Working with K. Hovanian staff was a living nightmare. I was lied to throughout the entire process. Several people dropped the ball on K. Hovanian’s end which jeopardized my home purchase more than once throughout the process. I was repeatedly given the run around and told things that were false. They made several mistakes in my application and then tried to make me bring extra money to the table. When they gave additional incentives to make up for their mistakes they then continued to throw the incentives they were giving me in my face saying things like”we are bending over backwards to help you”. No, you are bending over backwards because I’m holding you accountable and making you fix the mistakes YOU made and the misinformation K HOVANIAN staff provided. The house itself is beautiful and I love it, but I would not buy from them again and will be sure to tell everyone I know not to. This was not my first home purchase, so I understand the process. It does not have to be as stressful and difficult as K Hov made it. They repeatedly tried to take advantage of me and thankfully my realtor had my back. It’s not worth the stress. I literally lost weight from the stress. Even when closing came, they lied and said I could close on 3 different occasions when the house was not actually complete and move in ready. The salesman I was unfortunately doing business with made used car salesmen look like paragons of virtue and truth. Nothing and I mean NOTHING this conman said was even remotely connected to the truth. Maybe this is what K Hov wants in its sales force to get inventory moved by hook or crook but I can't imagine this type of behavior will not come without severe loss of reputation. This is supposed to be a highlight to one's life but my experience was anything but. If i could have given less than zero on trustworthiness I absolutely would have done so.

We were lie to from the beginning starting with Ronda and George. We have still not gotten things fixed that were noted at inspection and were promised to be fixed. The house wes poorly constructed and no inspection was done.

I would look elsewhere before purchasing a Khovnanian home just head the warning, you will end up being disappointed.. this is not my first build either. Good luck

From the front office starting the process, nor us or our realtor could ever get Jessica to respond on a timely manner whether they were time sensitive questions or not. When she should reply finally, if it was something where she was going to send us documents we would request the file would either be corrupt or it would be weeks till we got it and we wouldn’t hear from her in between. Alan was the only saving grace. He was extremely professional and respectful to me, my wife, and our realtor. Although we did reach out around the one month mark of moving in for him and the contractors to come back out and fix some things that were found post move in and he said he would come the same day if not the next day and he never showed up. ... Very disappointed with the quality of the workmanship as well as the quality of the products being used in the construction. Right now, I have a major issue with 2 bathroom tubs that pop and crack everytime you step in them and the issue still hasn't been resolved going on 2 months now. Very disappointing. Would not recommend this builder to anyone.

Very disappointed in the workmanship of our new home. It is a beautiful home with a beautiful layout but the repairs have been non stop since we moved in making it very hard to enjoy. If they just made sure things were done correct the first time it would make the experience more enjoyable.

Since purchasing the home, I have experienced so many issues. I was told by the contractor (Nomo) to contact him for any issues. He has been extremely slow with responses and completely incompetent in resolving any issue since purchasing the home. There is no communication whatsoever. I have purchased homes from multiple builders and have never been this unsatisfied. The home buying experience has been so bad and I regret buying a home from K. Hovnanian. I have escalated issues to Nomo’s boss, Gary, and it too has resulted in delays with getting important issues resolved. The post purchase support with K. Hovnanian is completely inadequate. Bad company, does poor work and uses cheap materials yet charges alot for their homes, so disappointed I ever bought a home from this company

