Overall the sales price was nice. Professionalism and manners of staff not so great. They do not replace appliances or major fixtures in home even if needing to be replaced.

I was overwhelmed with everything at first, because this was my first home buying experience. Meredith, Nia, and Jeremy led me through the entire process and were always willing to answer questions and concerns. They made themselves available through the entire build and even continue to provide exceptional service after closing. I have heard nightmares about other home building experiences, but I am beyond impressed and thankful for the service I received and am so happy in my new home.

This was a fantastic buying experience. The sales consultant was friendly, accommodating, and authentic which are qualities hard to come across in a sales oriented position. She played an integral role in my decision to purchase a K. Hovnanian home. The contractor has added a reassurance to the quality and craftsmanship of my recent purchase. He is thorough, takes the time to provide clear explanations to my inquiries, and he’s quick at getting tasks done. For anyone looking to purchase a new home, I will surely refer them to K. Hovnanian homes.

3 years ago we walked into the Ellwood model in Sycamore, IL and to say we fell in love with this home is an understatement! The minute we walked into the house we felt like this was our forever home! Unfortunately, things were not in a financial place with us that weren't able to start our build. Over the 3 years Sue, the sales rep, and I had remained in contact with one another. One day I emailed her and said "how many lots are left?" and she told me 3. Immediately my husband and I went to meet with her and we discussed everything and decided now was the time and we would sell our town house and start our build. During this time Sue was remarkable! She was attentive to our needs, quick to respond to any questions, was patient,and above all made us feel comfortable. We sold our townhouse that we had for 14 years after 3 days on the market and life seemed to be a whirlwind for us. We were nervous and overwhelmed. We met with Mike, Project manager, and the level of professionalism and genuine care he displayed is beyond all words. He kept us informed about all progress on the house and took the time to answer all questions. His attention to client care and satisfaction is exemplary. Mike worked diligently to have us in our forever home before Christmas and he made yet another dream a reality. The entire experience was effortless and just remarkable. We knew that K. Make sure you understand that when they tell you that you have x values in upgrades that they are going to add that to your final sale price. Nothing is free.

Its not a custom home, so one should keep that in mind. They are very restrictive as to changes they allow to the basic plans. Keith, their onsite builder, was excellent. Extremely responsive to everything we brought up during the building process. I do think they charge way too much for upgrades and their design center options were at times limited (eg light fixtures) and always overpriced. Its cheaper at times to take their included option and then go get what you want and replace it after you close. I do like that they do not skimp on some of the of the major issues. For example there are not areas on the outside that are not bricked. And they seem to keep a close eye on their subs and make sure things get done correctly. ... More

We purchased a brand new home and had an amazing experience. We have referred to family and friends. The attention to detail is seen in every aspect of the home.

We moved across the country with two kids, two cats and a dog. On top of that, we were moving over the Christmas holiday, so it was a challenging time to be trying to get things done. Our biggest concern was having a home to move into immediately. We bought a brand new home that was move in ready we had found online. We had owned a KHov home previously, so we knew we were in good hands, but it was a scary time for us. Sue from KHov immediately felt like a family friend that we had known forever. She was ALWAYS in contact with us, helped us through every step and ensured we would have keys they minute we arrived in Oswego. After a three-day drive, being handed our keys truly allowed me to take my first big breath of relief. We love our home and are so happy! It’s hard to articulate how critical our new home was for us in this move. I can say Sue, and the whole crew at KHov are truly wonderful, caring people who also moved mountains to ensure we had all we needed. Was a pleasure working with K. Hovnanian on buying our new home. We never dreamed of owning a brand new home but with KHov, it was easier than we though. we really appreciated the attention to some slight details that the builders gave us after we closed and moved in.

The home buying experience was a pleasant one. The sales and construction managers are responsive and work hard to ensure best customer experience.

This is probably not a fair review as I have only lived in this home for one month. I'd like to give another one in one year. As of now I would do it all over again. Besides dealing with Lois the office manager or design center.

My family was disappointed in the overall home buying experience with K. Hovnanian. There was constant miscommunications, lack of details, promises unkept, displeasure with the product from day 1 of the home buying process. If you do purchase a home through K. Hovnanian be sure to ask plenty of questions on the details of everything, don't assume anything, expect delays in the whole process. Bottom line: You are just another customer and they are going to try to spend the least amount of money and least amount of effort to complete your house.

Our experience has been positive. We live in a construction area as new places are prepared for sale, so the noise, mess, and road issues exist temporarily. There is an effort to keep these things minimized. Everyone has been very helpful and informative, especially the builder's supervisors on site. Sometimes issues have lingered longer than we would like (since we like to get things done immediately), but they do get resolved. We are pleased to be here.

Understand the community your buying into, and be prepared to get involved. Join and be an active member in your HOA!

For the most part, all was well until closing. As I was very clear to my salesperson that I would like a clear understanding of the process for closing. I was not clear about the process leading up to a day or two before closing. I was receiving multiple calls by multiple individuals about the closing date however closing dates had been changed by the builder on several occasions. When I needed an extended amount of time I was given no alternative but to pay an additional $3,700.00 upfront for days that I did not use. When I wrote a check, I was asked to give a cashier's check which was not stated in my contract and I had given a check for the earnest money. After closing my salesperson did not conclude our business with as much as a thank you card or a welcome to my new home package. Finally, the person at the closing (title company representative) gave me the Family and Friends Plan certificate with no explanation.
