For a brand new build it has a lot to be desired of wherever the builder could cut corners they did. It's the first time I had to put $30,000 our of mt own pocket to fix what the builder didn't do properly. One huge selling point was buyer owned solar by Sunnova unfortunately that company has announced it will not be able to go on as a going concern and will be filing bankruptcy. We were sold a 25 warranty on these solar panels we have no idea who will service them now. The HVAC system is cheap, the bathroom fixtures are cheap plastic there are too many things to go into here. Save yourself time money and aggravation buy preowned and stay away from KHOV. ... More

When purchasing a brand new home, do not assume everything will be perfect just because it’s new!! Do not assume everything works like it’s supposed to work. When you do your walk-through to see if their are any issues, take all the time you need to thoroughly, in great detail, to check out everything. Flush toilets, run the water in every sink to make sure you have hot water, try the air conditioner/heat system, open and close drawers, try the garbage disposal, check the overall workmanship of windows, flooring, etc. Talk to neighbors that moved in before you to get their input on their experiences when they moved in, their input is very valuable to you as you may experience some of the same issues or you may learn something you didn’t think of considering would be an issue. Example: Paint spatter all over the floor is something you may not see until you start cleaning your floors. We experienced this issue and it’s not an easy or quick fix! Also, ask about how the solar works, what kind of water is in the area, does our new home require a water softener system which is very costly. What type of internet/tv options are available in the area. Overall, just don’t assume everything will be perfect simply because it’s a new home! ... More

Lost opportunity on a property. We were a buyer and ready to go to contract. Sales person didn't profit from this by not advising of all possible properties - build, ready-to-move-in homes. Discussion of these options left us "un-informed". Sales people should access their client and act accordingly. Know what your client wants, needs and can be worked with.

While product design is nice, it falls short on practical usability. Example: Office door top lock requires a human who is at least 7 feet tall.

Homebuying process was OK. Quality of some material is ok, some not so great. Quality of workmanship is lacking in most all areas. Electrical work is suspect. We have had 2 calls to fix electric issue with dishwasher/disposal problem and still not fixed. The outlet for the dining table light is so far off center from the table it is completely unusable. Just thrown up with no worry about the correct location - just stick it up and call it good. Paint and trim work third rate. Low bid blinds not made for the window length. I realize this is not a custom built house, but more care should be taken to get it right. Quality is not a term to be used for the product being provided. ... More

Our purchase experience with KHOV was great. Since then, we've struggled with getting warranty work completed and completed with quality. The subcontractor work was not high quality. Interior painting was terrible, many spots just primed and not painted from ceiling to walls, bathrooms, etc. Warranty work after the fact with painting and patch work has been poor. Our air conditioner has been worked on three times for faulty parts including putting in 4-1/2 lbs of refrigerant. The thermostats were wired to the wrong sensors causing the A/C to run constantly and only one room cooled down. The glass shower door was cut-in wrong, wrong hardware and then when they tried to fix it, the door shattered requiring them to order a new one and install. Seems like small stuff, but when you buy a new home you expect a quality of workmanship. We did not get that. ... More

Warranty service is sketchy so far. I have additional warranty issues but I am reluctant to report.

KHov does not stand by its product, homes. Their service orientation is zero and is more aligned with avoiding work. They are incompetent, lazy and in some instances outright lacking in truthfulness. They cannot be trusted and have no interest in the customer let alone doing what is right. Brian is especially bad and passes you to others with no sincerity. Really lazy and incompetent.

Not a lot of clarification during sales process. Final inspection much too quick with many questions and concerns left unanswered.

They are OK. The best thing about this development is that it is on the water. Also, the Chester House is beautiful and has pools, game room, indoor and outdoor sitting with views of the Bay.

Builder's representative was not thorough or helpful and promises made were not kept. Overall quality of workmanship is below average at best.

