I’ll do the best I can to make this short and to the point. The sales women and the mortgage lady were great, I can’t say enough about their efforts and communication, 5* for them! Now, when it comes to the construction manager his communication, follow through and and ease to work with, was subpar at best. Apparently, there’s no quality control on his end, which is crazy, if he doesn’t do it, who does? No one, I can tell you that. The final walkthrough was bad, horrible drywall and painting. Even after they spent a whole day in there making repairs and touch ups, I’m going to have to spend thousands to have a drywall company come in and make the proper repairs, before we paint. To add to the final construction, horrible trim work too, 45 the corners, when they should be coped, basically caulking everything to hide the amateur trim job. I knew when we walked the model, and I made comments about the trim, paint and drywall, I was told they had new contractors, since the model was built. If proper quality control was done, I doubt he even walked the house, some of the issues were so blatant, that it showed he didn’t care or even check on the progress. Now when it was time to set up our meet ups he was horrible to deal with too. I work swing shift and the wife started a new job and we asked him for just a little flexibility, there was absolutely none, it was in his terms and times and that was it. He said it was because he “wears many hats” and that he likes to be home round 12-1 to start working on paperwork, that just says he doesn’t control his job sites and it shows on the construction and final product. Even look at our back yard, concrete left in the yard, garbage everywhere, just looked horrible. Very disappointed in his performance. The build.is great. No problem with the builder or contractors used, and if that was all that was being rated I would rate them at least 4 stars if not 5. Which is why this company even gets 2 starts from me. What places it at 2 stars was going through their mortgage company. When I told them I had 20% down ready they gave me an interest quote that was .5% higher than when I had been ready to go with 10% down. Calling around this type of move is unheard of,and put me in a bad situation. They (khov) were not helpful at all at explaining why this was the case either. Thankfully after some research (that admittedly I should have done before) and right after closing I am refinancing. I only wish I could have closed this refinance before they sold the loan. This mortgage company they Have is a scam and Im very unhappy with them, and unfortunately it reflects on Khov as a whole. ... More

The sales team is like a used cars salesmen. Promising the sky and screwing you over. You walk in and fall in love with the model home and they tell you to put a down payment down without helping you price out items. The sales team keeps telling you that you can price out items during the design appointment but what they don't tell you is everything is an upgrade. To get the house even remotely updated, you got to spend over $60,000 in upgrades! It's too late when you find that out because you already put down a huge downpayment. I tried to price out everything with the sales team so I knew what I was getting into and I called out exactly what I wanted. The sales team ensured everything I asked for was included in the price. Now comes the shock, when you go into the design center you are told everything was basically priced out at base price like cheap kitchen cabinets and vinyl peel and stick flooring etc. I can go on and on. You're given a 1 year warranty on most work since it's a new house and things can go wrong which is understandable. I'm not mad at things going wrong because I've had plumbing issues, lock issues, and other minor things come up but they are NOT responsive. They can take weeks to get back to you, let alone send someone out to fix the issue. My sink wasn't working and they took about 2 weeks to send someone out. Customer service is terrible. They give you a date, they finish early. They give unrealistic closing date when the appraisals aren't complete then charge you by the day that you don't close. Very unhappy

Basis your info I kept my car outside and there was concrete on it and now you guys say I kept in a public place. This is truly unprofessional

Customer service was terrible!! Please beware of estimating closing dates and incomplete projects after moving in. They will string you alone for weeks and weeks with different closing dates. Not mention the small things that still have to completed after you move in!! We purchased a home with shutters on all the front windows as shown on the model and the brochure. Unfortunately after we have been living here for 2 months and still no shutters. So if you are waiting for your home to be completed please be aware of inaccurate timelines on building your home as well as an estimated closing date. We love our new home but dealing with K Hovnanian staffing was one of our worst experiences. ... More

Not what I expected. House have lot of issues and the thing that they say it’s everything is normal. House floors and basement where dirty. Chip quartz’s at island. Baseboards dirty and not painted well. Kitchen doble oven was not installed correctly. Still waiting on the windows shutters haven’t being install and we have a month since we move in. 2 weeks to get our mailbox install. Not happy

The home that was built is beautiful and far exceeded our expectations. However, the process was overshadowed by the poor management in the sales office. The staff is not communicative about appropriate next steps in the building and closing process. The staff was not communicative to outside lenders and real estate professionals. The staff was downright rude in many circumstances and if my family had not invested so much time and money in the process, we would have walked away from the building process completely.

Never buy a home from Khov ever again! Worst built quality… even small contractors can build better homes than them.

Very bad experience not recommended anyone

We moved in and reported the various issues we saw. They've been out several times to "fix" the issues. The "extras" we paid for are complete crap (were never informed the paint wasn't washable, lighting fixtures are cheap plastic). Would not recommend this builder at all. Talking to others in the neighborhood, who have had similar experiences. Some are going on 6+ months of waiting for repairs to be done (again).

I did not enjoy the overall process of buying my home. I would not recommend K.Hovnaian homes to anyone.
