In terms of communication, Mr. Aaron always was willing to explain with details and response any questions and always very fast. In terms of construction, I guess the walk-through is not enough to see any issues, you will find scratches in mirrors, stains on the floors that you have to scratch and clean over and over, bumps under the carpet, things that you actually notice when you live in the house and start cleaning, sweeping, etc. Overall, it was ok, not a WOW for me.

From the first inquiry KHOV has treated me exceptionally well! They showed me appreciation and consideration from day 1. When I went under contract, Shelby and Gary took exceptional care of me. Even after I closed they checked on me to make sure I didn’t need anything! Absolutely wonderful. KHOV made my home purchase process so easy. Home was completed in stated timeframe. Lender was fantastic too! 5 stars!

Prior to moving into our home I told everyone who walked us through the home (sales and site managers) several times over the course of four months, that there was a strong natural gas odor in the home. I was told it was checked, however after moving in I continued to smell the gas and became ill with a headache and nausea that lasted days. I called the gas company and they immediately locked the gas meter and informed me the house was never pressure tested for a gas leak and there was indeed a leak. When the pressure test was done the following Monday the leak was found in my bedroom closet. Had anyone slept in the house, they could have died. There was a recall on the electrical panel, that could potentially cause a fire, in June, that had not been rectified before we closed in September. They passed responsibility to the homeowner to contact the manufacturer to correct the defect in the panel. These are serious mistakes that should never have happened. Lastly, they’ve place a large dumpster at the base of my driveway, making it near impossible to maneuver out of the driveway without bumping the dumpster, which we have and caused damage to our vehicle. I was told by management, since September, it would be moved over and nothing has been done. They still have not called regarding the repair of our damaged bumper nor has the dumpster been moved away from our driveway. ... More

Great on the sales side. Nonexistent on the service side.

This is my 3rd NEW construction home build. I was extremely pleased with the response from both my sales person and my construction manager. They were both amazing in the process and addressed each and any concern that I had/have. Home building is not perfect, but what counts is the eagerness to get the problems solved and corrected and they do it without an attitude. My construction Mgr, Cysco was so nice, professional and helpful. He was never ugly or impatient or anything but willing to address anything I was concerned about. I really appreciated that too. Buying a home is not only stressful but expensive these days. We could all argue for "what you are getting for the price issue" as the prices these days are shocking for our area but it us what it is and growth is a part of life. I could argue that there could be more items included " for the price" but they are not out of line from any other builder at this time with the challenges the builders have all had these last 2 1/2 years. I am also a seasoned real estate agent who has built many homes from scratch with my own clients. There are builders out there who cut corners and do not care about their home buyer's needs or concerns. Our sales rep Danielle was great throughout the entire process she kept us up to date with what was going on every week with videos and pictures. The home is great, there’s a couple little things that we’ll be contacting the warranty department about but they are very minor. Overall we are very happy.

The entire team has been excellent. From the start Monica has been very kind and helpful. We appreciate her thoughtfulness, checking in on us, and pushing to close on time. Brian and his team are very helpful, kind, and responsive to every request. We appreciate their hard work.

The good: Let me start off by saying that Matt and Everett are amazing employees for KHOV. They go above and beyond for each homeowner. It is a great pleasure in speaking with them and knowing they care in helping out. Matt drove to the condo on his day off to help me out with getting me into the building so Verizon could install my internet. That is the level of customer support which is extremely appreciated though not an expectation by any means. The bad: This condo was 8 months overdue and KHOV senior management was not helpful one bit. As a customer it was incredibly frustrating to deal with the company who would not release an estimated completion date based on circumstances they were experiencing. I couldn't care less about how delayed it was, I just wanted to stop paying month to month lease prices because the rates were astronomical ($4,000+ per month) and moving 3 times in those 8 months. I would've been perfectly happy had they said its going to be delayed 4+ months. That way I could have signed a 4 month lease somewhere and paid a lot less rather than getting an email that says, "hey it might be done next month, but we don't know" Which is why i was forced to go month to month on leases. I expected them to be more forthcoming with information and provide semi-accurate dates based on where they were at that point in time and based on what was going on at the time. Next up KHOV financing. They were the worst bunch of folks to deal with. Usually financing departments call a month before hand and lock in the interest rate. KHOV financing expects you to call them and hound them for paperwork and locking in rates. They are slow to get back to you and show unnecessary attitude. They are incredibly unorganized and unprofessional. My closing cost jumped by $3000 without explanation, and I found this out the day of closing. The only way I got an explanation was because I called them to get one. What made it worse is that the day before, I was told my closing cost would go down by a couple of hundred. The condo - It looks beautiful and I like living here. However, there were 40 issues with it that I had to get fixed by continuing to call Everett. Apparently they "did not rush" when making this building, yet my condo had 40 issues. Electrical socket was loose, paint was sloppy, they installed cabinet doors that were clearly not drilled in the right places initially, covered up and then the correct handles were put on, cabinets took a beating in shipment or installation because some of mine have visible cracks going all the way down the side. Overall KHov was responsive and provides a good product. Attention to detail for a new home needs to be improved by their subcontractors, but in most cases they respond in a timely manner. As in any home buying situation stay engaged and document any issues. The important thing is that they will make it right when something does happen. We love the house and thank the team for the final product.

