Smooth process, but quality of work could definitely be improved

Great staff from the sales office to the building crew. I would never finance through Khov ever again. Terrible experience with that side of the business! Submitted paperwork several times; always had to resubmit additional paperwork; staff doesn’t return calls or emails. Was a real pain to work through the financial portion of this transaction. Not worth it to use their financing-and our loan was sold to Chase Bank the day after we closed.

The experience overall was good. However we did run into several delays, and communication could’ve been a little better.

Office personnel was hard to get a hold of and most of the information given to us was incorrect. Design studio staff and construction manager were helpful throughout our experience.

basement was leaking on the second day after fixing i see water in the an other place in basement, nobody check the cut insulation was repaired with adhesive tape, not replaced, in the result and I have a house for which I paid the cake for a completely new one, but the insulation in the basement is glued with adhesive tape The floor creaks in some parts, this means that in some places the floor is normal, and in some it is not properly strengthened The stump has not been removed at the site with a height of 20 inches, and many others I will ask bloggers (with more than 1 million subscribers) describing the construction of the construction of houses to review. The current superintendent working for this company in this area is excellent. The title company and process for selling the home was distant and unwelcoming (not due to shelter in place). It was from an east coast company and took an unprecedented length of time to receive information from prior to closing.

Most of the people I had to deal with were fine. The problems are really difficult for me to wrap my head around because it’s a brand new home. I have one working toilet that still has problems. The front bedroom is very cold. The long clothes rack in my walk in closet fell off the wall. The list is actually longer. I wanted so much to have this be a happy experience. I am 76 and partially disabled and very disappointed.

Lots of cracks, poor paint quality, staining and ittle attention to detail.

Dissapointed in the lack of knowledge of our sales representative. Sales representative was disrespectful, demeaning and hard to work with.

When my wife and I had the final walk through we enjoyed seeing our new home after being in it I have noticed corners that were cut and other issues. Examples chips in the flooring, wavy walls and ceilings, bowed doors and a raised floor drain. I put a call in one day about the furnace exhaust and I had to make an issue with the builder in order to get it corrected. I guess I will keep on KHOV and hopefully things will work out.

This builder is good with roofing, basements and insulation however fall short on interior work. My microwave has a dent in my stove has scratches in it and the paint should have been white semi gloss.

We are having many issues with the house and no clear direction from developer/builder how these will be resolved.. Just a painful situation for such a big investment

Only good thing is the sales person Vicky is helpful, responsive and “New” construction manager Greg who made it better. It was a tough journey but by gods grace there are changes in the team and we finally moved in after a long long delay and mistakes in construction. If it wasn’t for new team I would have given a single star

I was happy they were able to stick with the timeline however it was just an average experience. The foreman for KH was good but the paint and clean up was subpar.

Our salesperson Gabbi was wonderful and responsive to our needs. Our GC was not as responsive and had excuse after excuse for the delays. Our friends went with a different builder and they broke ground in April and moved in a week before we did, we broke ground in February and closed on September 24 but purchased in November of 2020. We chose to have you paint our interior but the paint is very prone to smudges and stains, maybe give out other paint options.

As a first time homebuyer, the sales co-ordinator kept us in dark the whole time. After umpteen calls and emails I got hold of the construction manager who was very kind and helpful and opened up the communication channel which was really great and got the house completed on time. Design team had no clue and did not help us make the decision . The upgrades quality is very poor and it’s actually worse than the standard ones.

