KB Home - As owners we have had to deal with numerous issues, from paint

As owners we have had to deal with numerous issues, from paint , drywall, cabinetry, hardware, and electrical. It has taken a lot longer than we think it should have to resolve these issues. We're also lucky that we have somebody in the house to be there for all of these various appointments that have had to be made to take care of these issues. If not, either my wife or I would have missed quite a bit of work to be at the house.

Material information left out/misleading from KB home

Material information was left out. After I took the keys, a few weeks later I had a qualified plumber and a selected electrician look at the work. The electrician questioned why my circuit breakers tripped off every other day, as soon as I plug my electric car into the 110 the breaker trips. The plumber didn’t understand why the drainage pipe for the air conditioner is above the 3rd FL bathroom on the room, since no other house nearby has this pipe sticking out. Also because the AC unit is on the side year on 1st floor ground. When I asked the asst super if KB hime he told me “every ...

Everything is an upgrade! (even the garage door opener)

I initially enjoyed working with the KB people. What I want other homebuyers to know is almost all the basic things that should be included with the home is an upgrade (meaning more money)! Was told that I had an extra 28,000 for additional upgrades.I was mislead & couldn't get the patio that I really wanted so badly!

Beautiful house but lack of detail

  • Anonymous

Our house is beautiful and we love it, however, there were a lot of issues with the small details of our home - very poor quality of work. The toilet paper holders would not hold a roll of toilet paper, the slider door had gouges and scrape marks, the garage door was extremely sounded like it was going to fall off the hinges. The list goes on and on. This is a brand new home and to have so many issues upon move in was quite disappointing. It sure was upsetting to have so many issues in a brand new home that we paid a lot of money for.

KB Home responded:
Hello, thank you for your feedback. We are sorry for any frustration with your home, please e-mail CustomerRelations@kbhome.com, and we will put you in touch with a KB Home division manager to assist with these matters. –Brian

It was an okay experience but I'm happy to have a brand new house in LA

I bought a new construction home from KB Homes and I have mixed feelings about it. On the positive side, the staff at the office was pleasant to work with and they tried their best to accommodate my needs. The rates were high, but that’s the market and I don’t blame KB for that. I did have some issues during underwriting, but they were not KB’s fault. On the negative side, I was disappointed with the standard items included in the home. They did not match the price I paid for the home and I felt like I was getting a low-quality product. I think KB should have included more features in the ...

Great finance team and realtor, awful construction group

My experience with KB was pretty great until closing came. First they picked a day for the final walkthrough and did not give me an option. I was told to show up at this time to inspect before closing. When I got there the house was in totally disarray and not close to being finished. Construction manager said he would have it move in ready within the next 5 days. I showed up 7 days later work that was agreed upon was not finished and Moore damage had been done due to trying to finish quickly. Overall I had to go back and forth four times each time was better but not what was promised. I ...

Upgrades

  • Leland B.
  • Verified HomeBuyer
  • August 15, 2019

Choose your upgrades carefully, they can really raise the price of your new home! Make sure to get the wiring for fans, better value at the time of building than later! The granite in the kitchen is of a lower grade, and stains very easily, also was not sealed at the time of move in! Still stains even after being sealed! This might be a good upgrade at the time of purchase! Faucets in kitchen and bathrooms are lower grade, but those can be upgraded at a later date!

Model homes looked great, but after moving into the actual home, I realized the quality of KB Home is not top notch. You can tell people who painted and did the construction didn’t pay attention to details. You can hear impact noise from your next door neighbor. KB Home’s frontline employees (sales, superintendent) are great, but sr. leadership must drive quality for the whole company so it can trickle down.

KB Homes throughout the sales and construction process is a good partner, however, once our home was delivered with a number of issues we have been unable to get any resolution from KB. They sold us the home in a manner inconsistent with how it was sold and then disappeared. Quality is fine, though there are major oversights and issues with the home.

Sub standard material and selections were offered based on the price of the house. As an example the primary bathroom vanity cabinets have no drawers for storage, unlike earlier phases and model homes, closet door selection was sub standard as well, they had no real options for stair railing options. I could go on and on these are just a few items I had to start a list because it got that bad. When comparing the KB homes in this community to the KB homes in Irvine (which are priced comparable) the selections and quality are night and day. This was extremely disappointing KB Homes needs to ...

Lack of Communication and slow in responses to Construction and to customer

We've had a few problems. 1: heater was never hooked up properly. 2. Whole house fan stopped working after trying to turn it on once. 3. Communication to customer was lacking or non-existent. 4. Brand new countertops were faulty and had to all be replaced. Communication to Construction crew on behalf of Customer was lacking or non-existent. All our problems were eventually fixed, but they really were fixed thanks to construction crew because KB themselves did not communicate to construction crew or customer very well. We had to replace the brand new countertops after weeks of asking ...

Need to improve the quality and workmanship of the homes. There’s a lot of issues with appliances, cabinetry and lack of quality with the finishing touches of the home. Need more attention to details specially with the design center. Lots of mistakes with the choices so it’s back and forth communication to get things resolved is painstaking. I don’t have any complaints with the sales person. Paxton is always on top of any issues and concerns given to him.

Absolutely not happy at all and no one really gives a care. Cheap, nasty materials and even worse workmanship. Actions speak louder than words...still waiting for action. KB Home decided to push to have home site completed 6-8 weeks early. I voiced my concerns about corners being cut immediately. My concerns were not unfounded. Now, I'm expected to take time off of work for each individual sub contractor/vendor to come and fix what should have been done correctly in the first place; this is very costly. I have already paid a fortune for this house, why should it cost me more for it to be ...

KB Home - Overall the process was a little rocky and communication was

  • Jordan T.

Overall the process was a little rocky and communication was not always the strong suit of KB Homes. Solar Panels were a requirement but initial signing of documents and discussion with sales office indicated they were optional (our realtor confirmed they were optional for us), and was only later revealed as required very offhandedly during a random drop-in at the model homes. This was a very expensive thing to suddenly have to consider and seeing as this law was passed before we even visited the site and considered purchasing, seemed like a big oversight on the sales office. We also met some ...

We felt like there were lots of charges and items that were not disclosed until closing. We also feel like a lot of our questions did not get answered by the agent and our text/phone calls would go unreturned. We also had an issue with the appraisal that KB was not willing to be flexible with.