Our project manager has been tremendous and very responsive, which has been good, but we have had SO many issues that stem from poor workmanship and materials. Our "upgraded" kitchen cabinets are flimsy at best and the quartz is extremely poor quality, but we're stuck with them. We've had a foundation leak, a plumbing issue that led to a flood and mold in the basement, improperly finished ceiling tape/mud which led to our ceilings having to be completely redone, a broken garage door, dishwasher, and fireplace. In addition, the caulking throughout the house is inferior and we have a lot of squeaky floor joists. All this and we haven't lived here for 3 months yet. We have bought four new construction houses and this one, BY FAR, is the most poorly constructed. That said, the builder has built a wonderful neighborhood that we love and a good floorplan. If we would have known what we know now, we would have gotten standard everything and then hired contractors to put in a kitchen, floors, and bathrooms. ... More

While the homes are beautiful the workmanship is subpar. Make sure you get an independent pre drywall and pre settlement inspection. Money well spent to ensure issues are documented.

I have never been contacted after i placed a reminder ticket! I just want what i paid for and was promised multiple times.

Found all employees were not very responsive to my request, questions and helpfulness in resolving problems

When I purchased my home I had an issue with the kitchen countertop and a couple of things that we paid for that they didn't install. A month after close they did replace the countertop, but on the install of the new one I pointed out some defects. They sent someone from the manufacturer out to look at the defects in the countertop and 3 months later we are still waiting to hear back. After moving in I noticed all my neighbors had garage door keypads on the outside of their house and I did not. I called the builder and he said I needed to get in touch with warranty. I called the 1-800 number and within a few days Jeff called me and told me my home didn't get that option. I said it was hard to believe when all my neighbors had one and I didn't. He replied that we didn't pay for that option when we built the house. I reached out to the salesmen and got a hold of the build sheet which showed I paid for the garage keypad and a couple more items we did not receive. I called Jeff back and told him the situation which he insisted I email him the build sheet. After a couple days of not hearing nothing from him I texted him wanted to know the status of the garage keypad and he replied back that he could have someone out there Monday afternoon at 1pm. I came home early from work to be their when they arrived and the keypad was installed, but not programed. I waited for the installer to show back up at the appointment time, but nothing. I reached out to Jeff asking him why I am waiting for the installer when we had an appointment and he told me they were in the neighborhood this morning and installed the keypad and it was my responsibility to program it. I took off work when they could of called and cancelled the appointment, but I was never notified by Jeff on the situation. Another item we paid for and did not receive are the shutters for the front window of the house. On the build sheet it shows me a color of the shutters that we are supposed to have and Jeff keeps telling me my home does not receive them. I explained to Jeff that on the build sheet it would show none next to the items that we do not get, but the shutters list a color so we should have shutters. I even went to two of my neighbors and they have a color next to the shutters on build sheet and their shutters are on order from warranty. Dealing with the warranty department is very stressful!! I still have a flood light that we paid for and it was never installed as well and nothing will ever get done unless you keep calling them. ... More

The buying experience was professional. The overall quality of the build and workmanship was below standards. Disappointing. I would not recommend K.Hov to friends or family. I paid for a custom home and have had a number of issues. I feel like I have a factory built home.

HOA is dis-organized. K. Hov does not have quality control personnel to inspect home construction before each home is delivered to its buyer. K. Hov expects homeowners to be thoroughly familiar with technology (appliances, internet, wifi, security and etc.) used in their home, K. Hov's use of third -party contractors and subcontractors could benefit from closer supervision.

There have been over a dozen work orders filed to repair faulty/hasty installation. Some issues take on a life of their own and go on and on waiting for final results.

Our sales person Dylan was great to work with and helped solve some issues during construction. We had an unlevel fire place from concrete floor not being level, sheetrock separating, faulty fire alarm, and metal siding buckled. So far KHOV has been responsive to our issues. KHOV needs to do a better job of overseeing the construction and use better quality of materials. It's a great neighborhood but quality of house doesn't match the price paid.

Unfortunately we have been very disappointed with the workmanship on our new home. Many sloppy finishes that we are now paying out of pocket to fix as warranty work was just as sloppy as the original finishes. We love the area and neighborhood but the move in experience has been painful.

