A K. Hovnanian home is worth looking into.

We identified several issues to the builder, they worked on it but it did not present the quality of work we expected, so we had to keep calling the builder to keep re-fixing again and again. We still have several open tickets, things are getting fixed slowly, but what a hassle. In general this is a good builder and they use quality materials (not the best, but still good). I you are paying top dollar for a house and expect detail oriented quality, find another builder.

The process was pretty smooth throughout. The builders themselves did a wonderful job. The home is absolutely gorgeous and I love it. The liaison/realtor was excellent. She did a fantastic job throughout the entire process. She was incredible with communication and keeping us up to date. Any company should be proud to have her. Now the issue is there was a grading issue that the company had with the city, and the VP of construction failed to inform his team of. The builders and everyone else on the typical level you would meet with had no idea of the issue, and they all said we could build a fence. The evening before our closing date we got a call that informed us we could not move in due to the city holding the occupancy permits due to said issue above. The team had no idea and very quickly went to work on finding out what was wrong. Finally after two days of the VP supposed to give me a call to inform me of the issues, he stated he knew of the issue and that we could not build a fence. He also blatantly admitted they gambled with the revised plans being accepted in time for us to close instead of informing the customers that there would be an issue at all. Very poor communication from upper management and even to their own teams. The accounting and legal team didn't know we weren't closing on that until I reached out to them to inform them as they were waiting for us to show up for closing. Finally agreeing to the cities wishes of installing drain piping we were able to close two months late. This may have been a one time thing. basement was leaking on the second day after fixing i see water in the an other place in basement, nobody check the cut insulation was repaired with adhesive tape, not replaced, in the result and I have a house for which I paid the cake for a completely new one, but the insulation in the basement is glued with adhesive tape The floor creaks in some parts, this means that in some places the floor is normal, and in some it is not properly strengthened The stump has not been removed at the site with a height of 20 inches, and many others I will ask bloggers (with more than 1 million subscribers) describing the construction of the construction of houses to review. This was my first new build so I'm not sure what the norm is. With that said, I wasn't blown away with my experience. I'm happy with my home and I was pleased with the end result but it took a lot of back and forth to get it there. The most impressive part of the experience was after I closed. I had an emergency situation and Jay was there for me. That meant a lot. The only real negative was the preliminary final walk. I think we all learned from that experience. As the title stated, there's always room for improvement.

The current superintendent working for this company in this area is excellent. The title company and process for selling the home was distant and unwelcoming (not due to shelter in place). It was from an east coast company and took an unprecedented length of time to receive information from prior to closing.

Poor exterior paint, poor flooring Quality.

The sales process was strong however the overall craftsmanship is below average especially when paying premium amounts for upgrades and features. Attention to detail was below average as well. The completion was nearly one month behind schedule. The construction communication and past follow-up responsiveness to issues has been strong.

Overall, the home has turned out to be about what we expected. There were several frustrations in the home building process; most notably, the kitchen we were promised turned out to be the result of an incorrect drawing, making it impossible to build as shown. This caused a 2-week setback and a major reworking of the kitchen that resulted in other issues. We now have a dysfunctional dishwasher that is drilled to the floor instead of on legs, which means that in order to repair it, we will inevitably need to have our kitchen floors torn up in the coming weeks. Our lawn has been described by our service manager as “in really bad shape” and stated that he is getting a bid to have the entire yard “reworked.” As with any new home, ours has its share of problems. The aforementioned, grouting issues, chipped sinks, painting eyesores, etc. Overall, it is a beautiful home that looks as we had hoped cosmetically. Hoping to get these larger issues resolved efficiently, and the service manager has been very helpful to that end so far. I understand that not all KHov customers can say the same about their service manager, so I count ourselves lucky for that. ... More

Monarch floor plan

This was out first time owning a home that we had built from the ground up. We picked our various colors, etc. Knowing that this house was to mean a lot to us really made a difference. Now that we are in the house, we love it! Selecting, dealing and negotiating was a big impact on us. The sales individual was wonderful, very kind, generous, customer oriented and was very knowledgeable. Once those wishes were submitted and everything else falls to someone at a desk, the journey was not so pleasant. To draw the customer in was great, its the other individuals who need to work on their people skills, throughout its process. To include understanding, knowledgeable of procedures and just down right being pleasant instead of reacting as if it is their next paycheck. We hung in there, and purchased the home we are pleased, however, we wonder if others went through what we went through. ... More

