This experience is a journey, but one well worth it! If home percentage rates were locked in at the time of the deposit and not at the time of closing, it would be perfect! However, I’m still happy with the process… the entire KHOV team did a wonderful job! Thank you!

We bought a model home so we knew we were going to do some renovations and knew the stuff we were replacing was cheaper quality. Overall, we really love our home and are happy with it. Most of the staff was very friendly and helpful. Overall score would be 4.75 stars.

The sales office was great. The building work met my expectations. The in house loan process was not the greatest and the representative (Nicole) made me feel that my time and business was not important. Most of the time she kept requesting things after hours and delayed response asking for additional items that I had to leave the house to retrieve during this COVID pandemic. Never apologized and simply not a way to do business and lack of empathy.

Our home is beautiful but there has been a lack of quality re-work on concern areas.

The loan processing was extraordinary.. But the final walkthrough of the house before closing was not upto the mark... all the issue pointed put during first walk through were not corrected and what was found was the blue tape was just removed and when finally asked they suggested we raise. Maintenance request to complete the issues.. which was not expected..construction supervisor need to take care of these issues for these issues for a better experience to new home owners

I loved the follow up process from Ben, as each week went by. Some issues I discovered after closing. The whole house was painted with flat paint, I think it’s dumb. Second major issue, master bathroom light fixtures are all on one switch. That’s just not smart at all.

The house was move in ready but there was a lot discrepancies that needed to be addressed. I felt unprepared when I moved in. It’s an information overload but also there is information that is never given. I was given answered to my questions in the moment only to find out they were wrong answers and made me feel lied to. The warranty person has been great. When I do have tickets they are handled immediately or I get a call immediately that it will be handled. I wish the builders took more care before we moved in so I didn’t have strangers in my house for warranty. It’s a huge stressor to me to find someone who can be here for it, or take time off to be home fortunately our warranty agent usually plans it all for the same day. Is it possible that if the builders took more caution it would have been done prior too. Some information I asked for the builders refused to give me. Information on what my electrical is rated and where the wires are were denied to me which is crazy because as I improve my house I don’t know what or where my electrical is. They also aren’t sure what the inside paint colors are for doors and baseboards. I would of liked all this in my email or printed information. The warranty agent has been very helpful, but I wish the builders either had more time, been more aware of the trades and their workmanship so I wouldn’t have to call warranty always. We were so happy to find a house! The market became crazy and builders were taking advantage! KHOV helped us get into our brand new home without pushing up the cost unnecessarily and gave us a great timeline. They were done on time with no delays and kept us informed with photos and phone calls once a week We love our new community and our neighbors are great! Our house has tons of storage and our backyard has so much room we are putting in a pool! Thanks to KHOV and the people on site and in the office we have our brand new home!

Tyler, Thank you for reaching out to us. The design options met our expectations. The follow through on the build and the attention to detail by the building team was better than expected. We had one item we were disappointed with (front skin on the island in the kitchen), but this is being resolved. However, we did have an issue with the completion time for the build of our home. Our original closing date was June 22nd. We do not live in Arizona yet, and scheduled travel for the walk through and closing. Two days prior to leaving for AZ, we were informed the closing would have to be moved out by three weeks because sign off was not obtained from the City of Cave Creek. We still traveled to AZ for the walk through, and noted the items needing correction. The reschedule of the closing caused problems for us in regard to rescheduling medical appointments and having to provide additional documentation to KHovnanian Mortgage. The aggravation resulting from additional documentation from your mortgage company was not appreciated. The mortgage company informed we would not be able to close on the new date due to an issue with Anne's short term disability extension. This was not an issue on the original closing date, but we were told there would be a $500 per day fee for every day past the second closing date. As a result, Anne had to return to work prior to her doctor's recommendation to satisfy the mortgage company. After satisfying the mortgage company to meet the closing date and to avoid the $500 per day fee fine, we received the new closing documents. When the closing documents were presented, we noted that we should not be charged the $175 for a mobile notary - this expense was caused by the build delay of not having sign offs in place prior to notifying us of the first closing date. After discussing this with your closing team we were provided new closing documents with the $175 fee being paid by the builder (copy of this is attached). Then, a third set of closing documents were sent to us with the fee again being charged to the buyer. We ended up paying the fee. To summarize, we are pleased with our home, but not pleased with our experience with your mortgage company. If we had to do this again, we would not use KHovnanian American Mortgage, nor recommend them to anyone. The $175 fee should be refunded to us. ... More

The customer service from all of Hovnanian's representatives was excellent!

Our home is immaculate, The site realtor Shauna and site manager Mike were fantastic, we appreciate all their help and insight, My only issue came with getting a loan officer to start the process. We were shuffled between three different loan officers and had two different loan processors. We are thankful for our home and I did refer my friend to Khov their new home build.

I thought Dustin did a great job ! Chas Roberts did well too. Irrigation not good at all.

We are happy with our finished home; issues after close are not major and are addressed in a timely manner. But it was very stressful getting here. Our home was 3.5 months late, requiring that we find interim lodging and two moves, costing us over $10K. Our house closed on the last day that our rate lock( that we paid to get) was good for and we had so many delays that we did not trust that we would close before the rate expired. Also, It took me 2+ months of pleading to get the 12 foot wall that was 5 feet from the window side of my house to be redone with view fencing on the top half, restoring light into our house. These are not custom homes but the construction team would try to help make minor changes when asked, but they are under tight rules from the builder. The builder uses a lot of subcontractors for the various activities (stucco, electrical, cabinets, etc) and the subcontractors were of mixed reliability and quality. The lathe and plaster guys walked, leaving our home open to the rainy weather for 9 weeks…. Hopefully the mold that formed was adequately addressed. ... More

Feel that the construction superintendent and his staff are rushed by the bean counters at corporate to close prematurely before the home is completed. Start up is slow, took about 3 months after signing to break ground, then things move along at a steady pace. Towards the end, everything seems rushed, builder had to change original closing date because of material issues. Day of closing the builder is still scrambling to finish the home. Neighbors that closed close to our date got the same line, if the city approved a certificate of occupancy, builder closed, no mater if the house was finished or what. May be legal, but not ethical. Beware and stand your ground, don't close if you are not satisfied at final walk through. ... More
