An Easy home building experience

I believe you need to walk your home 1-2 times per week to check options selected, quality and workmanship. You need to notify your builder weekly on what concerns you have and follow up weekly that they are addressed. If this happens you will get a home that looks good!

Which builder paid more attention to co. that poured foundation,which resulted in a back wall in our home be off.It left floor joist and floor un level and a unhappy buyer.,when it came to repairs after accepting the house ,Adam was johnny on the spot,with repairs.

The entire process start to finish was made easy by K Hov. They worked with us each step of the way and kept their promises on delivery date. They were even able to get us in 2 weeks ahead of schedule to accommodate our request after selling our house and having to be out earlier than expected. We love our new home and couldn't be happier. Bob, Kayla and Monica were great to work with and very responsive to all our questions and requests.

Start to finish we knew where we were in the process. The entire team worked together and were responsive to our questions. Love the quality of our home!

It was not understood about the timeframe involved in picking your selections. When we thought we had 3 days to cancel the entire purchase - it was 3 days to make any changes to the initial construction floor plan. We wanted to make further changes after the 3 days and were not allowed. Didn't make any sense since the plans are basically the same and no monies were spent. The appointment from the initial construction choices to the appointment to pick your selections within the house should NOT be far off. This will allow you to know the Total amount that you are really spending - up front. Our basement sump pump broke during construction and the basement flooded causing major damage to the concrete finish and further damage was caused by the construction crew using acid wash trying to fix it. It has been a big struggle to get resolved - still waiting. Our home looks beautiful, our basement looks 40 years old and looks like a dungeon. ... More

Happy with the whole process. Sales agent was not pushy and answered all our questions. Our project manager communicated weekly on progress of build; on what was done for the week and what would be done in the coming week.

All the project managers working my development did a very good job responding to questions and concerns. Didn’t have one problem at all

Brandon and Chris have been great. I knew I wanted the house house they helped make it happen. The few small things that have come up they have been responsive too. I'm please to have built with KHov, and as a Realtor will continue to send my clients that way.

This process started out great. It was quick and painless. As we got into the build things started to go wrong time after time. Things such as our basement flooding 2 separate times due to errors made by the contractors. For us to then move in and still have a thick layer of mud/dust from the mud all over our basement. We had to fight to have the concrete replaced for our driveway because it was so rippled it would have been destroyed in a few short years. We had cracks on our step for our porch, which were still not fixed properly. We reached out to our building manager for a few simple things once the home closed, and have yet to have these items corrected. Our furnace wouldn’t turn on the first cold day of the season and we called the emergency line for them to tell us we had to wait multiple days for the heating company to come out and they’d call to have it scheduled, but when we called the company to follow up because we hadn’t heard from them 24 hrs later they said they heard nothing from KHovnanian to schedule them to come out. This process started great and ended with a bad taste in our mouth. Although we love our home, the process to get to here was more stressful then we expected. The many errors that occurred throughout the process were careless errors that could have been prevented with more attention to detail. Would we recommend your build to someone else? I wouldn’t say we wouldn’t because the home is much nicer then most local builders, but we will be sure to explain our struggles throughout this process. ... More

Communication with us was great each step of the way. Was not originally planning to build new but very glad we did. Would recommend Khov to friends and family.

The framers were fantastic. Most of the contractors are garbage. When we moved into our home we found we had a water pressure issue after new lawn install builder blames city city blames builder still no fix. Many small drywall issues never fixed. And still missing light fixtures in the home a month after closing.

Wonderful experience all the way around. We love our home . Better than we envisioned and hoped for. And the process was full of great communication from start till this very day. Highly highly recommend

Our experience with Khov went very smooth from the beginning. From our great customer experience with the knowledable Melissa who helped us choose the best house options for us, the design center appointment (we were able to mix and match whatever options we wanted, the basic options are basic but still nice enough where you can deal with it temporarily until your ready to upgrade it on your own time), to our amazing building manager Steve who kept us informed and walked us through the whole process. There were a few minor bumps in the road for example the carpet installation wasn't the best (few installed corners look rough not smooth and you can tell by the stairs where they cut a piece of carpet and tried to blend it in with the rest)shutters are still on back order (we were informed of this from the beginning due to COVID and supply shortages) and missed appointments with repairs afterwards to the siding (We were told siding repairs were going to be done in a few occasions and no one ever showed). Thankfully Dominic our building was on top of it all and smoothed things over. Overall communication was excellent. and we LOVE our new home! I would recommend anyone to build with Khov anytime. ... Review every detail before signing. We thought we were getting 2 basement windows. Had 1 standard and 1 egress. Removed egress before submitting since we are not putting bedroom in basement and thought we were getting at least 2 standards. Upon receiving blueprint, only 1 window and had to call sales to ask where the basement windows were located on blueprints. Sales said only 1 and we could not add any further windows as it was past 5 days. Model shows master shower in one location, when receiving blue print, the shower was behind the door to enter the bathroom and the doors swing into each other and sales/cad would not change. They said these were final blueprints although they were the first and only set of blueprints we received and they would not correct them. These items were not our doing but we were stuck. This was a disappointment not getting what we wanted and what we assumed we were getting. Upgraded to maple cabinets, however, cabinets installed are particle board and laminate covering maple. All cabinets need replaced as they are chipped, broken and peeling before we moved in; very cheap quality. The carpenters used giant oversized nails around all door trim, looks terrible as even with fill/paint can see giant holes. All corners of baseboards are jagged not cut correctly. They tried to caulk them and made it worst. Very poor quality of entire home. Paid for tv pre-wire and requested to contractor and design center that it be placed on right of fireplace and it was installed incorrectly on the left and contractor did not communicate to tech that we paid for electronic box in basement; we waited about 3 weeks after move in to have it installed. Per blueprint, outlet in entryway, but is missing. Punch list was not done when we moved in and still waiting a month later. Damaged materials were used as baseboards, door frames, porch materials with gouges and construction attempted to patch them instead of replacing with undamaged. small things are normal, but the kitchen cabinets are a huge issue, did not get what we paid for and most need replaced. Design center needs to inform customers they are not getting solid wood cabinets even if you upgrade. Only good thing is the sales lady is kind and patient, construction manager came over to fix handrailing and screw somethings in after we moved in, and warranty department responded quickly. People are nice but quality and communication not so great. ... More

Builder not very flexible with ideas outside of their cookie-cutter plans.

This experience was awesome and much better than my last home building experience with another company. There are only a couple things that I would change, but overall, very pleased..l
