Starting with the sales experience Sabrina was great. Dustin and Todd were great throughout the walk-through and follow-up. The financing was horrible and I wish we had another options but we needed the builder's incentives for the lower interest rate at the time we purchased. Rob was terrible with communication and made the entire situation very stressful. After we closed we got a letter from another lender with our mortgage statement without anyone telling us our mortgage had been transferred from the builder's financing company to another company. If you choose to buy from K. Hovnanian and use their finance be prepared for great stress and a lack of communication and follow-up. I had to contact my agent multiple time to find out what was even happening. Even the closing agent, Heidi, another K. Hovnanian employee called me to find out about closing because she didn't get the information from the finance team. Good home, well built, only problem we had was in the time it took to build it - three months longer than anticipated

I really appreciated the sales office and the super, Alan. Alan was amazing and Mike and Shane were very attentive. The financial end was unenjoyable at best.

Love my new home. Only thing wrong that I came across was that the color of my house wasn't what I chose, which is upsetting. Also they never showed me proof of what I chose in the 1st place. My guess is the sales person put in my information wrong. So I'm stuck with what I have. Otherwise the house is up to what I expected it to be. Closing and getting everything together wasn't fun. No communication whatsoever until the very last minute, which as a 1st time homebuyer I thought was a nightmare. Would I buy from them again, yes I would. Based on the personal buying experience I have mixed feelings. On the good side, I can commend the sales team, the construction superintendent for the final construction phase, and post-closing service teams. At the same time, there were a number of opportunities for improvement. The house is mostly open frame (very few chip boards to reinforce it). Was quite surprised to see that at this price point. The construction resulted in quite a few deficiencies due to workmanship issues. Some of those took extra time and effort to correct. The selection of upgrades left a really bad impression due to the excessive amounts the builder wanted for some of the options. Finally, the lender team offered non-competitive terms for the loan. So, while it is clear that some of personnel really care and apply themselves, a combination of unskilled trades, and company policies contributed to the less than perfect experience. ... More

Overall, I'm satisfied with our new K Hov home; however, the process to get there was a tedious challenge that required a lot of communication. Thankfully, the sales and construction team were relatively quick to respond to the issues we experienced. Able to temporarily stay with family nearby, I was lucky enough to visit our house frequently as it underwent all phases of construction from framing to close. Along the way, I identified several critical issues with what was being installed -not with the quality of workmanship as much as the accuracy of following what was specified. If I didn't have the luxury of being able to witness the ongoing construction, then my house would have been constructed with several errors requiring rework. It was not a pleasant experience to feel like I had to be construction manager of my own home. I wished K Hov would send out their QA team regularly in order to detect these issues before I could. I found the overall quality of workmanship, which is confined to the local Arizona labor pool and skillset, to be very mediocre at best. Finishes (drywall especially but also paint) were done very sloppily, not to the quality you expect on a home you spent your life saving for. The design of the floorplan and the finishes that were specified are all very appealing, but the execution needs work. This was out first time owning a home that we had built from the ground up. We picked our various colors, etc. Knowing that this house was to mean a lot to us really made a difference. Now that we are in the house, we love it! Selecting, dealing and negotiating was a big impact on us. The sales individual was wonderful, very kind, generous, customer oriented and was very knowledgeable. Once those wishes were submitted and everything else falls to someone at a desk, the journey was not so pleasant. To draw the customer in was great, its the other individuals who need to work on their people skills, throughout its process. To include understanding, knowledgeable of procedures and just down right being pleasant instead of reacting as if it is their next paycheck. We hung in there, and purchased the home we are pleased, however, we wonder if others went through what we went through. ... More

I was surprised at the issues we ran into. Especially the finishes. Painting is really poor. We also had problems with plumbing and lighting. there is a switch in the loft that does not make sense and appears to be a mistake, but it will not be corrected. I continue to find issues.

believe the design of the homes is excellent, but the workmanship is not up to the standards of the design.

The salesperson/ analyst were very responsive. The warranty support team is also very responsive. The quality of craftmanship, materials & quality control checks have an opportunity for improvement.

Great customer service but I feel like more attention needs to be put towards quality checks of completed work. I often had to point out things to be corrected that I felt the construction supervisor should have identified and corrected even before I had to mention it.

Overall, it was not a bad experience at all, but it was not one great either. I understand you have alot of homes to build and alot of warranties to cover, but the overall customer service could be improved on I think. There were many times during the building phases and now in our warranty phase where customer service was lacking, or felt rushed like put a band aid over it and move onto the next house that has issues or questions. Please slow down and explain everything to homeowners as they move into a house. Its a major purchase in life.

We wanted to love this process but there were challenges at every step of the way. The salespeople were not as knowledgeable as they should have been and did not communicate as well as they should have given that we have never built a house before. When we brought up concerns along the way we were told things would be taken care of "later" and that "later" meant after we were moved in. Overall, we are happy with the house (the frame and foundation are good) and we got everything we wanted at a reasonable price but not without loads of stress.

