Worst quality of workmanship and after-purchase service

We started the process in July 2021, sold our home Aug 2021 and was told closing would be March 2022. My family and I had to move 6 times because of lies on top of lies about our home. The customer service has been terrible along with the craftsmanship of our million home. Every single neighbor we have spoke to had nothing nice to say about their experience. We closed September 2022 and our home is not complete. 1 month in nothing they said they were going to do has been done. Totally regret ever going with this company.

I will definitely not recommend this builder

With this being our 5th new build and first with KHovnanian I can say they are by far the worst. Their workers are inexperienced off the street people who obviously do not know what they are doing and not skilled in the job they are doing. Painting and grout was horrible. We get no response as far as getting items that were wrong or never done. I would never buy another home from this builder again.

We had lots of issues on our house, and they are not taking responsibility to fix the issues, we were promised that it will be fixed after the closing but , not they are telling we need to call the warranty dept. we feel like we were rushed to close it even though lots of issues were not addressed . this is our third home purchase and never had issues like this but I will not recommend anyone to buy the house like this. The finishing is not there, looks like someone rushed to finish the project, if you guys want I can share some valuable pictures which is very disappointing

We moved in and reported the various issues we saw. They've been out several times to "fix" the issues. The "extras" we paid for are complete crap (were never informed the paint wasn't washable, lighting fixtures are cheap plastic). Would not recommend this builder at all. Talking to others in the neighborhood, who have had similar experiences. Some are going on 6+ months of waiting for repairs to be done (again).

Builder could not oversee the work of there sub contractors. Very poor workmanship and lots of wasted time and money fixing problems and damage to finished work. Builder management changed 6 times during building process and had no accountability

I still can't move into the house. The wind ripped off the shingles , inside the house a lot of touchups, cabinets are damaged, the hood over the gas stove does not work, the stair case with holes and gaps and is not staining well, the workers come to repair and only makes it worse than it was before, main door is not finished, in master bathroom granite and floor chipped. we waiting patiently and give some time to finish all leftovers but after 5 weeks workers comes couple times and leave behind dirt from the putty on the carpet. Quality of our home shows a total lack of effort. Some items are so embarrassing, one might think they would rush over to correct? No, wait weeks on end to get a repair that is only slightly better than the original mess. At some point you just give up which seems to be the K Hov warranty strategy.

My husband and I will never recommend Khov to anyone based on our experience. We do not believe the KHov sales team was forthright with information leading up to closing. The KHov sales team were also completely unavailable on the day of closing with the exception of the onsite construction manager who processed our final walkthrough. We ran into construction issues during our final walkthrough and could not get through to anyone to discuss next steps or delaying closing until the issues were resolved. This put us in a position of having to decide whether to be in default or go to closing with a blemished home with zero input on next steps from KHov. As for build quality, there were numerous issues with the vinyl flooring on the first two levels including excessive bubbling, scratches and large gouges bad enough you could see the subfloor. We were told the problems were related to the material, that they were having issues with multiple properties and that KHov management was working on a solution. We were also assured the issues would be resolved before closing. When we inquired about exactly how they would be resolved and expressed our concerns over large scale patching we were not provided a clear response. On our final walkthrough we discovered the repairs were also done poorly with more bubbling, blemishes in multiple places and multiple new areas with debris under the vinyl resulting in visible sharp bulges in the flooring that were not there on the initial walkthrough. KHov worked with the flooring subcontractor to come in and fix the new flooring issues after closing but we were never told what the subcontractor did to fix the flooring issues even after multiple emails requesting more information. Overall, this was not a smooth or pleasurable process and it seemed like their only concern was making sure we got to closing before the end of the sales month. ... More

I have built many homes in the past and this by far has been the worst experience. Everything was blamed on COVID even though the real truth was that they have poor communication, no direction, lie a lot and their own employees keep quitting.

Terrible service, terrible house, terrible products

I’m a first time homeowner and this experience has been a big disappointment. I was pressured to close quickly, my concerns were dismissed, and it has been one problem after another-from countertops not being glued down to uneven floors. KHOV only cares about meeting their quota and getting the closings done. They take no pride in the workmanship that is put into the luxury homes they claim to be building. I closed two months ago and the repairs have still not be taken care of. I would never refer someone to buy a KHOV home.

We really looked forward to moving in and enjoying all the amenities this house had to offer but from our closing date being delayed multiple times to a walk through of which there were multiple glaring issues, our experience with khov was extremely poor and utterly disappointing. We at every experienced with new build home buying, and this was by far the worst in every way possible. They tried to convince us to close on the home when it wasn’t even in livable condition, and after the most upsetting walk through, a second walk through, and yet another delayed move-in date these are the issues that followed: water leaking from the master bath tub, which lead to water damage on the kitchen floor, and a hole in the ceiling of a brand new home to fix the problem, and also no hot water in the bathtub. Starting from sales to closing, I had every very bad experience and quality is very bad.. I might choose wrong option and i don't recommend for any one.. I see very poor architecture, workmanship, quality.. There were many damages and feel very poor quality materials and clearly reflect negligence of the builder. Dish washer is not event connected with power cable and with in two weeks in two baths we are using,, three lights are not working..

They rush you to settlement with open promises and never complete a task. They never show up for follow up appointments. There is no excuse for poor customer service. Totally under staffed but they keep starting new houses but never finish the others.

I've had a better time at a used car lot... Total took advantage of the market, they know we basically had no other option. Warranty department has been great, However none of these issues should have gotten that far

Do not use their finance company. Quality of workmanship is terrible. Every door frame is in new home is damaged or chipped. Paint job for the whole house is the cheapest and worst out of the 4 houses we have owned. Multiple spots on the walls that were damaged were just painted over. To many issues to even list. The only reason they get one star is because of the kitchen. Best part of our new home. Over all I would recommend to look somewhere else if your looking for a new home.