We contracted to complete a single-family house in December 2020. Estimated completion date was July 1, 2021. We were told that houses closed at that time hit their estimated date. By March, we were told the date would be in August. The basement was not poured until April. Right after we sold our existing house in May, the date changed to September 15. OK, 2.5 months late, we can live with that. We were then scheduled for a pre drywall inspection in early July. No communication when that date was missed. Finally, by mid-August when our emails to our sales rep and the construction manager went unanswered, we reached out to the Chicago market VP to find out what was going on. We then found out that our sales rep had left the company and our construction manager was changed but no one informed us. We completed our pre drywall inspection in early September and were told that our house would be completed before the end of October. Our final walkthrough and closing were actually scheduled for the end of October (Khov's fiscal year end is 10/31). However, two weeks before the inspection, we were notified that the dates would have to be moved to mid-November, Cabinetry was damaged, and they would not be able to complete until then. We had to reschedule all of our utilities and post-closing contractors (i.e painters, window treatment installers, etc.) for a second time. So, after 4.5 months of delays and lack of communication about when we would be able to move in, we finally had our new home and were no longer commuting from our temporary housing at a vacation home 4 hours away. The build.is great. No problem with the builder or contractors used, and if that was all that was being rated I would rate them at least 4 stars if not 5. Which is why this company even gets 2 starts from me. What places it at 2 stars was going through their mortgage company. When I told them I had 20% down ready they gave me an interest quote that was .5% higher than when I had been ready to go with 10% down. Calling around this type of move is unheard of,and put me in a bad situation. They (khov) were not helpful at all at explaining why this was the case either. Thankfully after some research (that admittedly I should have done before) and right after closing I am refinancing. I only wish I could have closed this refinance before they sold the loan. This mortgage company they Have is a scam and Im very unhappy with them, and unfortunately it reflects on Khov as a whole. ... More

Waited for more than a year to get the home complete after signing the contract.

My entire Home should have all Bronze Light Fixtures and Hardware, instead it has Silver Light Fixtures and Bronze Hardware, That's not what I order for my Home.. everything I ordered was Bronze, What A Joke!

The sales team is like a used cars salesmen. Promising the sky and screwing you over. You walk in and fall in love with the model home and they tell you to put a down payment down without helping you price out items. The sales team keeps telling you that you can price out items during the design appointment but what they don't tell you is everything is an upgrade. To get the house even remotely updated, you got to spend over $60,000 in upgrades! It's too late when you find that out because you already put down a huge downpayment. I tried to price out everything with the sales team so I knew what I was getting into and I called out exactly what I wanted. The sales team ensured everything I asked for was included in the price. Now comes the shock, when you go into the design center you are told everything was basically priced out at base price like cheap kitchen cabinets and vinyl peel and stick flooring etc. I can go on and on. You're given a 1 year warranty on most work since it's a new house and things can go wrong which is understandable. I'm not mad at things going wrong because I've had plumbing issues, lock issues, and other minor things come up but they are NOT responsive. They can take weeks to get back to you, let alone send someone out to fix the issue. My sink wasn't working and they took about 2 weeks to send someone out. Can you imagine not having a working sink for that long? ... More

Customer service is terrible. They give you a date, they finish early. They give unrealistic closing date when the appraisals aren't complete then charge you by the day that you don't close. Very unhappy

I’ll do the best I can to make this short and to the point. The sales women and the mortgage lady were great, I can’t say enough about their efforts and communication, 5* for them! Now, when it comes to the construction manager his communication, follow through and and ease to work with, was subpar at best. Apparently, there’s no quality control on his end, which is crazy, if he doesn’t do it, who does? No one, I can tell you that. The final walkthrough was bad, horrible drywall and painting. Even after they spent a whole day in there making repairs and touch ups, I’m going to have to spend thousands to have a drywall company come in and make the proper repairs, before we paint. To add to the final construction, horrible trim work too, 45 the corners, when they should be coped, basically caulking everything to hide the amateur trim job. I knew when we walked the model, and I made comments about the trim, paint and drywall, I was told they had new contractors, since the model was built. If proper quality control was done, I doubt he even walked the house, some of the issues were so blatant, that it showed he didn’t care or even check on the progress. Now when it was time to set up our meet ups he was horrible to deal with too. I work swing shift and the wife started a new job and we asked him for just a little flexibility, there was absolutely none, it was in his terms and times and that was it. He said it was because he “wears many hats” and that he likes to be home round 12-1 to start working on paperwork, that just says he doesn’t control his job sites and it shows on the construction and final product. Even look at our back yard, concrete left in the yard, garbage everywhere, just looked horrible. Very disappointed in his performance. I was disappointed. While I'm happy to be in a new home. The service and responsiveness was awful. I think I have gotten better service at bestbuy when looking for a DVD player. I was pretty much called as liar when I brought up issues with the build and workmanship was not the best. I found doors barely hanging on by a screw because hinges were loose. Garage door not centered. Stairway to basement butchered up. And the response to these issues were not addressed in a satisfactory manner. Especially since it's a purchase of 250k!... like I mentioned, I get better service at a store buying a $50 appliance ... More
