Good overall experience

I have had a great experience so far.

Overall I have been pleased but there were a few things I can also take part responsibility for by not asking more questions. First item I was surprised by was the standard 2X4 stud walls. I assumed and did not realize this wasn't a state/county/city requirement to have 2X6 walls where concern for high energy use during our hot AZ summers would be paramount. I understand the concept of the airtight home to keep energy costs down but the added R factor of the 2X6 wall seems like a must have. Second, a water softener loop should be standard in an Arizona home. The highly chlorinated and harsh city water systems in AZ require softeners. As a result I incurred notable extra expense to add later and have unsightly drain tubes on my garage walls along with a spigot in the back yard that now gets softened water that could have been avoided with a loop. The cost of materials and labor to put in a copper loop and run a plastic tube in the walls can't be enough to require making this an upgraded option. Lastly I wish it would have been made clear to me that my house wall would be the neighbors fence. I incurred notable extra expense running drip system around front of the house since I would not be able to perform maintenance on them since they'd be running through the neighbors yard and at some point in the future when painting, roofing and or general repair is required on east side of home I will have to invade the neighbors yard and get their permission to do so. There is ample space to put a wall in place and for the neighbor to still have a yard bigger than the one I have and then give me access to maintain the east side of the property without disturbing them. Subdivision felt rushed and lacked attention to details

Home had two issues that should have been identified and addressed during quality checks. Very disappointing. Issues have since been addressed but it took quite some time. Water was not turned back on to dishwasher after installation causing motor damage and changing a lightbulb led to power outage in two rooms, one of which a bathroom and the other a home office. Electrical company used by KB is not reputable, professional or timely.

im enjoying the new home, hope it will with stand the test of time. during the build i feel like i had to be the one to catch issue that come up along the way. two key points being that an extra window was installed that my wife noticed,and we got that fixed at framing but, the other issue i noticed was after the stucco was done. a second window was 3 feet off 3 feet come on. the super on the job at the time gave me the option to leave it or move it. well we had to move or it would have taking away from the great room. after the window was moved the inside drywall patch came out fine but, the out side stucco patch was horrible didn't match the rest of the house and was bulge out. from what i have heard that this was the second tome that it was redone and it need to be redone again. the third time to over look the patch now on the final walk though and with the sale of my other house going through i feel that i had no choice but except how it looked. i will say that it looked better that the second pass but, the bulge is still there. visit your new build weekly take notes and measurements and come pair them to your lay out. ... The overall house is great, we have a better than quoted SEER rating, but the toilet seat won't stay up. The hinges squeak on the pantry door. It is the little things that need attention. The KB Home crew has done an impressive job in correcting all the little detail items that have shown up in our first 30 days, if the subs would have done things correctly on the first go around there would be a 5 star rating up top.

From experience, the quality of some materials for this home are not on the same level as used to build my previous home. For example, the toilet seats are cheap plastic not quality materials, shower door assembly in master bedroom, walls leave scuff marks rather quickly, cracks in shower floor. Entry door from outside was improperly installed. The doors are not solid wood, but hollow pressed wood and not as secure. However, all issues were corrected when reported to KB representative, thus far.

Nice homes, limited parking

Very nice community and great location. We have a nice floor plan and very happy with our new house.

The home itself is beautiful and the contractor staff was very helpful throughout the process.

I know these are cookie cutter homes that are thrown together in less than a few months and I understand things won't be perfect but for the price I paid for the house I would argue the craftsmanship should've been better. Other than that I'm happy to be an homeowner!

Other than not standing behind fixing defects, the homeowner has found one another license. Tradesman came in to perform upgrades to the home and found a defect. KB said the tradesman caused the problem. They never make mistakes

The overall experience purchasing the home was great. Anthony are super and Michelle are sales Rep were amazing. The problem I have is with the length of time it takes to have the warranty rep get our 10 day warranty. It has now been two months and all the problems have not been taken care of.

