Could do better,if they paid more attention to details.

It has been one month since we moved in. We had no major issue, except one week delay due to electricity permit from the town. K. Hovnanian paid for our hotel for that week. The house is beautiful, well done. After we moved in, we had our own inspector to do a report and it came back clean. Also, we had our home insurance sending their rep to check on the quality of the structure and windows and the same results – well built. The only branch that made us wonder was the Escrow Company. My home is solid and tight and overall lovely but the details, the ones you pay big for because they are lumped in packages or you were charged for making a modification, are sloppy and/or missing. Upgrading a room means paying for the layout, not upgraded materials as you will still pay for those at the design center. The design center offers a few options only, especially at the grade 1 and 2 levels. Even when upgraded, things such as knobs, kitchen faucets and shower doors are extra. The electronics office, picking out internet/automation/lighting/securtiy systems is super high pressure and not enjoyable in the least. Both design center and electronics were beyond slow at getting the materials to the me/office putting my build behind schedule. The building though was efficient and fast. Once built, the trim work in the home is sloppy in areas. Things like nicked wood or raw edges on trim are covered in spackle and painted over. Nails showing or popping through wood, and cracks in cabinets are left unattended...it's careless construction in what could be a perfectly beautiful home. The landscaping is basic and done with very inexpensive plants, cheap trees, too many shrubs. Overall, I do like my new home and the people I worked with are very nice and helpful. The salesman was charming and responsive, the construction managers are all informative and helpful. I would work with the people again but likely not get another khov home. ... More

We thoroughly enjoyed the design experience to make our new home as personal as possible. We were surprised of how we had the opportunity to choose all the interior finishings with many choices to select from. We had a very great experience with the staff at the sales office Nikki, June and Ed were all very friendly, professional and efficient. They took all of our concerns very seriously and were excellent communicators through the entire process of purchasing from start to finish. Scott and Eric with construction team did a great job - however some more thorough quality control would have been appreciated. We are experiencing some flooring, door and exterior railing issues as well as a damaged dryer. Overall the home was built very well except for a few areas we are hopeful and expecting that Phil and the warranty team will take care of in a timely and professional manner. Some construction issues need to be rectified that were not handled or realized before closing. My husband and I overall feel extremely happy we have selected this community to live and grow in. So its now been 35 days since our closing and we have numerous aka punch list items that have not been addressed that we all supposed to be completed in 21 days. But our only communication is done when we reach out to them. The 2nd level of our home is so warped & un-level that the company we hired to install our engineered wood floor has told us its impossible to get the new floors even with out bumps due to the ply wood that is warped from rain & being installed to tightly. So after spending 458k & putting down $300k with the expectation of demoing in another $50k to get the home how we want it, it's now looking like we are fixing the builders issue to correct the home. Also we have found soda bottles with soda in them behind our bathroom walls & water bottles filled with chewing tobacco behind the walls. Yes we are redoing the bathroom tiles ourselves since all the high gloss tiles were installed with scratches all over them..... Total nightmare! ... More

Home looks good. Materials used might be cheap for the price paid.

Overall experience has been positive. Unfortunately, the settlement company did not send proper paperwork to the water company and the HOA. We settled on October 28 and our water was cut off on November 28 the day after Thanksgiving. Of course, no one was available to assist us because it was a holiday weekend. Our goal was to stay a few days but had to return to Bowie, Md. We returned to Delaware on Monday. After numerous emails and phone calls the water was cut on at 3:15 pm.on Monday Thanks to Nick and Tom for being empathetic and caring. It was would have been nice if the company had offered accommodations elsewhere in Delaware. We are experienced homeowners and have never experienced this level of incompetence. Obviously, someone dropped the ball. Hopefully, no one else will endure this unfortunate experience. ... More

I had a great experience from seller to construction manager. Everyone went beyond expectation to make the deal go smoothly.

Very friendly people although it’s best to have everything in writing! Overall the house is great, minor quality issues in building and they will respond eventually, patience is key working with them. At the end of the day, we are happy but bumpy road to get there.

Have some problems with the house that could of been avoided if the workers pay attention to details. Problems such as leaking. The workers wants to build too fast to meet a death line even after I told them to take their time but to build a quality product.

Traci is absolutely amazing!! She is such a professional, so calming and reassuring. It was a pleasure working with her. We had some real ups and downs with the lender we were prequalified through and Traci saved the day (literally) and introduced us to an excellent lender. Now we are home owners! Definitely a pleasure and a blessing working with KHOV... and we love our new home!

Rushed to close. Unfinished home. Played games with the financing and credits. Poor experience all around.

The employees at K. Hovnanian Homes are so good to work with. I love the use of the square footage in the home. It is a great space for me and my girls. The neighborhood id in a great location with both schools so close that my kids can walk to school It's been an amazing time saver for me in the morning.

I would highly recommend KHovnanian Home Builders to anyone who wants to purchase a new home. We expected the process of building our first home to be extremely overwhelming and were hesitant to begin the process, however we were supported 110% of the way from start to finish. From the sales person who went out of her way to provide support and superior customer service, to the design center where we were able to choose all of our finishes. We were able to work within a budget we could afford and couldn't be happier with the value, craftsmanship, and quality of our new home. We still can't believe we own our first home and are stunned at how beautiful it is. Initially, we had a great deal of anxiety, but the loan officer was able to answer our questions and was more than helpful. When closing on our new home, I had to close without my husband who couldn't be there, however the process went very smoothly and I was in and out of the closing without any issues. Best of all, I cannot forget the Senior Community Construction Manager. He was thorough, obsessive compulsive about every single detail and was always available to me for everything. If I ever had any issues, he took care of them immediately. Each of the meetings I had with him were informative and I always left feeling good about the process. Our home was delivered in time to meet our personal request, as we were nearing the end of our lease. We were pleasantly surprised each and every time we visited our home through the building process, and we couldn't be happier today! The construction manager still continues to reach out to make sure we are happy, and we sincerely appreciate his outstanding customer service! Laundry list of issues with the house before we even moved in. Many items still haven't been fixed. Sales reps are great until you give them a deposit. The house was clearly rushed and I am sure we will experience more issues down the road.
