While my overall purchase experience was good, I think that K.Hovnanian drops the ball on their communication with their buyers. There were a few things that we were very disappointed with and it seems that upper management just kind of passed it on to their front line reps (the sales office) Although there was nothing that they could do personally (even I knew that) they tried their hardest to make it right. Example One - we were initially told that putting our earnest money in held the price of the home. Turns out it did not but the sales person that assisted us (not our sales person because she was out of the office) took zero responsibility for what she had told us and we were given zero consideration to the fact that this was done to us (and now the home was $16000 more) Instead I got the line that "My management said there was nothing we could do about that." That's fine, but at least own up to your error. Example two, We were delayed by 3 months. Our initial date in Feb, then March, then April. Causing me to go beyond my lease and pay a premium on my rent because I was month to month. When I asked for some type of compensations, the response was No our company does not do that. The only apology came from our salesperson. Also the fact that all of their options were as packages vs "A la Carte" really made me sad. While it maybe every day that you guys are selling the homes, its a monumental purchase for first time homebuyers. I think that you guys should keep that in mind when doing design meetings, frame walks and move-ins ... More

Very responsive and took care of any/all issues that came during and after the purchase.

The purchasing process and design process was awesome. Debbie was fantastic and super helpful throughout the entire process. We’ve had issues after moving in, and the responsiveness hasn’t been to our expectations. The issues have yet to be resolved.

The sales rep was very attentive and timely in both responses and updates; very diligent, reliable, accommodating, and efficient. She helped make the home-buying process and experience easy and enjoyable. Additionally, she helped smooth over some bumps in the road. The building team did a good job overall, despite some moments of untimely responses. Team members were very courteous, and their follow-up repairs (per inspection reports) were timely and clean.

Had the pleasure of working with Michael, who sold us the home. It was our first home purchase so it was a little nerve wracking but he made sure to explain everything to us to make sure all our concerns were addressed.

Ours sales agent was a delight to work with. She was very helpful and responsive. We had to make a relocation and find a home quickly and she was instrumental in accomplishing our deadline.

Appreciate the communications. We were called every week as promised. We were a little disappointed that some of the options we wanted or were told were available ended up not being available.

Living 4 hours away while building was made so much easier when dealing with Josh in Sales and Dave, the construction manager. I received weekly photos and updates. I also appreciated Logan’s attention to concerns. The only issues have been with certain materials - example, the kitchen sink is cheap and very shallow (I do however like the Moen fawcetts.). The garage door is also cheaply made, it is very noisy, but it looks good. Basically, I give construction a very high rating, but not so much on basic materials. The selection of appliances was also lacking - they’re just ok. Overall it was an awesome experience and the people at KHOV made it that way. ... More

Excellent service with a smile.

The closing was delayed by 2 months due to sewer issues. They did miss the garage door opener that was to be installed and now I have an ugly handle on my door. The biggest surprise to me was there was no thought for a hub for cable and internet. It's 2021? What the heck? Now we get to run ugly cables outside walls and drill holes in our brand new home. Not very thoughtful on the builders part. The best part of the process was working with the staff from Mike my sales man and my weekly calls from my superintendent Alan and my walk thru with Lori. Such great people. Had it not been for the late closing, the garage door opener and even more of a bother the fact they did not consider internet function in new construction I would have given them a Great! ... More

The sales agent does not know his product and does not stay in touch with his clients through the build process. The builder was responsive, however would make excuses as to why issues weren't taken care of. We are still dealing with an issue that was supposedly fixed after our walk through. It was a punch list item for the builder to resolve prior to closing and a month and a half later we are still dealing with the issue through the warranty department.

Buying a home can be stressful. There's so many moving parts. I worked with a great team of people at every level. However, a standout was James D., my contractor. He was amazing. He communicated with me consistently and answered ALL my questions. I didn't feel like I was bothering him. He wanted to make sure everything was to my liking and standards. He even came back to check on everything AFTER we moved in. That's great service. We love our home!

