My responses reflect the nature of construction and the workmanship provided. We have had numerous warranty issues and found multiple points of careless installation practices. If it wasn't for your sales team and their commitment to deliver on good customer service and product, much of our issues would have gone unaddressed with "canned" responses from our designated home warranties manager. The price we paid for the home is not reflective in the product delivered or the care after the home was turned over. Construction and sales staff had out lot off extra mile efforts to make the house complete on time. But there are very poor quality materials used across and are definitely can be improved. Turnaround to issues is very slow, it’s been quite sometime the issues raised to warranty team, and no one take responsibility to acknowledge for the issues to fix. I think there is more room to improve and would help for next constitution sites

I have to be honest, sometimes the response time took too long if I called someone instead of sending an email. I indicated a few issues when I did my walk through, which are just getting repaired supposedly this Friday, November 13th. My home closed on September 28th. What I have been told is it was the vendors who claimed they were not getting the supplies due to CIVID-19. This very well may be true, but it’s still very frustrating.

I was pleased to buy this house. Quickly that feeling passed after moving in. As stated in the title, the house has had many nagging structural issues. It’s like the builder found the cheapest materials and the least experienced construction workers to build this house. The door brace that leads to the garage wasn’t nailed down, the kitchen cabinet wasn’t nailed down; there was a gap between the door and wall that allowed crickets to enter the home, the floor strip between the bedroom and bathroom wasn’t secured; wholes between the wall and staircase; neglected to install a wall plate for the outlets in one of the bedrooms; nails are still sticking out in one of the bedrooms, now ceiling and wall is literally separating in multiple rooms. Attention to detail was not there

The buying experience was bad as we were hurried to sign the contract and there were lot of things we got misled by the sales team. The contract said serpent blue color in wordings but the color pallet was different. management said it's mistyped. Sales agent mentioned that we will get wifi/ connected switches and later found out it wasn't installed and they said they found out later that it's an option and not standard. We compromised on a lot of things but since we signed the contract we didn't want to lose our deposit. The quality of home is decent not amazing like other good quality builders ... More

We enjoy our home but the process of closing was pretty bad honestly. We understood there would be hiccups along the way for a new build but there were a lot of preventable mistakes. There was especially poor communication between different members of the team to us. For example, our close date got changed but didn't get updated officially so closing had to be delayed. And between the builder, scheduling office, title company and mortgage company everyone kept pointing a finger of whose fault it was. I would rather have had KHOV take initiative more during the process and help solve problems rather than point fingers. I will say, the bright spot during the process was Shawn who actually communicated with me well and problem solved efficiently. Craftmanship has been average at best. Be cautiously aware that the administration side of this company is very unorganized and lacks proper communication.

There is a process missing. We only knew 1 person to contact in the whole home buying process. There is no backup when that person is off on her off days. Communication with 60 house owners is not easy for a single person. Things kept delaying and there was a lack of communication which improved a bit in between but again slowed down. As I said, 60 houses and 1 sales person is not easy for the person. Title signing was delayed multiple times. The title company is completely irresponsible it seems or again doesn’t have capacity to do so many houses. We had to travel from sunnyvale to modesto to get title signed to get keys the same day and that too there was no guarantee that keys will be handed over that day. My wife is pregnant and she had to travel back to sunnyvale immediately from modesto. Title company never responded back until late end of day. My apartment keys were supposed to be handed next day. I had appliances delivery next day. There were many things at stake. After getting the house, there was a different struggle to get things fixed. Again the same issue, 1 person to fix 60 houses. It’s too much of an ask from single person to handle 60 houses. Only after pushing the issues up the chain, things started moving. We thought buying an old house is stressful with bids and all. We fell in love with the homes, they are beautiful. Our sales office was amazing. Jennifer is amazing! The process working with the lender was horrible. He didn't communicate well, they made several mistakes and we didn't trust them. The home closed on the projected date (yay), which was great. We've been in the home for 1 month and we just discovered this weekend that our HVAC was never connected to the gas line. Which makes me worry...how did it pass inspection? What else could be wrong?

Title company has not sent closing papers to my mailing address. Have scanned info., contacted them, and no answer. Also Orange Coast Title delayed closing and cost extra time as they did not approve of my Trust although I have closed over 6 transactions in less than 2 years using first pages of my Trust to take title.. Also, I discovered and said that I paid extra for stainless Steel. Finally person told me they gave me black and would do stainless appliances later. I felt this was hidden from me and no one has contacted nor given info. about Stainless or getting credit back since I paid for it. I also paid for outlet at certain place in bathroom. Agent told someone it didn't matter where it was put, but it did matter to me. Most places would have that in writing rather than signed by me rather than agent misrepresenting what I wanted. Really surprised that company did not care enough about customer service to credit me back $100 . Also I was misled about inside insulation which cost over $900. However, if you are still reading, the floor plan is excellent, and I get many compliments on how much friends and family like this home. Wish you had Title Company that sends closing papers immediately and responds when I contact. 38 days now since I have closed. No closing papers. Decent quality houses but worst communication and post-purchase support. No team to help you or answer your question. You need to be fully dependent on the salesperson who will respond at his/her convenience.