We went looking for a 55+ gated community in Solano County and found Khovnanian Four Seasons at Homestead. After placing our $5,000.00 deposit, our initial sales representative was "reassigned" to another new community. During the lending process, our primary loan services manager was "no longer" with the company. After we had closed on our home and moved in, our service manager and her assistant was also no longer with the company due to a mass layoff. In short, there was too much turnover and inconsistency, resulting in developing a poor working relationship and inadequate response to home repair issues. Since we purchased a new home in a new gated community, there are no amenities or community center available, yet we are being charged $192.00 a month for Homeowner Association dues.Other buyers had their HOA waived as part of their buying incentives. The worst part of the whole buying process is dealing with the Home owners Association. These people have too much power in this gated community and reserve the right to dictate what home improvements you can do to your home. Initially, I had contacted them by email and just asked questions about having a concrete patio and walkway installed. They opened up a file based on my email questions, and when I didn't provide any further information, they closed the file and sent me a denial letter. I didn't provide any further information because I didn't ask for any bids from any contractors. I again submitted an email to them asking about my denial letter, and again they sent me a denial letter. The third time, I submitted a Request for Architectural Review complete with diagrams, pictures and a proposed bid, and again I was turned down because the Committee felt that my simple design did not comply with City ordinances. I contacted the City of Dixon planners department, sent them an email that I had received from the HOA, along with my Request for Architecture Review. The planner did not see any issues except for building a storage shed within three feet away from the fence. I sent a copy of his findings back to the HOA and resubmitted my Request for Architecture Review, but was promptly denied by the administration person. She then sent me a response email and stated that my finding from the City were in her "SPAM" folder. She then sent my Request to the HOA board for their approval. The HOA finally accepted my Request for Architecture Review, but under certain restrictions that I follow the rules outlined by the City of Dixon, which I had intended to do all along. Needless to say, I am not impressed with the buying experience. There were minor repairs such as the noisy humidifiers in both the master and second guest bathroom constantly running 24-7, (finally the humidifier was replaced on April 6, 2023), the backyard patio is already cracked after only four months ( the service manager says that is normal ), the patio screen door didn't lock properly (fixed), the heating /air conditioning didn't work correctly (no heat in the second bedroom, supposedly fixed, but it is still cold in there, probably because there is no insulation in the ceiling /walls, and other issues such as a loose faucet spigot in the kitchen, damaged header board above the garage door, and improperly secured roof tiles have been addressed and fixed. What is still not addressed is the issue of the construction workers who were building the house next door to me on lot #198 had sprayed cement on my back door and the right side of my house. The cement is already dried and looks ugly, but the service manager says that this issue is closed and no further action will be taken because it is not a home warranty issue. We did not spend over $600,000.00 for a new house with sprayed on cement on it, only to be told that they are not going to fix it. At this point in time, I cannot recommend that anyone purchase a home in this community. There is too much turnover of personnel, lack of responsiveness, poor quality of workmanship and no accountability. Furthermore, the HOA really needs to be looked at - we are paying dues and $100.00 processing fees for services that are not even being provided. Most of my new neighbors in my community (and we have met everyone) agree that the HOA is not responding to phone calls or emails in a timely manner. We all want to know what does the $100.00 processing fee goes to, since we have to do all of the coordination of getting the vendors, contacting the city, etc. I certainly hope that Mr. KHOVNANIAN gets a chance to read my comments. I heard that he was not too happy when our community center didn't have an official ground breaking ceremony, so there is a lot of other things that he probably us not aware of such as speeding construction workers going up and down my street. ... Everything was great on the front end. Sales and design staff very responsive and helpful and continue to be even after we moved in. Wish I could say the same for construction staff. We still have many open items from closing punch list with no follow up. They are not very communicative with us or the trades who show up unscheduled without materials needed to fix any issues. While everyone has been very pleasant to work with, nothing is getting done.

The builder representatives doesn't honor their word. Made promises to return to address issues then stopped coming around. The quality of work done by certain contractors is very poor, i.e., the garage door installation. The company refused to admit that their work was not to standard, therefore, the issues were not corrected. The city inspectors seemed to overlook a lot of quality issues. I would not recommend this builder to anyone based on the people that represent them and the contractors that they hire.

House was not ready but we were rushed to close with false promises. After closing we had to wait two months for missing kitchen cabinets to be installed. The bathroom mirror over one sink was measured wrong and has not been corrected despite several requests. Over 12 windows have deep scratches. The exterior paint is peeling away because the stucco was not primed. The drywall in several areas was poorly installed. The list goes on but it is upsetting to write.
