While there are certainly many things to like about the house, location, and customer sales representative there also were too many problems along the way. Many delays, a lot of misinformation, failure to follow agreements without arguments, the worst finish grading job I've ever seen in my life, mediocre job of laying sod, mediocre finish carpentry work, absolutely stupid placement of the dining room light fixture, acute lack of kitchen & bathroom storage space. The sales professional Jay was terrible, Lied to us multiple times, Very Upsetting process starting out. It would be a more honest way of doing business with people to allow them to look at your showroom before making them put up a deposit. Brian was easy to deal with, good experience there. However the builder did leave us with several large dead trees in our yard that are tagged orange to be removed. I expect someone to come remove these tree's as its the right thing to do.

I see so many things are ignored during the build process. It means there was not attention during construction process.

When it came time to select our new home, we looked at many options before falling in love with the KHov design for the model we selected. It was really a perfect fit for our needs and we really enjoy the house now that we are in it. The purchasing experience was great, and Victoria was simply awesome and extremely responsive. We used KHov Mortgage due to the incentives offered. Our main contact was very helpful, but the work behind the scenes was very opaque with some mistakes and it was not a good experience. Our construction manager was a pleasure to work with, keeping us well-informed throughout the process and taking the time to send periodic progress pictures, which we greatly appreciated. We completely understood the pandemic-induced construction delays that pushed our move-in date by months. Given all this, it was a fairly good buying experience, despite COVID, but the part that matters most is the quality of the house you actually move into. This is my third new construction purchase, so I expect a decent number of punch list items. Past builders addressed most reported items within a few days and I expected the same. What we encountered was a host of quality issues that went beyond the cosmetic. Service requests raised with KHov sat for more than three weeks before anyone even discussed them with us because their service department is overwhelmed. The double whammy of peak demand in a hot home market and a rekindled economy that has put the construction labor force in tight supply has made it really tough for builders. It seems like many of the trades are over-scheduled right now, more inexperienced people are holding jobs, and materials are hard to procure in a reasonable timeframe. Given this, our somewhat disappointing service experience may not be so much a reflection on KHov solely and could well apply to most builders in our area and perhaps beyond. Great customer service but I feel like more attention needs to be put towards quality checks of completed work. I often had to point out things to be corrected that I felt the construction supervisor should have identified and corrected even before I had to mention it.

Overall, it was not a bad experience at all, but it was not one great either. I understand you have alot of homes to build and alot of warranties to cover, but the overall customer service could be improved on I think. There were many times during the building phases and now in our warranty phase where customer service was lacking, or felt rushed like put a band aid over it and move onto the next house that has issues or questions. Please slow down and explain everything to homeowners as they move into a house. Its a major purchase in life.

The Company wasn't very helpful or understanding of pandemic issues complicating home buying process. Sellers was not helpful or patient with VA process. This was not a very easy process.Causing us (The Buyers) more expenses in living and home cost.

Closing was too much of a rush. My construction manager was excellent

Overall, the experience was fair - we were faced with a few challenges along the way, which we felt could have been handled with a bit more care and empathy, but understand that timing is a crucial aspect for transactions like this. After closing, responsiveness to questions and issues seem to have stalled, with a handful of open items never followed up on despite multiple attempts to connect. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming, but there is a breakdown in communication between sales, construction, design, and the homeowners which makes getting answers and information difficult at times. ... There was a lack of professionalism when dealing with closing and because of this I would not recommend khov.

There was some perks such as incentive. I wish they had model homes visible to see to know exactly what your getting or blue print to go over what includes in the home and how and Carpet will be laid.

I wish I could talk to someone who is a higher up in the company

The builder met each milestones in the construction process. Builder informed us of any delays and was able to make the lost time to complete the house on time. On few occasions, we had to follow-up with the builder.

electronic signing is nice but pagers fly by so fast you can't read completely

The options such as flooring, tile, fixtures and granite is very outdated and limited selection. You need a new designer for the 21st century. Workmanship was very good and construction team was excellent.

We bought this home together... Judith C. and Douglas M. We would rate the overall experience as average AT BEST. Sales process was good. Picking finishes process was above average. Many communication issues occurred prior to ground breaking, which was very late, which ended up costing us much money and frustration. Once construction began, things went pretty smoothly, though we found the workmanship in many areas disappointing - grouting / caulking poorly done or not done at all, electrical and heating and air conditioning workmanship haphazard in some places, painting of trim and doors was very disappointing and inadequate as was some detail carpentry. As the house went up, and the opportunity to change electrical outlet placement and light fittings SHOULD have still been open, it wasn't. Several options we could have selected were not verbalized to us, so we are paying to have it done after the fact or just doing without (gas piping into laundry room, vaulted ceilings, window in guest bath...) Landscaping was a nightmare and still is unsatisfactory. The construction manager tried in some cases to be helpful, but said his hands were tied. In other cases he was non-committal to fixing obvious mistakes, that, in our opinion, should have been fixed before we even saw them. for example the railing on the stairs to the back porch was placed in the middle of our dining room window. on other occasions he was very willing to get things fixed, especially after we had a home inspection by a 3rd party. We are still dealing with a dripping A/C register in the loft, that should never have been a problem... On the exterior, there are several areas where the concrete work was done using 2 different shades and looks lousy. Based on this experience, we would not hire this builder again as they do not really walk their talk... sadly. Given a 2nd chance, we would remodel an existing home, before having a mass builder like this one do one up from scratch. ... More

