Our home buying experience started out OK in May 2021. Nice models to choose from, and home would be completed in 3 months from ground breaking. Our salesman was misleading and dishonest and at times downright disrespectful. Excavation started in August, we settled the last week in January. House sat for weeks at a time with little being done. Little attention to detail and virtually no quality control. I'm glad we hired a home inspector for pre-drywall inspection and final inspection. So many items were due to shoddy craftsmanship!! We had 4 project managers throughout construction, and communications deteriorated with the first 3 PMs. We were very disappointed with the construction process until our final PM ensured all of our punchlist items were taken care of. Since we purchased the house in April, we’ve had two broken windows and a broken door. Despite them claiming they were coming back right after settlement to fix it, they never showed up. We are now three months out and keep calling about these and they keep claiming they’re going to get to it and nothing ever happens.

I experience several major issues throughout the build process. From lengthy delays due to the pandemic, which I do not blame the builder for, to shoddy work, laborers who don't seem to care about their work or the end result, to improper insulation of exterior walls, to home buyer having to point out multiple issues that builder ignored, to delays in getting corrections made, etc. The entire experience was less that ideal, and now after having taken delivery 2 months ago, I am still dealing with issues that were not corrected during final walkthrough.

Get punch list completed before closing. I'm waiting 5 months.

It is clear that our house has been a low priority for KHov, and this entire process with KHov was been a horrible experience for us. We understand the current market environment, labor shortages, and supply chain issues, because we just went through buying a new home with NVHomes which was completed February 2021. It was a tough process but nothing like what we are experiencing with KHov. This process with KHov is so bad, that we don’t feel comfortable with the product that KHov delivered to us. Our close date has been pushed back repeatedly over the course of several months. Over the past few months, we have reached out repeatedly for updates, but only receive them on the days before closing is supposed to take place. We faced two massive disappointments throughout this process. First, our upstairs bathroom was constructed incorrectly (not according to the floor plan). No one caught this for weeks until closer to closing. Second, the most upsetting disappointment, was the walkthrough that took place on Monday, December 13. KHov intended to close on Friday, December 17. When we walked in, it was obvious that nobody had attended to the house in weeks. There were holes everywhere, unfinished bathrooms, broken windows, cracked flooring, unfinished dry wall, cabinets completely damaged, doors missing, and the house didn’t have insulation in the attic (all detailed in our inspection report which was 4 days after our walk through)! It was obvious that no one from KHov walked through the house or had a punch list. I went around the house and marked it with blue tape, which should have been someone else’s job. The fact that we are paying close full purchase price for this house and had to drive 7 hours round trip that day to see the house in that condition is inexcusable. After we refused to close, KHov pushed the closing another week, and again items were addressed but not completed. We had to push closing again to (12/30) again to (1/21) and then finally had to close on (1/31) because we couldn't extend the rate lock anymore. Once we moved in (3/29), we noticed there was no heat working on our 1st floor and there was a massive gap under our front door due to misalignment of install where cold air is coming through. We have called the emergency hotline and reached out to our Sales Rep and haven't heard back in 3 days to resolve this issue. Workmanship was poor and poorly supervised by supervisor. Had 14 issues that needed to be fixed a month later only two issues addressed 12 remain in limbo

In general, our experience has been awful. Settlement was delayed six times, and six weeks following settlement, items identified during orientation inspection have not been completed despite multiple promises to do so.

I would not recommend K.Hov. They make promises that aren't delivered and the quality of workmanship is lacking. We waited 16 months for a cookie cutter home that should have taken 4 months. The quality of work was beyond disappointing. Even after closing, there are many punch list items that have not been delivered.

This is the second home I've built new through a national builder. No builder is perfect and every new build will have their issues. But, what started with great promise, ended with multiple settlement (non-Covid) delays, poor construction, and even worse quality control. Every builder is struggling with labor and supply shortages, but this development suffered from poor project management and ZERO acknowledgement of shortcomings from any senior management at KHOV. They should be ashamed how they treat customers. If you're considering purchasing a home from this builder, run, don't walk.

We were expecting a quality built home from K. Hovnanian but got just the opposite. The concrete porch, driveway and sidewalks are poorly finished. Our upgraded LVT flooring has paint has numerous areas of paint splatter and there are paint runs on the floor molding. The caulking work looks like a 10 year old did it, some interior doors are not level or square causing them to start closing on their own after they are opened, and the stone work on the fireplace and front exterior is extremely sloppy and poorly constructed. Terrible quality of workmanship. My house has too many issues to list, cosmetic and structural.

Poor quality of home, really bad workmanship. So many issues, walk through was a joke.

Builder could not oversee the work of there sub contractors. Very poor workmanship and lots of wasted time and money fixing problems and damage to finished work. Builder management changed 6 times during building process and had no accountability

They rush you to settlement with open promises and never complete a task. They never show up for follow up appointments. There is no excuse for poor customer service. Totally under staffed but they keep starting new houses but never finish the others.

Overall terrible experience with the builder from start till the end. Poor quality, not worth at all the price of the house. Terrible quality of workmanship. K Hovnanian should be ashamed of their team and the way they deliver the house. We were missing, mirrors, vanities, wrong island color, cracks in the wall, missing bulbs, leak in the garage, 2 different color banisters, dents and chips of paint everywhere on our SETTLEMENT DAY. Absolutely, not acceptable from any builder!!! And the list goes on and on…

We had an extremely negative experience with KH including continual unexplained delays, poor quality of work (as even noted by the construction manager), poor communication or lack there of (including disingenuous representation of stating work was done (or would be) which was not), the inability to speak with a manager when initially requested, the delay of inspection and settlement due to not meeting work deadlines, and the disregard for the overall customer. We would not recommend KH to a future buyer. And still, after a more than a month in the property, with many outstanding issues, including serious ones, there has been no resolution to fix by KH. The only issue that has been fixed is a manufacturer's issue by GE (not KH). In conversations with neighbors, this seems to be the consistent experience. To paint our garage we had to hire a drywall repair person to fix the poor quality of work done by KH just to be able to paint. This development was not managed or constructed with the mission or commitment stated on your website. We would not recommend and in fact, would suggest other customers avoid KH. ... More
