Building a home is a stressful situation. If I am to describe our experience I would have to say it was lacking in many areas. The sales group was wonderful. The building portion was the worst I have seen. The craftsmen ship that was allowed to occur was horrendous. The after the sale care has been good. It is hard to keep tabs when contractors don't show up for their appointment to fix shoddy work.

We looked at many 55+ communities in our price range and found this to be the best value by far. The sales staff was very attentive (not a surprise) as was the construction team that followed up on everything after we moved in (big surprise!) Very happy with our choice!

Disappointed with the details for price paid

From Sales, to Design , to the Builder Foreman, I had excellent cooperation and a true desire to answer any questions or resolve issues. They worked as a team and delivered a great product. I am very pleased with the home.

Prior to moving in things went well. Once we moved in there were several issues that needed to be addressed and it took a while to get them done. We are still trying to get some things fixed almost three months after moving in. We call Frank regularly and he tells us he will get back to us by end of day, but he never does. When we contact him he does not have answers to our questions and does not seem to be trying to get them.

This being my 3rd home purchase I can only describe this as one of the most horrible experience. There are no words to really describe the process and hopefully this home builder makes some changes to their workmanship, delivery and response to requests.

There were several major issues that my wife an I encountered during the home buying experience. The first involved getting a mortgage, where we clearly were not treated as home buyers. It was made clear that our mortgage would be immediately sold upon closing and what was important was the fitting into the cells on a spreadsheet. We came from Canada and have a home that we are selling, but any Canadian assets were not recognized. I am a dual citizen and spent the majority of my life living and working in the US. My credit score is about as high as you can get, I have never missed a mortgage payment in my life, made a large down payment and have $1 million equity in my Canadian home and a healthy retirement account. There were several blatant discrimination actions on the part of the builders so called mortgage company; national origin, age and gender. During this nine month ordeal, I did not receive final mortgage until two days before closing. This was an extremely stressful time, that took its toll emotionally and physically. As part of our package we purchased a pool option. We have been in the home for three months and only a few days ago our pool was totally functional. On the other hand we love the house, we had outstanding service from our salesperson, design person and a major shutout to our construction manager (clearly a true asset to the company). We are disappointed with the major internal partisanship and politics within the community. As much as we love the product, getting to this point made this one of the most stressful years of my life. Unfortunately my experience has been less than enjoyable. Our home was over 6 months beyond completion date when we finally closed. We closed on our home mid October. It is now early December and they still have not repaired the problem issues from the check list. Defective floor tiles were installed even though the surface had quite obvious flaws, shower door in guest bath not sealed, water runs all over the floor, shower head in master bath is aimed directly at the door so water splashes out around the door opening, cement floor in garage was "pocked" in several areas from nailing boards together, house was filthy with spider webs in the ceilings, glue all over windows that was never cleaned. No communication, when we do get promises to fix problems nothing happens. Unfortunately we are going to have to seek legal actions to get our home corrected. ... More

Great sales decor constuction project manager

The buying experience is all about them, not you. You have to be your own advocate. Design choices were beyond slim. Trades who worked on the 55+ community home not highly skilled and very little pride in workmanship. KHOV was responsive to fix issues but only the ones they agree need fixing. Hire inspectors, and stay on them. It does eventually get done. If you go into it knowing you will have to re-do things (paint and lighting especially) and you will get only the basics in electrical and fixtures you can’t or don’t upgrade) you won’t be disappointed. Our upgraded kitchen is beyond fantastic. Soft close cabinets and drawers, pull out drawers in every lower cabinet, farm sink, very nice! And can’t beat the plot of land. Beautiful view. I purchased a new home in a demanding market, and had been taught to expect little and get less. I was pleasantly surprised by the design, attention to detail, and features in the home, particularly design.

The experience that we have had so far has been unsatisfactory in my opinion. We closed on the new home over a month ago with outstanding issues that are to be taken care of by KHov. To this point in time they are still outstanding. Quality of products used are average at best.

Should inform clear don’t wait until last time

Just about everything in the house was done poorly with no attention to detail. They slap the houses together as fast and cheaply as they can. Floor is out of level, horrible drywall work, voids in the concrete, things out of square, cheap materials and building practices used and on top of that the house was dirty when delivered to us. Very disappointed in our experience.

Project manger James was excellent. Very responsive and helpful at every phase. Trades such as painter and cleaning crew are less than desirable. Painter never cleaned walls or fixed dry wall prior to painting. This caused a lot of touch up and repaints to happen. Which lead to lots of paint splatter on every floor which was left for home owners to clean up. Doors and trim were never cleaned. Trim work is very sloppy - mismatched corners nail holes not filled.

Sales person should be more knowledgeable of product and details of options. Follow up was slow getting answers after we signed agreement. Overall very pleasant and open to help with our needs just seemed that she needed more knowledge about how options effect base build. Superintendent changes and transitions have made for a frustrating first month to get items addressed. I'm in the construction industry and recognize the challenge with the craft worker. You have a great community coming together but I believe the quality of product and communication is hurting your ability to fill community faster ... More

Overall had a good experience with the building process. Issues that needed to be address were taken care of quickly.

So glad I made the move. It was time for a fresh start so I figured I better buy a brand new home with all the amenities. I am very happy here. The staff is very friendly and reliable.

I was happy with the original sales people like Stacy and the way options were explained to me at the design center. My project manager was very helpful and communicated every week. He forwarned me of potential delays and moving in was delayed 2 months. I was disappointed in that but not in the house or fixing things that needed to be done before, and after I moved in. My PM was great at answering my questions, even ones I asked more than once.

It would help new home buyers to be able to talk to some of the other people that bought a similar house and ask if they were to build again what would they do differently. Working with Nick and Stacy made this easy. They were extremely helpful and responsive The experience went without a hitch except for small supply chain issues which are out of your control

Did not have a satisfactory experience.

The KHOV support staff was outstanding. Sales - Diana, Construction - Sean, Repairs - Alissa. All exceeded our expectations for professionalism, transparency, and customer service.

Our home cost over half million dollars and you would think you would have a new walk-in home with no issues. This is not the case with KHovnanian Homes. We were pushed back a week on settlement so builder could get all things complete. A week before closing did a walk through and was told all the items would be complete before closing. This proved wrong and now a month after closing we are told all the subs would be here to complete the punch list items. Some of the punch list items include the sod. They have replaced sod three times and still have gaps between pieces of sod and these gaps can be 4 to 6 inches. Very slopping workmanship. If you would come to this community and see what is happening throughout neighborhood. Floors have high spots and even a low spot near entry. Again, this is a sign of poor workmanship and lack of follow-up making sure it is installed properly. We had trim not installed and have waited a month for them to come and patch holes and paint. There are other issues but will not list only wait to see if corrected. One of the things that is most upsetting is having to push out settlement and closing. We had to reschedule delivery of PODS and reschedule moving people. Each was an additional cost to us. I know I told John (our construction guy) I would give a favorable review if everything was complete. Still waiting on everything to be complete and some of the items (Lawn) is still in need of repair. You would think for a half million-dollar home they would want a good-looking lawn to help with the sale of new homes. ... More

Our home was not complete on the day we closed. A couple of examples include the microwave was crushed and did not work. There was no glass installed for the shower, the toilet in the master bath was completely cracked and half the vanities in both bathrooms had rust stains on them that were not able to come out. The painting was atrocious every room everywhere needs to be repainted. the trim had huge gouges out of it. This house was not ready for closing since we moved in. It is constant repair and warranty work. This has not been a pleasant experience and has taken the joy out of purchasing our home. ... More