After leaving military service, my wife and I wanted to move back home to Texas from our last duty stations. We bought a new construction home as a forever home which now we cannot wait to leave. The sales(buying) experience was terrible. This is not our first home so we knew how things should go. K. Hovnanian will pressure you and give you zero time to consider their offers. I wasn't even sure I had a solid job offer (wife got her job first) and the offer they gave us on a Saturday night was only valid through Sunday, I begged them to give me until noon Monday so I could confirm employment. They said no. They will pressure you into their mortgage broker, and ask for all pertinent documents last second. We were on the road traveling from the east coast, we told them weeks ahead of time when we were moving so make sure all the documents were received before then. They called us on the road demanding we give them whatever document or else they couldn't promise we could move in when we agreed. They will also sell your mortgage within a week of your purchase so don't expect to deal with them long term for your mortgage. They also will not be present at closing and will not give the keys to the broker. You will sign for your home and not have access to it until they are available to give you YOUR keys. Then the construction. Every single door in our house has damage on it. Many of them did not sit square before any of the settling occurred. Knicks, cuts, dings in the drywall prior to our move in. Many of the light switches are wired backwards which I will now have to go behind them and fix. The floors were dirty, the whole interior was covered with sawdust, grout dust, and whatever else. Many places on our floor were over grouted, our tiles in the kitchen and bathroom had huge grout gaps and were not set flush. So many things in our house are off square that it is glaringly annoying. When they come to fix issues, they will do it in a way that causes another problem. Example: the office French doors were so far off square the one door did not sit in the other. So they came to fix it. All he did was loosen one screw on the strike plate and lower the plate slightly. Now the door drags the other door when you open or close because the wood contacts the bottom of the plate. But hey, at least it doesn't just push open! K. Hovnanian does not care if the product you receive is worth the money you pay. Our old home was 25 years old when we bought it 11 years ago and it had less issues than this 2023 new construction. I could give you dozens of reasons to stay away from a K. Hovnanian construction, but no one has the time to read a Charles Dickens novel on the internet. We had lots of issues on our house, and they are not taking responsibility to fix the issues, we were promised that it will be fixed after the closing but , not they are telling we need to call the warranty dept. we feel like we were rushed to close it even though lots of issues were not addressed . this is our third home purchase and never had issues like this but I will not recommend anyone to buy the house like this. The finishing is not there, looks like someone rushed to finish the project, if you guys want I can share some valuable pictures which is very disappointing

I was excited to choose K. Hovnanian as a builder for my next home. The reviews received from colleagues and friends were great. However, my experience was not the same. After completing the Inspection, there were over 30 pages of issues ranging in severity of replacing 2 of 3 thermostats, rewiring upstairs due to HVAC system installation issues, builder forgot to order all appliances (microwave and dishwasher) failure to install garbage disposal, loose shingles, and severe cracks in the garage, front porch and back patio, no grout in bathroom tiles causing several to be replaced, failure to install plumbing in master bathroom under sinks, and 2 broken exhaust fans, holes in sheetrock in garage that was taped and painted over. Luckily on the final day of walkthrough while standing in the garage with the builder, the wind blew - exposing the holes. The top railing system became dislodged from the wall while the builder's realtor was walking through the home. After realizing the appliances were on backorder, the builder installed a broken GE dishwasher. Unfortunately, I did not request or pay for a 3rd inspection to ensure the dishwasher was working properly. After discovering the dishwasher was in fact broken, I called the builder who came by and agreed but informed that since it was after closing, I must go through the warranty department at GE. To date, the dishwasher still does not work, and that model is on back order until October 7, 2022. I have a brand-new K, Hovnanian home that is not fully functional. These issues also caused the home to not appraise at the sales price! After sharing my experience with the same colleagues, I learned that the Seasoned Project Managers have moved to a new neighborhood to begin construction. Understanding that everyone does not have the same work ethic or level of standards, has caused me to not recommend K. Hovnanian to anyone and warn all others that its business model is not the same so proceed with caution. ... More

Our home buying experience with KHov has been terrible. We paid over $500k for a home that looks like it was built by amateurs. We expected far more quality for the price paid. Regardless of “spec level”, we paid over $500K for our home. The workmanship and quality is awful. I wish I could rewind time and get my money back. My only hope is that the warranty team will fix it and make it right. Our building managers were completely terrible. Non-responsive and full of lies and excuses. I will never refer anyone I know to KHov. I would not want them to experience what we did. Bottom line, we got screwed! ... More

If you’re looking in a residential development and see a K Hovnanian model just skip it and go to either the competition or to another neighborhood. The quality of workmanship is abysmal. Everyone involved will assure you that your home will be ready for your closing date and then drop the news on you the day before that it won’t be ready but that they will have everything done in a few days. It won’t be ready. It will drag on for weeks and months. The moment they get paid all urgency is gone. You’re no longer a priority. Your home isn’t a priority. The people doing the work are trash. I’m a first time homeowner and this experience has been a big disappointment. I was pressured to close quickly, my concerns were dismissed, and it has been one problem after another-from countertops not being glued down to uneven floors. KHOV only cares about meeting their quota and getting the closings done. They take no pride in the workmanship that is put into the luxury homes they claim to be building. I closed two months ago and the repairs have still not be taken care of. I would never refer someone to buy a KHOV home.

