- Quality - The quality of the materials used is great, the execution of installation at least in my case, was rushed and therefore substandard. They are still contacting me to finish duct blaster testing (I've been living in my home for 45 days) which should have been completed prior to my move in. They demanded that we close no later than a specific date but they didn't finish construction until just a few days before closing. Only allowing a few days for the walk through to be completed. On top of that they keep hassling you about giving them 5 stars on this rating. Stop asking and earn it. - Value- That being said I believe the value was there, definitely a good purchase. Not 5 stars because of the rushed work and the subsequent work requests I've had to put in and make time for them to fix. - Trustworthiness - 'At least they tell you they're cheap in some areas' Lighting for example, I was told by them that pretty much all of my lights would have to be replaced soon. I expected them to last at least a year. Nope, nearly all of my exterior lights and about 1/3 of my interior lights have either burnt out, dimmed significantly or are flickering. Since they were very upfront about that among other things, they get nearly full points for trustworthiness. Two reasons for 4 stars instead of 5. 1. They demanded earnest money to close by a specific date. No problem. Only that they did not finish building until three days prior to the last day we could close without incurring fees. The walk though and final walk though were just 1 day apart! 2. We were lied to during the selling about gaps on the underside of the fence. Probably just a misunderstanding (I don't think it was malicious) between what sales thinks construction can/will do. - Responsiveness - It's slow. I expect it to be slow. I don't expect a business to prioritize warranty issues. I put in a request to fix a door and it took a week to get a reply. Therefore, a 4 star 'okay' rating. They respond and resolve issues without much fuss but it's not a 5 star response. All that being said, I want to shout out an all-star that they have working for them. Robert. The construction manager has been super honest and very helpful, he was given a nearly impossible timeline and has been working tirelessly to assist us. He alone is why my rating is not significantly lower. If I was just rating him, then I would give him 5 stars all around! ... More

Some of the workmanship was less than par ( Paint & Tile). Some of the promises such as adding more flooring and step up to 2nd level in the attic was never performed. Sloppy concrete on brick, cracked concrete in the garage step. Other than those items were fairly happy with everything.

Overall the experience was great from the salesman to the KHOV account management. The only issue I have is the finishing details were rushed.

This is my first time buying an inventory home. I was sad that since it was fully built I could not go back and add or change out for things I wanted. Over all the home is well build. Builder is responsive to service call within the first month of moving in.

On the sales side Nate was amazing! He was my go to throughout the whole ordeal. If ever there were questions, answered or did whatever in his power to find the answer. My family’s experience with The finance side would be rated 3 stars maybe less. There was a time we went 6 days without hearing anything back. Just because my family and I had a challenging file shouldn’t make us any less worthy of getting responded to in a timely fashion. I will say this. We truly appreciate Melissa for going above and beyond in getting us an approval. She helped to make our dreams come true. Whenever she had questions or a request for us, we got whatever she asked for within hours. On the other hand, when we had questions as far as wanting updates on the process, we’d at times wait anywhere from 24 hours to 72 hours. We were never told “hey you won’t hear from me in a couple days until (whatever reason). We were constantly left guessing. All of this while our lease was it March 1. Open until the week of closing we were in limbo and in the dark about the status of our loan. So you can imagine our frustration when we have to go to the sales rep to ask him to call Melissa for updates at times. What is it is a great person and was never rude to us. I’d say that that communication just needs to be better. John the builder was good and very helpful at the start of the process. I just wish he followed through to make sure everything was complete before we closed on our home. The cleaning person left a card saying the house was clean. That was not the case. We got our keys and opened the door for the first time expecting to see the perfection that John said would be there. The floors had white shoe prints all over it as if workers were doing stuff around the house and they never got back around to cleaning up the floor. This was weeks before the stay at home order. I informed John and he said that he would have someone come bye and clean the house. That never happened. John was very helpful in getting our air ducks looked at when the At&t technician spotted that one was loose. John was always good about responding to our texts within 24hours and that’s appreciated. I just wish there were consistent actions behind the responses (before the stay at home, order). The sheet rock people had us on the schedule but had to push back due to the coronavirus. That’s totally understandable. We have two lights that’s not fully attached to the ceiling and we’re nervous about them falling. We were told that we’d have to wait until the Coronavirus pandemic passes by. I totally get that, but the reason I mention it is because this was pointed out during the first walk through and again at the second walk through. It was suppose to be taken care of before we moved in. Now we’re in fear of the light falling on one of our children. Besides those mishaps that might have been out of John’s hands, we’ve had our overall good experience with you guys. I’m just a strong believer that companies can’t get better unless consumers are honest on these customer reviews. Needless to say, I hope no one gets in trouble behind this, but I hope there’s some type of training or education that comes after this, So that the next customer has nothing but great things to say about the KHavnanian experience. Hopefully those next customers are my in-laws. I talked about the homes so much that now they are interested in buying the house next-door. They are older and not as patient as I am, so I’m hoping these issues are fixed before they decide to buy a home with you guys. ... More