No follow up once you have closed

We wanted to love this process but there were challenges at every step of the way. The salespeople were not as knowledgeable as they should have been and did not communicate as well as they should have given that we have never built a house before. When we brought up concerns along the way we were told things would be taken care of "later" and that "later" meant after we were moved in. Overall, we are happy with the house (the frame and foundation are good) and we got everything we wanted at a reasonable price but not without loads of stress.

Overall experience was pleasant. We had some serious troubles deciding options/upgrades with sales agent Howard F. Many options were not explained to us and some we requested were not added to the contract. At some places door trims do not appear to be of good quality. Above all, after a month of closing, mailbox is still being setup and we haven’t handed over the keys yet. This has created a whole bunch of issues with mail handling and shipments. However, Cody and Meredith are trying to stay on top this issue and address it as best as they can.

We love our new home! The GE packages are nice to look at, but definitely cheap products. The dishwasher sounds like it’s trying to find it’s way out of the house! It’s super noisy! Stove is ok but the bottom drawer feels like it’s made of tin, super flimsy. Microwave sounds like it needs to be oiled. But they look good, lol. Had to fix a sprinkler pipe and they used pipe not much thicker than a straw. I didn’t know they even made pipe thinner than schedule 40! They build these houses so fast that there is no attention to detail. We replaced the vinyl, stick on, wood looking, flooring with ceramic wood tiles and found BIG pieces of cut, leftover sewer pipe. It was down in the pipe with a pile of toilet paper on top of it. This was when we removed the toilet for the floors to be tiled. Glad we found that before it clogged and backed up! No weed barrier under the bark in the front yards so weeds coming up non stop. Gutters are waves an full of leftover roofing materials and debris. Outlets in the garage aren’t powered enough for our refrigerator. Keeps popping breaker. Although we feel the price was fair, they could definitely do a few things better and have a beautiful product if they wanted to! Company and employees are great to work with but they are defunded a lot of pressure to get things done fast. They’re super busy trying to fix and repair things so they haven’t been able to coordinate a time to fix things for us yet but I trust they’re trying. They say they are, anyway. They have nice employees. We have a lot of little things that need to be attended to. I would recommend this company, just be prepared to replace a few things and be patient. We have great neighbors so far and that’s probably the best thing about moving in! ... More

Quality assurance for the home during the construction process is overlooked, all the emphasis is on delivering the home as soon as possible.

Where to begin. First, the POC changed during construction without notice. We only found out because we hadn’t heard from anyone for so long we emailed and days later got a response. The few times I had to call to inquire about updates for signing or scheduling, they hired part time who didn’t know and refused to get the info. We closed sooner than expected, however, many issues unseen at the time came to the forefront and when we submitted a “ticket” for service nothing happened. The biggest disappointment was the amount of ants that invaded our home. Scores and scores of them. I had to reseal areas that should have been taken care of during construction such as the kitchen and pantry. I was unable to establish entry to portal designed to support homeowners and no one knew how to resolve the issue. It took a week before i given a possible POC email to resolve the issue, but why would I want to hassle with that again? The foreman was the main saving grace. His kindness and professionalism is the only reason I haven’t been further disappointed. ... More

Needs to finish with quality .. hurried work on the house affected and added sour taste to my experience

A lot of issues with the construction, quality and operation of materials. The company seems very scatter brained and unorganized. The house seems like it was rushed without caring for the homeowner, hardly been in the house for six weeks and have had a plethora of issues. Had to submit two warranty claims before I was contacted. Failure to pay attention to details, simple things like leaving the gas line off, not installing strike plates on door frames. Sconces are missed bolt covers, looks tacky. Garage door off tracks, no light cover in bathroom for over a month. Still hasn’t touched up Sheetrock in laundry room after repairing the wall. A lot of contractors that are hired take 2-3 days to finish a job that takes a few hours. Often leave jobs unfinished, at least 10+ problems within the first month. No insulation on water hose spouts, which was on the list at walk through. Doors were installed incorrectly in media room and then a bad sheet rock job was done after repair. Areas of paint left not touched up. Probably would suggest people look at reviews for other companies before considering KHov ... More

The drywall finishing and tile installation is very disappointing and after one month, neither have been resolved.
