We were told the house would be completed in eight months. It actually took a year. When we arrived to do the final walk through there was no lock on the front door. The construction manager wasn’t aware that we were supposed to be closing that day and showed up an hour late after we called the sales manager to find him. The house still needed to be inspected. They pushed back closing a few hours to fix all the issues the inspector found. We were able to close. We have been spending the last two months fixing issues that we told the construction manager about at least three months before closing. ... More

The entire experience from start to finish was a very rocky road. I told my parents not to buy a house here because of it.

The Sales Team was excellent, however the Building Team fell far short. Poor workmanship, major defects and pushback from them after I paid for my home and asked to get everything completed and repaired. VERY disappointing!

This was not a good experience. Poor workmanship in home from framing issues, to air conditioning, sprinkler system, overall poor communication through the home buying process

Didn't lock in our rates before they were raised; didn't address issues despite being assured they would be fixed; model was deceptive on options available; poor craftsmanship, especially behind panels that you don't notice during walk through.

You're getting a vastly overprice "starter" home simply because of market conditions. You get a bathroom with one towel rack for two sinks and no medicine cabinets. You get 10'x10' bedrooms, barely large enough for a queen size bed and a bureau. Their design centers offer limited, but overpriced, selections.

The home buying process was a disappointment. It was not the 10 week delay as much as it was the lack of transparency and accountability about the delay. Ultimately I closed with 23 hours notice. I am told by visitors that the home looks nice. I do not see that. I see the numerous finishing details that need to fixed (e.g. spackle on the baseboard, the wall was painted around the light switch, the front door lock is crooked, the banister was not sanded, messy caul finishing in the kitchen, paint on trim around all the showers, etc.). All fixable but disappointing.

KHOV sales and design center are not concerned with the best interest of the buyer, and you need to ensure all discussions are in writing. Truthfully I would not have purchased from this builder knowing what I do now, and the dishonesty that is plagued throughout the process.

The builder walks away from your new home before basis jobs are complete. None of the walk through items have been readdressed. The interior of my home looks like it was never painted and the interior doors all need to be sanded and repainted. There is a lot of promises made at point of sale and few have been resolved. I would never buy another Khov. home or recommend one.

Need better accountability from home builder

Quality and and detail to work okay at best. Easily seen issues ignored unless brought up.

The sales team is like a used cars salesmen. Promising the sky and screwing you over. You walk in and fall in love with the model home and they tell you to put a down payment down without helping you price out items. The sales team keeps telling you that you can price out items during the design appointment but what they don't tell you is everything is an upgrade. To get the house even remotely updated, you got to spend over $60,000 in upgrades! It's too late when you find that out because you already put down a huge downpayment. I tried to price out everything with the sales team so I knew what I was getting into and I called out exactly what I wanted. The sales team ensured everything I asked for was included in the price. Now comes the shock, when you go into the design center you are told everything was basically priced out at base price like cheap kitchen cabinets and vinyl peel and stick flooring etc. I can go on and on. You're given a 1 year warranty on most work since it's a new house and things can go wrong which is understandable. I'm not mad at things going wrong because I've had plumbing issues, lock issues, and other minor things come up but they are NOT responsive. They can take weeks to get back to you, let alone send someone out to fix the issue. My sink wasn't working and they took about 2 weeks to send someone out. Customer service is terrible. They give you a date, they finish early. They give unrealistic closing date when the appraisals aren't complete then charge you by the day that you don't close. Very unhappy

The people I worked with were extremely sketchy - first, blatantly lying about the overall price of the unit and not disclosing that the price included incentives that required me to use their mortgage company. Second, including items (and costs) on the spec sheet which were NOT included in the finished home. As far as I can tell, the home seems well-built, but any buyers need to be EXTREMELY diligent in asking questions about the price, what’s included, and double/triple-checking all spec sheets and items included in the home to ensure they are getting what they paid for.

No spigot in the backyard. How are we to water our plants. Put the recycled water in the center of the walkway so we need to pay someone to fix it. Cheap paint that need to be upgraded, a lot of things offered by other housing developments not offered. People we complain to have to power to do anything their are held by what they say they can and can't do and that is to cheap out and tell the customer they can't do it. Think twice before purchasing a KHov house. People have written to the top and have been ignored. Google to see what I am talking about.

The homes are beautiful but there is not a great attention to detail. I don’t think buying a home should feel like is you v them but that was the overall feeling I had. Very limited knowledge of the builders contract on the sales side and sloppy craftsmanship inside. It feels as if there is very limited quality control on both ends.