On 9/28/2021 I closed a house in Alvin, TX. During the process, there were a lot of problems with the builder. I have emails where I started to point out details, he told me that I "didn't understand" and that "this is construction." I actually work in the industry, so I do understand. I stopped visiting during the construction of the house because I just got frustrated every time I went due to how dirty, and poorly coordinated it was being built. Before closing, they were supposed to fix the vinyl flooring but the vinyl subcontractor didn't even go, but he told me they did. I have pictures of how all the vinyl flooring is coming out due to poor glue applications, poor coordination, and lack of supervision. They went to "fix it", but a few days later they started coming out again. I requested ALL the vinyl flooring to be replaced. A GC's job is literally to manage risk and supervise, but the builder of my house told me he "couldn't supervise flooring" which is the poorest excuse I've ever heard, you just have to follow the same route they do, look through the windows, put a camera, etc. He constantly told me "remind" him of his own meetings with me. A client should not be reminding a builder of scheduled meetings. I am very unsatisfied, frustrated, and disappointed with myself for choosing K HOV as my builder. It took them like 3 weeks to coordinate a simple flooring issue. When they did fix the flooring they made a complete mess, couldn't even put back the barn doors correctly, screwed up the garage door, and I could keep going. As of 11/5, I haven't been able to move in. I will not be recommending K HOV to anyone, and this is the first and last time I will be building with K. HOV. I will not buy again K.Hovnanian because Quality is really Bad.A lot of issues need to be fix.Construction worker and inspection are not professional.They don’t know how to do they jobs.We are not happy.If we know the kind of issues we wouldn’t buy a home from K.Hovnanian.We should buy other Builder.We spend so much money for our home but quality we got very very bad.I will not recommend all my family’s,coworkers and all my friends.All outside Electronically outlets no power until now.I told construction manager and supervisor but still not done yet.Home number sign has no light until now.Flooring had gap everywhere upstairs and down stairs.ant and spider coming from flooring gap hole.we are very disappointed.Stairs handle was broken.Screws mark hole every where.Dry wall had damaged and bath tube had damaged in master bathroom and downstairs full bath.We spend so much money for a home but not even worth it.Very careless peoples.We are the most not happy about our home a lot of issues need to be fix it.Support to be no need to be worry about anything.If you guys are expect persons it shouldn’t be like this.Very Very Bad construction K.Hovnanian.Sale agent was super nice and she know what she doing her jobs.She was more then outstanding jobs.Her name is Niki.I will give her 100%.We are very happy with sale agent Niki.We are spending so much money for upgrading but Quality was really bad.Construction peoples are not professional.They are not doing good jobs for most likely every where our home.Other home owner have a lot issues too.Overall we are not happy because of a lot of issues need to be fix.Support to be not to worry about anything.We will not buy again K.Hovnanian in our life time.It is our family’s dream home support to be enjoying and happiness because of construction workers are not very careless and don’t care about home owners.Because of what they did our home quality was very very Bad.That right we can not enjoy our dream family’s home and we are not happy.Never buy again with K.Hovnanian Homes. ... This was the worst experience I’ve ever encountered. As a homeowner and purchase five homes in the past I have need witnessed such unprecedented behavior from an organization. The communication between the sales person to the financial and builder management. This was a cash purchase and it was if I was being penalize for a cash purchase. For additional information I would love to share just how unprofessional this whole ordeal was.

Overall terrible experience with the builder from start till the end. Poor quality, not worth at all the price of the house. Terrible quality of workmanship. K Hovnanian should be ashamed of their team and the way they deliver the house. We were missing, mirrors, vanities, wrong island color, cracks in the wall, missing bulbs, leak in the garage, 2 different color banisters, dents and chips of paint everywhere on our SETTLEMENT DAY. Absolutely, not acceptable from any builder!!! And the list goes on and on…

We had an extremely negative experience with KH including continual unexplained delays, poor quality of work (as even noted by the construction manager), poor communication or lack there of (including disingenuous representation of stating work was done (or would be) which was not), the inability to speak with a manager when initially requested, the delay of inspection and settlement due to not meeting work deadlines, and the disregard for the overall customer. We would not recommend KH to a future buyer. And still, after a more than a month in the property, with many outstanding issues, including serious ones, there has been no resolution to fix by KH. The only issue that has been fixed is a manufacturer's issue by GE (not KH). In conversations with neighbors, this seems to be the consistent experience. To paint our garage we had to hire a drywall repair person to fix the poor quality of work done by KH just to be able to paint. This development was not managed or constructed with the mission or commitment stated on your website. We would not recommend and in fact, would suggest other customers avoid KH. ... More

1 Start is too much. The sales process rushed us through decisions, lied, and then had absolutely no accountability after our decisions were made and they messed up. We made several trips to try to hold the teams hands and help the process go more smoothly. Once our contract was signed, we made sure to monitor the progress and were amazed at how incompetant the GC (John H.) was, and how the labor was unqualified to perform general duties. After being rushed through the closing process, we were asked to hide issues so employees "would not get into trouble" and told they would make sure we ended up with an acceptable product. We were also told that K. Hovnanian only looks to make a profit and really is not the builder to choose if you expect any quality. The focus is on speed and profit, at the buyers expense. Since closing we have encountered: A driveway that has 2 feet of consistant standing water Two roof leaks Damaged drywall due to leaks Not functioning A/C Shower doors and tile installed incorrectly leading to flooding and tile damage No grass planted in major areas of the house (Mud and erosion occuring) Several electrical components not functioning Poorly installed cabinetry (we fixed at our own expense) Doors that don't close Several plumbing leaks Appliance installed incorrectly and not leveled No working hot water ...