The experience was pretty painless. Doing the contract with Erica worked very well. Blue was responsive during the build and kept me updated. And Kam was very helpful in helping me with helping me out after moving in. Excellent experience!

I have to start by saying we love our new home. This was a long process from start to finish and there were definitely some ups and downs to our overall experience. Kelsey, Matt, and Shannon represent Khov sales, construction management, and post sale home support and have been great. Throughout the sales process Kelsey was very helpful and keeping us in the know. During the build Matt and Kelsey provided updates on a biweekly basis and even sent us pictures of progress. Post sale home warranty and service ticketing through Shannon has been great. There are some things beyond all of our control (materials delays, appointment delays with trades/trades attention to detail on certain finishes on the house) that can become frustrating, but knowing that we had a strong team to help us get to and through the finish line has been the best part. The Khov team we had was amazing and we are happy with how everything has turned out. My only tip to help alleviate stress in the process is regarding selling your current home. If you need funds from your existing home to purchase your new home...sell it well in advance of your closing date. We did a "simultaneous" close and it was very stressful. HOME CAME INFESTED W ROACHES - NOTED PRIOR TO CLOSE REFUSAL TO REMEDY AND REFUSAL TO COMPENSATE FOR MY PAYMENT OF REMEDY. MY ROOF LEAKED DUE TO A DEFECT AND MY CEILING AND CARPET SOAKED TOOK TWO WEEKS TO FIX THE ROOF PART. MY PANTRY CEILING IS SOFT AND WET SO IS A WALL BY MY SINK

First and foremost, this was a surprise and I didn’t know I would be living in such an amazing dream home. Working with Gene was amazing, he was there for whatever questions, concerns, or if we just wanted to talk, it was worth it all. I would recommend K. HOVNANIAN at a blink of an eye and Jamie was awesome too.

The best way I describe my home to anyone that asks, is I paid half a million dollars for a home made of papier-mâché. Everything in it feels cheap, the longer I live in it, the more cut corners we see in the work that’s been done. The cheapest paint to ever exist was painted on these walls. The railing to our stairs looks like a 2 year old stained it. The person that stained it never covered our carpet or the molding so there’s stain on our carpet that will never come out as well as on the baseboards. The upgraded LVP flooring has so many chips in multiple boards, the list goes on and on. Every neighbor I talk to has the same horror stories. If I could do it all over again I would NEVER buy from khov, I wouldn’t recommend them to even build a dog house. To sum up our experience, the first night in our home, we flushed our upstairs bathroom and it flooded through our downstairs pantry light, and I would’ve expected nothing less. My experience has awesome

We walked into a model home and were blown away. Our guide then took us on a golf cart ride to view what has become our home. We walked into the inlaw suite first it had everything we needed for our father. Then walked into main home and we were viewing a dream that became reality.

Besides the delay in the closing due to the generating power, the overall experience was excellent. The entire K-Hov team was kind, trustworthy, and supportive with professionalism. I really appreciate the business and relationship we went through. Most importantly, we love the house!

This is my 6th home. I have to say Richmond home builders gave me more value for the money. little things like larger entry doors, lights over every shower, trim around every window, blinds included with the purchase. more flexibility with requests. Everyone I worked with was professional and did the function they were assigned. I will say that Karie in the mortgage section spent some quality time with me and i appreciate her for that. The reason my overall rating is not top notch is all but one of the issues that were on the punch list from closing are still not completed. I have spend 6 weeks waiting for the contractors to show up. Schedules and been made for the last 5 weeks and every week no one has showed up. I have spoken with the Warranty section every week with the understanding that i would be contacted back. That did not happen. The last call I made the warranty section gave me the direct numbers so I could the contractors myself. I did spoke with them and was told again that i would be hearing back. Again nothing. Spoke with Carmel she stated that she was going to get in touch with Mike. from warranty . So I am waiting to hear back.. Again. ... More

First we bought the home as we were moving from different state to Ohio and did video walk through and of course the faults of the home were not shown or discussed! Second when I inquired about why there was no deck on the back of the house I was told “we don’t build decks you will have to subcontract that out” However when I arrived to the community I seen decks built on other homes and they’re all exactly the same and clearly built by KHOV and when I inquired why we were not offered that I was told, “ we don’t build them on Spec homes “ if we did it for you you could not move In until January. It does NOT take 5 months to build a deck.! The center island in kitchen shakes as well as Mitch floor due to structural design flaw with no I beam. Also our lawn is not a lawn by any standards and has many wholes and zero good soil and old fill/clay dirt. There are many more issues and I am deciding on course of action to take. ... More

Worst quality of workmanship and after-purchase service

A month and a half after closing, we are still missing a window. Several items covered on walkthrough were never addressed. Some elements of construction did not align with plans (legal?). Several assurances made that did not line up with reality. Sales person was responsive via email but not all statements were backed up with action. Over-priced. Ex. Nicer model home with more high-end features has not sold and the price keeps dropping.

Beautiful homes, great customer service, I love my new house. Highly recommend using K Hovnanian.

From the moment we started the process was super smooth and the finished product is amazing! Alex, Tony, and Crystal were fantastic and prompt to respond to questions throughout and were extremely knowledgeable and professional. My wife and I are extremely thankful for them and for choosing K. Hov. No regrets and we highly recommend!