Home was poorly finished. Broken and missing items incorrect tile installed. Very disappointed

I had bought a home in Scottsdale heights phase with good experience. The decided to purchase another home in phase 2. Great disappointment this time around with quality workmanship of tiling, drywall, painting, all sloppy work!!! Yes, of course warranty department stepped in, however, consumed much of my time for miscellaneous vendors to come to do repairs. Plus we have to fight for the repairs, because their vendors including tile, drywall, stucco, noisy a/c unit, kitchen cabinets, and endless list of repairs…they all seem to have one statement the quality is within normal. That Normal is Very Low and Sad standards. This time we don’t feel warranty department really looking out for us. ... More

Love the neighborhood and plan. The sales folks did a good job. The after-sales team has been great.. which is good as there have been a number of issues. The building process itself was the issue. There was a consistent lack of quality. The builder was willing not only to cover up but to lie. Insulation was missing from the wall and ceiling. A water leak at the main was "from rain" six weeks earlier... though no other house had that "rain". Those are just 2 examples of a difficult process. Thankfully, K. Hovaninan IS addressing these issues slowly, but, with honest and quality supervision, there would be fewer issues to address and K. Hovnanian would have earned more stars. KHovnanian Homes has great sales people and that part of the experience is great. They are helpful, responsive, responsible, etc. Unfortunately, a lot of the experience falls off from there. Most importantly, the quality of craftsmanship is subpar and they have trained their PM's and warranty reps to talk a slick game to get inexperienced homeowners to accept VERY POOR quality workmanship everywhere they can get away with it. If you end up buying from KHov, be prepared to see some of the worst finish workmanship you've ever seen and be doubly prepared for their warranty guys to tell you that everything is "within tolerance" including 1" visible seems in drywall, drywall tape showing through crappy level 2 finish, curved walls, glooped on caulking and any other construction material they can pile on to cover up poor workmanship, You will also end up with damaged cabinets that they mark up with pens/touch up kits to cover up the damage their subs cause on EVERY job, you will spend months on your hands and knees trying to remove all of the construction materials that are stuck to your tiles as they NEVER cover their shoes when coming into your house to do finish work after your tile, carpets, etc. are all in. At the end of the day, they are a production company that cares about profits and not people. Just remember that going in and maybe you won't get your expectations up. ... More

I gave 3 stars for their team set up for different needs. There are some good intentions, but lacking quality controls, perhaps, it came from the top. I was impressed at the beginning for weekly conference calls due to COVID, for updates in different phases of construction. There are FOUR poor qualities that I never ever experienced with new construction, but KHovanian, 1. Painting, one coat and sloppy workmanship, exteriors stucco paint was done like a kindergarten coloring, when the painter come touch up, they just put a glob of paint that made it worst. 2. Stucco has spider web cracked all around, i was told construction and service crew that’s NORMAL. 3. Pavers for driveway and no step were not in compliance for safety, again quick sloppy work, tripping hazard. Why no body supervised the quality 4. The easy fix with front landscape but they made into an undesirable offering, just because HOA would take care of it, whatever available on the landscaper truck being flopped down like a muffin tray. No comment sense in that matter. Everything was rushed to close and two major items like garage door was damaged and adjustment was off, made a lot of noise. Pavers driveway and safety no step were all promised by construction supervisor that would have it fixed ASAP, cabinet doors were also damaged. Closed on 7/23/21, today is 9/13/21 nothing was done. Construction crew primary focus to get other houses completed, could careless for my house that already closed, because they already met quota and company already got the money. After the closing, there are several other minor things on punch list, the service team picked up in addition the driveway and garage door. The team was promptly lining up all vendors to take care of things. Except stuff was promised by Construction crew. I felt so uncomfortable dealing with the first guy from service team. I expressed my concern about the poor quality that i mentioned at the beginning, paint, stucco, pavers, landscape, etc. I felt that person was not listening, he was busy talking at me, and told me that kind quality is NORMAL and “that’s why you paid this price” 3/4 million dollar home with poor quality with KHovnian is normal!!! The construction crew also said this poor quality is also NORMAL. One coat of paint, after one or two years it will need to repaint, HOA will increase and we the homeowner will have to pay for it . It’s a perfect scheme from the top. Just because I am a women/non American, I had purchased new construction homes more than average people in the last 16 years in Arizona. The noise from A/C inside the wall in master bedroom is LOUD , again I was told that’s NORMAL. When A/C mechanic came, he said it’s not normal. There’re remedies to fix that, however, builder has to approve it, one month later no one approve it. Just to sum it up, I am very disappointed !!! ... More

The Salesperson was incredibly responsive, she did what she said she'd do and followed up even when the construction crew did not.

Example of issues that should be taken care at the beginning: * door entrance could see light from outside * power in one room did not worked, * outside trim not painted correctly * garage open broken ( did any one tested) * it took 3 weeks to complete the list of the walk before closing ( if I am correct it was suppose to be completed 3 days when we got keys of the house) * we purchase a home to enjoy it not to get point out to people thing they did wrong and have to deal with fixing 3 weeks after closing) * from beginning house plans were not done as we agree . Error by salesman) *

Could do better,if they paid more attention to details.

We were extremely disappointed at our walk-through and after living in the home. Poor workmanship, poor quality of cabinets, trim, doors.

The sales people were great. The house/yard is pieced together with the cheapest materials and products possible, and evidently the cheapest labor. Everything will be "military grade" and that's not a good thing. Just enough to pass inspection is a good way to describe it. Keep your expectations extremely low and you won't be disappointed with the quality.