Nice neighborhood, However, lacks the quality of work performed on the home (such as poor and incomplete paintwork, paint bubbles in the master bathroom walls, left cigarette butts through the front and backyard, incomplete landscaping, jobs incomplete throughout the home, trash left during building the home, and lack of consistency performed), My list of the items needing to fix continues to grow. Devin in the sales department was amazing. He went above and beyond to answer questions and assist in every way possible. He always made me valued as a customer. I was reluctant to buy another KHov product due to the awful experience with my first home in Plantation Lakes. Even after 4 years in that home, I never had a 1 year walk thru. This townhouse was purchased because it is what I could afford as a single mother. KHov has the potential to be a great company, but they cut corners when hiring skilled craftsman. I have crooked walls because of drywall finishing being done sloppily. I have nail pops in a row all the way down almost every wall. This just goes to show you that they are in a hurry to slap things together. ... More

When going through looking at the framing, noticed a lot of the studs were spliced together or has a secondary board braced next to it. Lots of bad cuts where joints had open gaps. Boards were splintered or cracked and were used with support instead of being replaced. Not the quality we were expecting.

The sales team were wonderful to work with and were very responsive through the sales process. However, the options offered by K. Hovnanian were far below industry standards. For example: it was extra for the electric garage door opener, it was extra for the man door in the garage, it was an extra for the 220 in the laundry room (we received it only after we demanded to get it put in) and it was extra for ceiling fans. All of the items listed were included as not an extra in our last two new home purchases, and were included in other models we toured. Additionally, we had to find the paint colors and obtain touch up paint as it was not included in our package. That is unheard of! The follow up from the warrantee and construction team is very poor. We have had to paint areas that we pointed out in our punch walk and there is still blue tape on other areas that has never been followed up on since. I am in the Construction industry, and with the exception of your sales force, we have found the design, construction and warrantee teams performance below standard when compared to others. ... More

The shower grout is not good, the baseboard in the floor is loose, the closet magnet are not catching very well, the lament floors are starting to come up even after I have mopped the floor with a damped cloth. The elevators are a big issue. I was told that cement will be placed on top of the ceiling. However, you can hear when furniture is being moved or a kid jumping up and down. You can hear when someone is walking on their floor.

I am not at all happy with Khovnanian homes. The workmanship and quality of the builder is atrocious. When speaking with the builder he made it obvious that the company only allows him to hire the very worst of contractors to perform the building of the homes. I cannot say that I was pleased with any aspect of the construction of this home. I was happy with the fact that Home came blind and that the backyard was sodded. But none of the bathrooms were equipped with any towel hooks or towel bars. Also, I remodeled the master bathroom and discovered how the bathrooms were built and went to the builder and had all of the other bathrooms in the house redone because they were all built the same way. The toilet in my daughter’s room leaked, Thank God it was over the garage. You have fixed that. The garage interior door has not worked correctly since we moved in. All of the seals are breaking and falling off. This was after y’all sent your doorman to come work on it. I have been waiting three weeks for someone to come back and correct that issue.The air conditioner has not worked properly since we moved in. The electrician put in an undersized breaker that trips all of the time. We’ve had issues with Sheetrock not being finished properly and then the repairs to those having to be done three or four times over. The paint is literally the same color as the drywall mud so that if they miss a spot painting, an untrained, eye could not tell the difference. Overall, this was a extremely cheap build, and I would not recommend it to anyone. ... More

I am disappointed with the quality of the build, especially the painting. The front door should not have passed the hurricane test as the screws were 3/4 inch and not up to code. The grass died before the close date and I never heard back about replacing it. Never again will I purchase a home from KHov.

I am a first time home buyer and I was extremely excited and nervous to make the first major purchase of my life and to actually be able to do so. I didn’t have the best experience with Darren he is the person that we first encountered when we looked at the model home. He gave us what I thought was thorough information, but there were way to many discrepancies down the line and he didn’t own up to his mistakes which was annoying. The loan officer Burke was extremely rude. He made me feel as though me asking questions and or me clarifying information that he gave was annoying him to the point he was agreeing to things that I repeated back to him to clarify that was incorrect. And when later questioned he claimed I was the one that didn’t hear correctly. He was extremely rude nearly every time I spoke with him to the point I tried to limit it so that I didn’t talk myself out of purchasing my new home. Once in my home I noticed that things were missing screws and already falling off the wall there was no toilet tissue holder in the half bathroom and the kitchen sink has been loose since the day after moving in. The craftsmanship is very subpar at best however its an opportunity for me to put my spin on it but for the price you would think at least there would be a frame around the mirror in the bathroom at the least. I am totally disappointed and sad that I made a wrong decision buying house from KHOV. Subbu