The key to Westwood is Brandi in sales. The weak point in Westwood is Brent in the building process. Brandi sets just a great platform for Khov and tries to maintain the balance and clean up brent’s messes. He needs to be retrained, take a time management class or be able to do what he says he will, when he says, which is few and far in between. Nice guy, but not trustworthy and gives homeowners an uneasy feeling when making the biggest purchase of their life. Please fix the issue and try to resolve at the lowest level. Brandi works too hard in Westwood to be destroyed by Brent’s actions.

The quality of some items in the house can be better. The wood look tile is uneven in some areas, causing our feet to catch. This should have been done right. Overall the home is fair. We do love the floor plan and neighborhood. Just some things in the home that could have been done right and/or better.

The only thing that I did not like about the K.Hovnanian home is the quality of the kitchen cabinets.

We chose KHov because of the layouts and Brandi. She was so helpful with helping us decided on a home and walk us through all the options. We loved how easy she made the process and how informative she was. However, the closing felt rushed and the house we moved into was not the picture perfect home I believed we were signing for. We went through 2 walk throughs with blue tape to point out areas that needed work and yet I am typing this as I stare at some blue tape on a baseboard that still needed work. Christian was very nice about listening to my concerns with the “finished” product but more than a handful of minor issues around the house are still not done. It’s frustrating because each tiny issue alone is not a huge deal but when I go to clean up around the house the sloppy finishes around the trim work, window frames, and kitchen cabinets is such a let down. So although I would not go out of my way to talk negatively about KHov, I would definitely advise friends looking to buy a house to look at all options, ask more questions, and be prepared to delay closing until the house is actually finished. ... The floor plan is great. A lot of details were missed. I’m still seeing paint on the outside of the windows that need scraping. This is one example of missed details. The new home is still surreal and exciting!

I love my new K. Hovnanian home, but there were a few issues that were not resolved. The team the builders hired to build my home were unprofessional and not respectful of my property.

I love the home I bought. It has several things I wanted, but couldn’t find in other homes. An example is the master bathroom and master closet. They are exactly what I was looking for!

My experience has been mixed. During the home buying process we were working with Paul. When we decided to put an offer on our house. He wrote up the purchase agreement and said we would get 10,000 in incentives which includes a buy out of our current lease and two fans in our home. The next day he calls and says I can no longer offer what I promised. I can only offer $7,000 and only one fan. But don’t worry I’ll buy the other fan with my own money. Then it became you have to fill out a survey once you buy the house and give us a high rating then you will get your second fan. When my realtor called him one time with a question. He told her I just came back from vacation I don’t have time to deal with this right now. Josue the builder also made a lot of promises he didn’t keep. One being to lower the shelf in my laundry room because it’s too high. The toilet paper holder in the master bedroom was never put on the wall correctly. I called him to fix it. He came out looked at it and said you are correct but I forgot my tools and I’ll come back tomorrow to fix it. Never saw him again. I love my home but as I am living in it I can tell it was a rushed job to get it done in time for closing. ... More

The process was good. Just be sure to express your concerns and follow through with them. We’re thankful for an amazing realtor and great sales team that helped pull the weight of the construction team.