Although the KB Home was what we had asked for, the house came with various repairs that were brought up prior to the house being placed in our hands. Issues were brought up and never repaired. A home inspector corroborated issues as necessary to fix. The issues are now a part of warranty which means moving and living around people in the house that was supposed to be ready to be a home. The buying and design process was great. The construction less so. That said, few major issues except for feeling ignored and marginalized concerns.

From the start we had a great experience with sales. We were able to select the lot, elevation and design options we wanted. The design studio was incredibly meticulous and that was our favorite part of the process. The experience took a turn later in the timeline with the building team. We had the incorrect LVP installed throughout our home which delayed our closing date. A wavy drywall in our great room. Our front door paint was botched, thankfully corrected within warranty window. However, now we face another challenge with getting inspection report items addressed. We understand this is not a custom home process however, the quality and standard should still be a priority for KB home. Highly suggest to visit home at least twice a week to ensure all selections are completed correctly. ... More

Pretty good home buying process. Adhered to schedule pretty well with no major issues.

Just know what materials are being used in kitchen, cabinets, roofing underlayment. They are builders and may have a great home, or just an average home. It depends on what was picked for the build.

Overall, the buying experience was pretty good. The salesperson was great and we got lucky with a good (but busy) construction manager. Timeliness to fix issues is decent for the most part (except the big projects and contracted companies like windows/cabinets). Still waiting on a lot to get finished and do feel like nothing from the New Home Orientation Walkthrough was actually addressed for the final walkthrough (just couldn't delay closing so needed to accept it as is-terrible position to put people in). Still unhappy about my driveway which had large cracks on every pad except the one they had already replaced and doesn't match - my driveway within the first month on my new build $400k home looks like Frankenstein and is such a huge eyesore, only thing I absolutely HATE about this house. The walls are THIN, like drywall anchors just go straight through so good luck hanging anything unless you're lucky enough to find a stud. I was told they're 16", but have found most are 24"-28" unless it's an exterior wall & definitely not thrilled about that. The rounded corners buckle as soon as they're barely hit, so be VERY careful even touching them. They are an extremely thin material. Corners get hit the most so for these to be so flimsy is kind of crazy, and I can't believe what they use is even acceptable on a build. On the good side, we looked at a LOT of homes, both new and previously owned, and KB Home hands down has the best floorplans. Like there's no comparison. All the new build homes are too close together so can't judge them on that, but also they're SUPER close together. The build itself needs work, and better quality materials. All the new home spec-type builders build this way and it's unfortunate that they're allowed to use such cheap materials and still charge an arm & a leg for a home. Sales team and finance department were great, buying process itself was great, construction manager has been great (definitely a huge plus to have one that actually seems to care to very, very thankful for that). I do think KB has better quality homes than the other new home builders in this area so overall I am happy about most of it! ... More

Some issues was not resolved before we move to the house specially the cleaning of the house. The person In charge did not do his best to resolve the problem.

Jacquie in the sales office was great. She took the bull by the horns on everything from pricing to touch up after the sale to make sure we were taken care of.

House is nice and energy efficient, but material used is below par. All interior doors needs re-adjustment. Overall, newer house is not built like how they used to.

We wish we could give 5 stars across the board, but in good conscience, we can not. So many minor flaws because the build process was rushed to meet a deadline. We sure reported at 10 and 30 days still aren’t resolved. Sloppy craftsmanship on concrete work, with un-smooth areas, chunks missing, materials sticking up and out of concrete. Walls have so many areas paint is missing, scrapes from tools to apply texture, Covid moneyed areas larger than 10” missed. Grout slipped all over floorboards in every single room. Caulking forgotten on bathroom mirrors. Most doors would not latch shut. Sloppy stucco work on the front of the house. Chipped tiles. Cracked grout. Sloppy grout work at particularly at corners and edges where tiles weren’t cut correctly and excess grout was put in to hide money stakes; leaving thicker grout lines next to neighboring lines. We love our home and the design options we chose, but wish someone would have explained consequences of not choosing certain things, and that didn’t happen. We just wish the follow through with minor problems would’ve been taken care of, instead we are feeling ignored because everyone is busy at the new development areas. The only saving grace for our build experience is that Robert and Thomas have been very kind, honest, and understanding about any questions and/or complaints. ... More