Overall great company for building modern homes, however dissatisfied with the inability to make slight changes to the floor plan, and charging for the 2nd outside garage light was petty. Poor choices on countertops and flooring. Items that should be part of standard are added as upgrades such as normal size toilets, etc. The paint and cleaning were very poor. The house was delayed by a month due to incorrect plans submitted to the city, with no sense of urgency or any offerings of compensation (I paid hotel room an extra month). Other than apologies and it’s only an estimate on delivery, no efforts were done to bring it closer to the due dates. I was surprised at the issues we ran into. Especially the finishes. Painting is really poor. We also had problems with plumbing and lighting. there is a switch in the loft that does not make sense and appears to be a mistake, but it will not be corrected. I continue to find issues.

- The quality of the workmanship and materials used could have been better. - The house is a little overpriced priced for its locations and materials used in the home. - The walls are not well insulated for noise. - The design and layout of the home could be more modern to appeal to younger families. - Responsiveness to reported issues generally has been good.

Pricey, pushy sales people, but great overall product in the end.

Been waiting for repairs since January. Such a slow process. I wish I was allowed a home inspection prior to closing and repairs done before I closed. I am still waiting to talk to a manager from sales since end of Nov. 2024 I asked 6 people to have one reach out to me. The homes are nice and the financing terms are attractive but when something is wrong its like you are just a pain and no longer exist.

I am pleased with my condo but struggling getting used to that kind of living. My sales person was not in the right job but the fiance people were great and the warranty guy is very helpful. I would only caution to asking detailed questions for complete understanding of expectations. Finishes in condo are standard.

Frustrating small details we didn’t see: Kitchen cabinets not screwed correctly, missing gaps in sealing seams by staircase and bathroom doors, and the door knobs are falling off the upstairs doors. The design and construction are outstanding. Excellent safety features and beautiful small details.

The team was helpful during the early stages, and communication was generally prompt. However, there were some concerns regarding the finish and detailing in certain areas, particularly in the bathrooms. The quality of work and the bathroom floor plans and options did not meet my expectations, with some of the detailing appearing inaccurate or incomplete. Additionally, even though we signed the agreement knowing the plan and options, the paid amount does not seem to match the options provided. After adding $100K in upgrades, the house still doesn’t reflect the luxury look we were aiming for. Cabinets in bathrooms, kitchen are not a good quality materials used. garage doors are also not a great quality. I believe improvements could be made in quality control, attention to detail, and ensuring that the final result matches the investment. I hope these issues can be addressed for future projects, as the team has the potential to deliver a more satisfying experience.” Few options like shower area lights in bathrooms should not be an option to be chosen by the buyer! Furthermore, even after paying millions for the home, we are left with additional work to complete, such as painting in the garage and addressing the landscaping. The front trees, for example, are quite spiky and not what we envisioned. Additionally, we opted for a finished basement, but only half of the area was completed. These issues have added to our disappointment and suggest that more attention to detail and customer satisfaction is needed. I hope this feedback will help for future projects. ... More

Many issues with this new home. Electrical issues, craftmanship, you can tell the home build is rushed and no pride is taken by the people completing these homes. Baseboards not pained completly , tile on the floor cut to short and filled with grout. Stucco on house cracked. Perimeter fence very poor quality, exposed nails all over, split boards or boards not even nailed down in places.

Overall, prior to purchasing my home - working with the builder was a good experience. However, it wasn't until I moved in that I found miscellaneous items that should have been fixed prior to me seeing the home. For example, I have spots of white paint on my gray walls - in several different places in my home. Because they are small and towards the celing areas, I didnt notice it during my walk through, Once I moved in - I reported it and was told paint is not under warranty. I am asking for mistakes made to be corrected and I was told no. I encourage the buyers to go through the home with a flash light because there was a lot of sloppiness in the work performed. If you dont catch it prior to closing, it will be a challenge to have it corrected. ... More

Alan our builder has been very responsive to any issues. Unfortunately when we moved in, our master shower had to be redone due creaking noises. Other than that, our door handles have fell out, most of the material used is builder grade so it’s cheap. The workers for Alan don’t pay attention to detail and missed many painting spots in our home, that we had to have touched up. The seller of our home was terrible, would put tasks on other people, unresponsive, and definitely in it for the money only. Nice home now that we have added our own custom finishes and hardware. Good starter home, wouldn’t live here for longer than 5 years due to how close the homes are to neighbors. ... More