On 9/28/2021 I closed a house in Alvin, TX. During the process, there were a lot of problems with the builder. I have emails where I started to point out details, he told me that I "didn't understand" and that "this is construction." I actually work in the industry, so I do understand. I stopped visiting during the construction of the house because I just got frustrated every time I went due to how dirty, and poorly coordinated it was being built. Before closing, they were supposed to fix the vinyl flooring but the vinyl subcontractor didn't even go, but he told me they did. I have pictures of how all the vinyl flooring is coming out due to poor glue applications, poor coordination, and lack of supervision. They went to "fix it", but a few days later they started coming out again. I requested ALL the vinyl flooring to be replaced. A GC's job is literally to manage risk and supervise, but the builder of my house told me he "couldn't supervise flooring" which is the poorest excuse I've ever heard, you just have to follow the same route they do, look through the windows, put a camera, etc. He constantly told me "remind" him of his own meetings with me. A client should not be reminding a builder of scheduled meetings. I am very unsatisfied, frustrated, and disappointed with myself for choosing K HOV as my builder. It took them like 3 weeks to coordinate a simple flooring issue. When they did fix the flooring they made a complete mess, couldn't even put back the barn doors correctly, screwed up the garage door, and I could keep going. As of 11/5, I haven't been able to move in. I will not be recommending K HOV to anyone, and this is the first and last time I will be building with K. HOV. This was the worst experience I’ve ever encountered. As a homeowner and purchase five homes in the past I have need witnessed such unprecedented behavior from an organization. The communication between the sales person to the financial and builder management. This was a cash purchase and it was if I was being penalize for a cash purchase. For additional information I would love to share just how unprofessional this whole ordeal was.

I should never close on my house before they fixed all the problems that we had with the house. My house looks like s. They put dry grass on it and promised me they’ll replaced. I’d closed on my house and more than 30 days ago and I haven’t moved in they just fixed half way. I’ll get a painter my self to fixed probably. Disappointed is my status

Probably the worst thing about our house is the absolute lack of craftsmanship but, when you sub out to the lowest bidder that is certainly what you get. There are way too many things to list on this review. KHOV uses very cheap materials in there homes one of which is MDF in lieu of pine. One of the worst places you can use this product is on window sills where moisture is very likely to be present year round due to condensation. MDF is notorious for drawing in moisture so in my opinion, a poor substitute for pine. Various examples of poor quality stem from open wood joints in trim molding, stair railing, missing quarter molding around the base of the stairs, several windows sills not rounded in the front, communication wires left hanging on the exterior of the house instead of being placed in an all weather enclosure and having to grade the back yard myself when I was promised a “trunk load” and dirt and give maybe a wheel barrow. I ended having to buy additional dirt to fill in around the utility pedestals and several other areas in the back portion of the lot as they did not drain but merely created large pools of water when it rained. I am very unhappy with my new home. The sales rep Theory H. Was amazing but that’s where it stopped. The KHov design center is a joke. They send you to this big design center with tons of options except none of them are for you! I wanted simple upgrades and was told no we don’t offer that or no you can’t get that so I had to change out things once I closed. There are cheaper builders that offer way more options. The construction manager has not resolved issues that were brought up before closing over a month ago. They cut a strip out of my cabinet and glued it back together which has now come unglued in less than a month. The cabinet company said they would be out to fix it and did not show up on the appointment date. My backyard is a lake and I have told the construction manager multiple times about it and nothing has been done to correct it. Do not use their security company connect one they are misleading l wasted $600 on connections that were not completed as told and they will not fix the issue as they said “ I misunderstood” and it would be an additional $1500 to correct it. My dishwasher also doesn’t work and has standing water when turned on and Getting GE to come out and service it has been nothing but difficult. Customer service is absolutely horrible after closing. I was also not provided with a paint touch up kit and had to beg for weeks just to get an incomplete set. I would not recommend purchasing a KHov home to anyone in my family or friends. ... More
