Construction Supervisor (Dennis) was great!

I am loving my new home! Through the building process, I had a stellar experience with the construction manager and the design center. All of the individuals (2 @ construction and 1@ design) took the time to listen to my questions, find the answers, and make sure I was satisfied with the quality and service I received. While each of those individuals earned 5 stars, I gave just 4 stars overall because of some issues with sales. Though everything was resolved, it was a bit stressful and didn't have to be that way. In addition, leadership should reconsider the current policy of supplying a black refrigerator to everyone--even to those purchasing the gourmet kitchen option. Nick, our construction manager, and Stacey, our sales consultant, have been best parts of this build/move. They both were exceptionally receptive to emails and phone calls and made it possible for us to manage this build from 1100 miles away. It would have been a completely different experience if it wasn't for them, We were disappointed, however, in the materials and workmanship, specifically the painting, done in the house. There were many areas that had poorly painted walls, 'bubbled' texture, and overall sloppiness. Nick corrected all of the issues we had, but he had to even correct their corrections. Our Salesperson Shannon was amazing! Extremely helpful throughout the entire process, addressing my many questions and concerns in a timely manner.

The closing date was rushed. Because on the of the final walk through prior to closing, the house had not been clean. Some of the Deficiencies that were indentified during the gold key walk through had not been addressed by final walk through. I returned after closing, the house was not cleaned and the garage had not been touched.

Nick was spot on with his schedule, of home building time frame

Barbara is easy to work with. Drew and Deb are both extremely knowledgeable about the home building process and are very upfront. We felt informed the entire process.

We were fortunate to find a Hovnanian house already built and ready to move in. We didn't have to play the waiting game. The house is lovely and room sizes are perfect for our needs. The color scheme is workable, and we love the amount of light in the house. We will enjoy making it our own.

Overall, I believe the home buying experience was good. I believe, thus far, that K. Hovnanian is a trustworthy company to do business with. The sales personnel were very good and very responsive to questions and the disbursement of information. We predominantly worked with one particular individual and she was very good and very helpful as we had a lot of questions both before we decided to build and after we had put down a deposit to build. The design center person was also very helpful and informative and was easy to work with. There were some issues that we were a bit disappointed with...we believe that the workmanship that was demonstrated in the models that we viewed, both on site and at another site, was much better than our finished house. There are a lot of finishing issues that we believe could have been much better. As far as the responsiveness to issues, the jury is still out on that one. There have been a few things that have needed to be addressed and they service line has not been all that responsive. In addition, we were supposed to receive a login to be able to report issues to the service center within 30 days of us settling on our home...we have not seen that yet and it has been past the 30 days. ... The buikding process was much faster then we expected from contract signing to close ~ 6 months.

It starts with the Sales Personnel Mrs. Barbera. She was always available whenever we had a question from start to finish even when she wasn't working. That experience was so valuable to us because we never purchased a newly built home. We were told that we can visit at any time during the building process, but make her aware of those times because it may not be safe for us to enter during certain phases of the construction. We really enjoy our home and it is coming together with my wife's fabulous design capabilities.

At the meeting to review your new home a folder giving information about how to care for your new home and warranties would have been appreciated.

We did not know that we had to finish landscaping until we moved in.

The Covid virus outbreak precluded us from having a physical walk through inspection which would have probably taken care of a lot of things we had to discover ourselves. As such I do not blame K. Hovnanian for this. They did the best they can. Drew and Eban were very professional and responsive to questions. I was a little disappointed by the sloppy way the fire box in the fireplace was installed crooked. I'm still waiting for that to be corrected. My biggest concern is the sod lawn. It's the most lumpy, poorly laid sod I've ever seen to the point it is dangerous to walk across without fear of twisting your ankle. It's full of clover and large gaps. It will hopefully fill in eventually, but the sod in the models looks great. ... More

Every one I deal with during the building process were always very knowledgeable and courtesy. I am very happy with the workmanship and quality of the home.

We are extremely pleased with the finishing of our new home. Patience is certainly needed when dealing with a brand new community. Living with the noise, mess and inconvenience of heavy machinery operating continuously takes all our patience. It would be nice to receive some kind of weekly update notification. Communication is vital and keeps our impatience in check. We were unprepared not being able to access any of our yard while the grading continues but like seeing the progress.

KHov is very responsive to any issues you may have and keeps you informed during the building process.

Landscaping I think you could do a lot better for the money that I paid the front yard is very sad

There were things in the process that were very good and other things that could be improved upon. 1. Mike is a good sales rep for KHov. He was always accessible. Got back quickly with answers to my questions. He was very helpful when I asked for his opinion on my areas of concerns. Plus he has a great personality to deal with all people he meets. 2. My design person was great. She helped me a great deal in choosing things that matched my wishes and budget. She even scheduled me for a pre-consultation meeting to answer some questions that I had already. I thought if I got my answers ahead of time the design meeting for options would go much more smoothly and they did. 3. Brent my builder was the best. Customer service, quality, responsiveness, great with people were better than I was expecting. Don't lose Brent. 4. Closing went well. Improvement in the Process should include the following: 1. A preliminary consultation at the design center should be promoted. Honestly, if I didn't have the preliminary meeting with Meghan I might have walked away. I needed to see the products and visualize the choices and 1 meeting would not make it for me. Since I'm across country I wouldn't want to make a lot of trips. 2. Multiple items needed repair after move in. Master bedroom vent fan was not even hooked up to an electrical source. This was missed during the first walkthrough inspection. Repair contractors are not available to come in to conduct repair during weekend. My husband and I had to take a couple of days off work to meet their schedule. I was told by the repair facilitator that the contractors would call in first prior to showing up to my house but none of the 3 contractors ever called. We love our new neighborhood and the amenities it offers. We are disappointed with how inflexible the builder was. For example, I wanted a floor plan so plan ahead of time where furniture should go, but we could not get anything but a single sheet of paper. A minimum by code of outlets provided. After we moved in we paid a carpenter to move the microwave and oven down so that a normal sized person wouldn't get burned taking hot food out of the microwave. In the master bathroom, we paid for a cabinet and drawers to be retrofitted whereas it would have made more sense for the builder to install the same cabinet during the build. ... More

These questionnaires should really come to a buyer after a year of time has passed. Anyway, have had problems with HVAC where after numerous attempts by the original installation contractor, I have had to hire an outside contractor to fix and pay for. Some minor window issues that took longer than it should have to fix. Like the house thus far as well as the community.

The sales office was very helpful on buying process. The quality of bathroom equipment and accessories can be improved. Overall speaking, I like high ceiling and open concept design. However, my backyard patio is too close to my neighbor’s patio. Builder should plant more trees in my backyard as they promised.

Cliff out site manager was a pleasure to deal with. His knowledge and diligence in building our home exceeding our expectations.
