The warranty staff (other than ADAM) is annoying and has a habit of obliging for a smallest thing that they would do that's covered under warranty.

Inadequate and poorly designed HVAC. Finished basement needs three electric heaters to maintain heat with rest of home. ‘Fully Finished’ basement has half the ducts as same sqft first floor and they are surprised it doesn’t heat the same. Framing has open channel for additional HVAC trunk but remains empty soffit space in basement. They won’t let us make finished basement a third zone by adding the separate trunk, threatening to void our home warranty. So prepare for huge electric bills in this supposedly energy efficient home. If only Energy Star visited builder homes to see if they actually deliver on efficiency promises. If only… Thermostat, supply and return placed on same interior wall with 3’ of each other in Master Bedroom. Holes in bedroom walls into hallway instead of return ducts is like having the kids sleep with their doors open. Our fourth month since closing and still can’t change our address with banks, store deliveries, etc because KHOV did not get our new street into USPS Address Management System during construction process. We, the homeowners, made this happen through multiple Postal Investigations, and literally catching KHOV on the street and handing phone to the project manager who replied to USPS, Okay what forms do you need me to submit? 28 open items remain on our punch list. Weeks elapse between responses from KHOV for even the simplest of things. The only timely responses are when a leak is reported or when they can just call manufacturer service, like when the brand new washer (included with home purchase) blew circuit breaker and died upon first use. We had to live our first three weeks WITHOUT A WASHER as we had to allow GE service follow their warranty process. Any other builder would’ve swapped our DOA washer since same washer/dryer sets in every home. We’ve bought new construction in this same town from both Toll Brothers and Lennar over last 15 years and both were very easy experiences with none of these issues. KHOV expends more effort dodging issues than if they were to just address them. KHOV seems to not care about anything but selling out and starting the next development. ... More

The purchasing experience with our sales rep. Jessica was great, she went over and above to get answers to questions, etc... Getting our closing documents ahead of time was a disaster, not very prepared. The punch list for the home is still not complete after 3 months. The builders field rep from the Khov tells you what he thinks you want to hear with no follow up. Never writes anything down so I have to send numerous emails, text messages, photos reminding him of the outstanding items, in which very few items have been completed. I'm just very disappointed and frustrated that once the house was purchased it's a continual fight to get warranty items taken care of for the home we purchased. ... More

From the front office starting the process, nor us or our realtor could ever get Jessica to respond on a timely manner whether they were time sensitive questions or not. When she should reply finally, if it was something where she was going to send us documents we would request the file would either be corrupt or it would be weeks till we got it and we wouldn’t hear from her in between. Alan was the only saving grace. He was extremely professional and respectful to me, my wife, and our realtor. Although we did reach out around the one month mark of moving in for him and the contractors to come back out and fix some things that were found post move in and he said he would come the same day if not the next day and he never showed up. ... Katrina and Arnold made this entire experience as easy as possible. As first time homebuyers, the whole process can be so overwhelming, but Katrina and Arnold answered every question and made us aware of every option available to us.

Claire was very helpful and knowledgeable of the Hovnanian Products, She delivered on all my questions and concerns. Ben was the one who monitored our build process and gave me a weekly text with pictures of the build process. Upon delivery Ben spent a great deal of time explaining every aspect of the home pans answered all my questions.

The buying process went as smooth as it could possibly go I believe. This was my first time buying a house so I wasn’t not familiar with the process but I do think that Jacqui did a great job with staying in touch with me and explaining things.

The shower grout is not good, the baseboard in the floor is loose, the closet magnet are not catching very well, the lament floors are starting to come up even after I have mopped the floor with a damped cloth. The elevators are a big issue. I was told that cement will be placed on top of the ceiling. However, you can hear when furniture is being moved or a kid jumping up and down. You can hear when someone is walking on their floor.

My experience with Khov has been Amazing. Danielle was great. She helped us find our dream home and feel confident in our purchase. Josh and Jason have further been a source of confidence for anything I needed at or after closing as well.

I was pleasantly surprise with the good quality of work and experience.

Sales people and on site construction supervisors were professional and responsive. Finance personnel were were not always professional and somewhat none responsive. Overall good experience.

Enjoyable buying experience! I would do it again.

Buying a new house does come with added stress but when that stress is increased due to the lack of updates or lack of attention to issue with no updates or evident issues were corrected and a lack of communication — just unacceptable!! To add to this when you purchase a tech package you expect that the wiring is work vs more out of pocket cost and time & effort you have to put in. To add more to this debris that the trades leave behind that gets blown around is just disrespectful to owners and unacceptable that the builder is not stepping up to recognize there is an issue.

When we bought the house, we were aware that the flooring was not of the highest quality, but we were okay with that trade-off. However, we encountered a couple of issues that were disappointing. When attempting to mount a TV upstairs, we discovered that the studs are spaced every 2 feet on interior non-load bearing walls, which made the process more challenging than expected. Additionally, the glass on the patio door was scratched, and we have been waiting for a replacement for almost three months now.

We’ve been in this house 3 months. Poor quality workmanship. People are very nice but like I said the quality is not there. There are seams in carpet and the carpet does not ware well, walls are painted uneven and marks can be made so easily they use flat paint. When asked to fix these issues their response was, “that’s how it is in the model” but my bathroom was built differently than the model which threw me off when ordering storage. Been here 3 mo. So far the heating and cooling and appliances are fine.

It is a great neighborhood. I wish they would have better customer service after you purchase the home. I moved in and noticed so many problems that I have not been receiving any help with. before purchasing the home I was very excited and loved the customer service but I guess that was just to get me to purchase the home. Now nothing but rude comments and no action.

We were impressed by the steps laid out for the purchase, various stages of construction, and through the sale of our home. Everything was explained in detail. The result was excellent. We are very pleased. We had our previous home built for us and our experiences have been totally different. We would purchase through Hovnanian again.

My certificate of occupancy was not not done on the settlement day. My sales rep Michael never called me back when I told him about the issues. I never heard from when I moved in also.