Sonhard to get hold of the salesperson Karam. She answers text messages/ e-mail after 4-5 days. We haven’t moved to the new home, but there’s already lots of “broken” things like the fence not properly installed, roof tile broken, etc, Few days after we moved, we almost got flooded because there’s leak on the kitchen sink.

Sure a New Build may have some issues. We are humans. But turning a blind eyes to obvious issues shows no respect to your Luxury Home Buyers. Why do you look for your customers to overlook your lack of workmanship? An Honest company would walk through and take care of the obvious things. Now we’re working with our 4th warranty person having to explain the same things multiple times! Very disappointed and continue to be.

This is our second KHov home purchase. The first was in Monterey Park in Gilroy, Ca. The quality there was much nicer. This one, we have holes around the outlets, many light switched are setting at an angle. The cabinets are very good quality. We are still picking up cigarette buttes and nails from our front and back yard. It took several tries to reach our service person. The seams for baseboards and door frames have very obvious gaps andWe miss the manual, as the online portal is not secure and we probably wont use it until that is fixed. The thermostats are not centrally located. Overall we are disappointed with the quality and the unfinished look of the home. Our sales person, John was very helpful in our purchase, we needed a quick move in and he delivered. We were very happy with his frankness and his quick responses and his willingness to help. We had a very honest and helpful agent which led us into purchasing this property. The closing and walk thru of this home was/is a nightmare. The mortgage team was deceptive and not there to help the buyer, we were promised a deal and had to argue and lost regardless of the evidence provided regarding his mistake. The superintendent wanted to argue major architectural flaws in the home, stating that regardless of our concerns he "can't and won't change it because of time". It ended up being done! After we closed, we have had a variety of issues with the home, such as a sink leak where the customer service representative refused until forced, to remove the dishwasher where the wall was notibly wet, because he assured us it was dry. Trying to have that properly addressed was a nightmare, having the wrong appliances installed was highly ranked up there with still no resolve. So, no we would never do it again. The craftsmanship is thd lowest I have ever seen and if things were monitored as our house was built than the buyer wouldn't have remorse moving into their finished product. ... More

Response to issues is worst

Sales promised so many things (like Gourmet Kitchen, lower Cabinet in Laundry etc) and ultimately none of them were addressed as I felt they were more focused on selling homes and meeting or exceeding their sales targets and never seemed to consider the buyer as their customer. On the Contrary, the maintenance team led by the construction manager have been very prompt in their responses after closing the home to address any new or outstanding issues.

There was no update through out the construction and emails were hardly answered. Home was not delivered after the closing documents are signed and the account has been funded. There was no respect for Buyers.

Buying a home is a big decision, take extra care on your decision when purchasing from Khovanian, What they think is completed vs my completed are vastly different. If I had to do it over, I would not pay for upgrades and I would use that money for contractors to come in and do it correctly. Their construction division and project management team is broken, they do not manage expectations with the customer. When you get your keys do not expect a clean home or detail work to be completed. I’ve lived in my new home for a month and they still need to paint my trim work, paint all the interior doors and get markings off the kitchen counters. I feel the painters were amateur and not professional. I have paint on all the mirrors and the amount of paint on my new floors is ridiculous. If I had to do it again…I don’t think I would!! ... Not delivered home on time. Pavements already have cracks no one came to fix those. Kitchen blackslash half done.. i was told it will go all the way top.. i have submitted service requests almost month happened no one came to fix those issues. Attic was not painted properly.. Clean up of home was not done properly..

Excuses, excuses, excuses; we admired how Mr. Hovnanian achieved the American dream. We trusted your word. Signed closing documents on October 4, even though work was incomplete trusting what the Hovnanian brand stands for. Today it’s Nov 2, you should see the pictures and read the excuses as to why my home isn’t ready for occupancy.

KHOV, I truly hope this review gets elevated to your upper management. Our experience started in June 2020. We’ve had multiple quality and construction issues through the building process. You guys need to perform your own quality inspection thought each construction phase frame, sheet rock and finishing. Absolutely crazy that you can install the wrong color counter tops twice. Sheet rock had multiple bows. Drywall finish issues thought the House especially where they replaced the counter tops. No one even bothered to paint the repairs, they just textured them. Sliding rear door wouldn’t close correctly. I mentioned it to the construction manager and they addressed it, but it’s not the customer responsibility to do someone’s else’s work and point things out. Not to mention I have a cooktop since October 30th that I can’t use because of damaged leaking gas on cooktop. It goes back to not performing self inspections. It’s seems to me that upper management is more worried about meeting a deadline and closing on a specific date than the quality of your product. ... More