Having worked with other builders around the valley I would say K Hovnanian far surpassed the rest. They were extremely professional. I would buy from them again.

When it came time to select our new home, we looked at many options before falling in love with the KHov design for the model we selected. It was really a perfect fit for our needs and we really enjoy the house now that we are in it. The purchasing experience was great, and Victoria was simply awesome and extremely responsive. We used KHov Mortgage due to the incentives offered. Our main contact was very helpful, but the work behind the scenes was very opaque with some mistakes and it was not a good experience. Our construction manager was a pleasure to work with, keeping us well-informed throughout the process and taking the time to send periodic progress pictures, which we greatly appreciated. We completely understood the pandemic-induced construction delays that pushed our move-in date by months. Given all this, it was a fairly good buying experience, despite COVID, but the part that matters most is the quality of the house you actually move into. This is my third new construction purchase, so I expect a decent number of punch list items. Past builders addressed most reported items within a few days and I expected the same. What we encountered was a host of quality issues that went beyond the cosmetic. Service requests raised with KHov sat for more than three weeks before anyone even discussed them with us because their service department is overwhelmed. The double whammy of peak demand in a hot home market and a rekindled economy that has put the construction labor force in tight supply has made it really tough for builders. It seems like many of the trades are over-scheduled right now, more inexperienced people are holding jobs, and materials are hard to procure in a reasonable timeframe. Given this, our somewhat disappointing service experience may not be so much a reflection on KHov solely and could well apply to most builders in our area and perhaps beyond. The construction manager is too rude. Every question or issue that you have, a simple answer from him will be "it is within the spec, so we are not going to touch it again". The quality of the home and finish is too bad all the way from dry wall, driveways, brick and stone work, concrete work, caulking, hardwood, etc. They left some open sharp nails on the dry wall.

I've always wanted a K. Hovanian Home. VERY happy to own one.

The sales team is like a used cars salesmen. Promising the sky and screwing you over. You walk in and fall in love with the model home and they tell you to put a down payment down without helping you price out items. The sales team keeps telling you that you can price out items during the design appointment but what they don't tell you is everything is an upgrade. To get the house even remotely updated, you got to spend over $60,000 in upgrades! It's too late when you find that out because you already put down a huge downpayment. I tried to price out everything with the sales team so I knew what I was getting into and I called out exactly what I wanted. The sales team ensured everything I asked for was included in the price. Now comes the shock, when you go into the design center you are told everything was basically priced out at base price like cheap kitchen cabinets and vinyl peel and stick flooring etc. I can go on and on. You're given a 1 year warranty on most work since it's a new house and things can go wrong which is understandable. I'm not mad at things going wrong because I've had plumbing issues, lock issues, and other minor things come up but they are NOT responsive. They can take weeks to get back to you, let alone send someone out to fix the issue. My sink wasn't working and they took about 2 weeks to send someone out. Can you imagine not having a working sink for that long? ... More

All the the people that represent KHov were great to deal with from our sales person Leah, to Kelli in the design center through Steve and Jacob our construction managers. Updates were provided as promised and easily understood. Steve was awesome to deal with! Rough carpentry was actually a little better than we expected but we do have some concerns based upon what friends and neighbors told us of problems they experienced a year or two down the road. Time will tell what if any issues we experience. Finish carpentry was nothing spectacular and we feel could have been done better. Paint job was ok but what we didn’t understand was when they said the walls get 2 coats of paint we didn’t realize the 1st coat was actually what they considered the primer coat. Warranty has been very responsive to the few issues we have had to date and easy to deal with. The steps leading up to the gold key orientation and closing were very disappointing in the presentation of how the house was cleaned and prepared. We were not happy with the cleaning and the cleaning contractors that were used were not good. Anyone purchasing a house should be prepared to spend a good day or 2 cleaning. There was no sparkle! We love the house but for what a family pays for one of these homes the new owners should expect and receive a home that shines from bottom to top. ... More