I love the neighborhood of the home and the customer service was great. Thewas completed as scheduled for closing

Explain clearly the pros and cons of using or not using a realtor, and that once the decision to or not use a realtor is made there is no option to change.

The design of our home and quality compared to other builders is great. However several of the contractors they use don’t take pride in their work and do the bare minimum. They building manager Ismael was quick to respond and always said he would have all the needed contractors out to fix issues on the same day so I didn’t have to keep missing work. However that never happened and there was always excuses which kept causing me to miss more work. Matt got involved and repairs seem to be going better. We also were not made aware of the huge water issues in this neighborhood and were shocked to find that a full water softener/filtration system is absolutely necessary. Disappointed in the quality of the materials used.

I felt like I was neglected by your loan officer Ken then I get pressure to use the builders mortgage company at the last minute. The side of my home has been saturated with mud and standing water before I closed. It has been very disappointing; there is no grass and you have to wear mud boots to walk on side of the home. Peyton has responded very quickly to the number of oversights with the home but has yet to remedy the problem

The purchasing experience with our sales rep. Jessica was great, she went over and above to get answers to questions, etc... Getting our closing documents ahead of time was a disaster, not very prepared. The punch list for the home is still not complete after 3 months. The builders field rep from the Khov tells you what he thinks you want to hear with no follow up. Never writes anything down so I have to send numerous emails, text messages, photos reminding him of the outstanding items, in which very few items have been completed. I'm just very disappointed and frustrated that once the house was purchased it's a continual fight to get warranty items taken care of for the home we purchased. ... More

The salesman was great and attentive as needed, the builder not so much. The work is so sloppy to say the least. Even with the walkthroughs pointing out as much as possible the repairs were also rushed and sloppy. Due to the winter storm my second walk through was the evening before my closing and you could tell the builder was not inclined to fixing all the flaws. We had been living with family for months and were ready to be back in our own space so we closed and I planned to tackle some of the flaws myself; however, DAILY I find more flaws. I love my home itself but the workmanship makes me soo upset every time I find something new. This is not my first home but my first new build and I believe for the price and the home being new the work SHOULD have been way better. Homes are built poor quality and im still having issues getting things fixed after 4 months of living in our brand new home other problems are also coming up but im choosing to fix them myself since its easier then waiting weeks for them to fix things

The initial home buying experience was good. Our salesperson (Lisa) was great. She sent us updates constantly, answered questions (many times on her days off). The financing phase was great too. Jodi was a pleasure to work with and made the process easy. Our issue was the building, multiple issues needing attention and the difficulty in getting them taken care of. We closed on the home (although we should have told them we weren't closing until all issues were resolved) and it took over a month to finally get everything done we were told would be addressed before we closed or (worst case) on the day we closed. It took MANY texts, phone calls and photos of problems to get everything FINALLY taken care of. Lesson learned: If you buy a KHOV home (or any home for that matter) don't close until ALL issues have been resolved. They will definitely be more motivated to take care of you if you are holding up the closing. ... More

Neighborhood is not properly represented when buying the home. The lakes are dry and there is no fountains.. was told that our lot was capable of having a swimming pool. This is not true .. it clearly states on the septic survey in bright red no pool. Even the septic people state they have made you aware of this but the sales person assured us that our lot was cleared for a pool. How can you build homes on a half acre lot .. that can’t have a pool!! No a very good marketing plan.houses look nice but are lacking in quality in craftsmanship and materials used.. Overall a good home/well built but it’s the small details and warranty work that has been absolutely horrible. I’ve been in my house for almost 6 weeks and yet to enjoy it. The tile grout in majority of the house was installed wrong/has a haze to it and they’ve attempted to correct the issue 3 times. They are on there 4 time coming out and hopefully this works. Just be aware of the small details and make sure everything is done before moving in and closing.
