Overall buying experience was excellent, some issues in communicating from project build, like we were not called about initial walk thru before drywall was put up and getting the warranty information on home

The overall process was fabulous. As stated prior, the home construction industry has many challenges. The management of resources, manpower and supplies to deliver a new home in a timely fashion is paramount. The KHOV production team has done a great job staying on top of the issues and resolving quickly. The execution of the construction phase, being managed by Tom and Jeff has been excellent amongst the challenges. It's not an easy job, but their transparency and professionalism is a welcome sight.

Simply love my new home and look forward to many years here.

My lawn was 3/4 dead and it wasn’t fixed

I had a good experience and Devin was the best very understanding.

They do a very good job building the homes, they can do a better job in the master bathroom, I feel like it should stand out a lot better than the other bathrooms. Am still waiting on my garage door to come, it shouldn't take this long to get a door.

The house is overall nice. The neighborhood is so far nice and quiet, although we were told more families were here. The walls are paper thin, i mean you hear everything. If it's only 2 people in the house that's fine. It also sounds like a bear is on the side of the house when there is any wind or rain. The refrigerator is apartment sized. Walk in closet, walk in pantry, coffee bar, huge master bath shower and partially finished basement are my favorites.

Overall experience is great! The only thing that I would recommend is when you see your home buyer is older, it’s not their first go around with a home, so sending that checklist of “to do” items each month is a bit insulting..

With exception of the challenges facing the entire construction industry; it is clear, like everyone, delay on the home delivery/closing and turn around communications was frustrating. But we are extremely pleased with the end product, the home quality is excellent, and the customer service follow up in addressing the issues has been wonderful. Special thanks to Dave, the Sales Associate for his patience in dealing with our numerous calls/emails complains of the delay and his support in working us through the process to completion. Also to the Finance team; Tammy, Jessica, Marica for their timely feedback in making sure we closed on scheduled. I'm sure, they certainly don't miss my numerous emails/phone calls inquiring about the raising interest rates, and when can I lock-in...?lol. Finally, Ed and Dar, the construction Team; walk through/follow-up details, and explanations to ensure we're completely satisfactory with the home quality and installs. Overall, we are pleased of the KHOV home product and designs, more so why we selected them for this constriction journey of our dream HOME. ... More

I am pleased with the overall process.

The sales rep Nick and the construction manager Tom have been phenomenal to work with throughout. We did encounter a few issues and questions along the way and both always remained very professional and helpful and prompt in addressing our concerns.

All in all, we had a good experience purchasing our home. The sales staff was patient and took time to make sure we had all the information we needed. We were not expecting all the upgrade and add-on options, but felt we needed some to make the house more functional for us. The incentives they offered helped to keep the cost down. The design center experience was more then we expected. The base line finishes were not up to the standards we expected for this price point home so we spent more then we wanted to get higher quality finishes. Upgrades were very expensive by my standards and options were minimal within a given level of upgrade. Dealing with KHOV's financing group was very easy and they offered very good rates. The on-site warranty team was very responsive and took care of all our issues quickly. Penelope and Deborah could not have been more helpful during the construction phase and followed up in person on several occasions. I would do business with KHOV again. ... More

this house is very well done, there some small details that i would have different! but over all i give the experience a 98 percent out of 100! i have only been here 3 months , i will see how the future brings to us?! thanks. craig

As a whole, we were satisfied with the process. It seemed that if anything’s was asked for that didn’t fit in the box as is, it was way too much to discuss. Repair items that I mentioned were not only belittled but mostly unaddressed.

The overall process of building a home with Khov in Delaware was a overall smooth process. Where they fall short is their lack of flexibility with structural changes and design options. For the prices charged design options were very minimal. They didn't allow change orders. They didn't offer things like a walk-in pantry, free standing tub, bedroom and closet sizes are small, framing and insulation materials are outdated, blocking between wall studs barely used and cost of structural options were extremely inflated. Their sales people are friendly and approachable.

The builder hires people that don’t care about your home. They do not pay attention to plan details - placement of electrical outlets; deck door placed incorrectly; light switches reversed, etc. Trash left in walls, which we removed; profanity written on front door trim; damaged railings; no sanding of trim. They use standard/ basic systems for the cost of the home- example: well/ septic system - low water pressure; using sand as the base for landscaping. I could go on.

This is my first home and I must say I was excited about it until I moved in and started noticing the materials they used.. The material are not good quality. They used cheap materials and just paint it and make it look good. My front door is already falling apart and some of the locks are are broken already. One thing for sure I DO NOT trust KH anymore. I’m telling you now K. Hovnanian® Homes! will NOT get a referral from me not until I get pay for my Frist referral. I referred a friend and I was supposed to get a referral compensation but instead they decided to give it to her agent. First thing it wasn’t her agent that referred her to KH it was me so why would they give her my compensation to the agent? ... More

They are decent builders. You will not be getting the best workers, but just decent enough. You will encounter some issues with workmanship, and in some cases you will just be on your own with these issues.

Three months after moving into our new K Hov home in the Satterfield development in Felton DE, our experience has been a mixed bag. While the design of the house looks modern and attractive, big and small defects like the cracks in the concrete front porch and garage and the caulking around joints (windows, kitchen area, bathroom, etc.), the uneven finish that leaves gaps/unsealed holes around the undercabinet lighting and steps to the garage and crawlspace, the paint dust on the walls that stick to your skin when you brush against it, etc., are ugly, unacceptable, and jarring to see. While some small issues which we've reported were promptly acted on, a major gutter issue was explained as "installed per specifications" despite evidence of defects having been presented. The initial service issue was closed arbitrarily without us knowing it. When the issue was reported again, it is now largely unacted on, basically "ignored", assuming it will go away. We've also reported some health and hazard issues in their worksite that spill over to the residential sites (e.g., work starts before 7 am - earlier than the legal start time, with the heavy banging and rumbling of the earth moving machines early in the morning and constantly throughout the day; heavy dust storms that are aggravated by the speeding dump trucks carrying soil and gravel; thick dusts on the streets that become mud when it rains and can cause accidents to pedestrians; overnight parking of heavy machinery around the residences although areas near the worksite can be used - this causes a thick smell of gasoline to blow to the residences; littering around the houses being built and dumpsters' contents spilling to the curbs and streets at times, etc.) To be fair, the Sales Manager we bought the house from. although he had been reassigned to another K Hov community, reached out to discuss our issues and arranged for some mitigation measures (e.g., street cleaning, having the construction company tell its drivers not to speed, manage overnight parking of the heavy machines away from the residences). Although these are a good start to some respectful and responsible worksite management practices, K Hov should have a system in place where its ongoing construction work does not alienate homeowners, give rise to health and safety issues, and devalue its brand. ... Sales team and crew were responsive and helpful prior to closing. Closing process (even with pandemic restrictions) was quite smooth. However, one month after closing our backyard is still nothing but dirt...except after it rains when it becomes a swamp. Very unhappy with responsiveness of the developer and builder to complete the grading and sod on the property.

Love the house, but disappointed with the design where the wall is behind the basement entry door. I cannot fit or take big furniture items down the stairs because the wall behind the basement entry does not allow maneuvering. If I had known I could not fit big furniture ( couch) down the basement. I would have added the walkout to the back yard as another option. This is critical to mention to new buyers!

We appreciated how quickly they closed with us. However, the quality of the materials they used were poor. They had a pipe in the basement which had been broken and they failed to fix it even though they had written "broken pipe" on the pipe. Products they use are cheap and the paint has been an issue. They will not provide you with any paint sample or a touch up kit. There is no move in welcome package. The toilet seat broke only a few weeks after moving int so we had to fix that. They are very flimsy and slip around easily. The sales people requested good reviews which we found unprofessional. Things seem very unorganized. ... More

The process started out well but quickly declined in the areas of communication, integrity and quality. Very poor craftsmanship and supervisors are not managing and being held accountable for workers poor work.
