Nothing

Sub standard material and selections were offered based on the price of the house. As an example the primary bathroom vanity cabinets have no drawers for storage, unlike earlier phases and model homes, closet door selection was sub standard as well, they had no real options for stair railing options. I could go on and on these are just a few items I had to start a list because it got that bad. When comparing the KB homes in this community to the KB homes in Irvine (which are priced comparable) the selections and quality are night and day. This was extremely disappointing KB Homes needs to ...

Sales and finance were excellent. Rolanda and Brad did a great job. Disappointed with interior craftsmanship and finish. Sloppy work and finishes feel cheap. Multiple issues with the home. Resolution of these issues being accomplished slowly.

Lack of Communication and slow in responses to Construction and to customer
- Arthur C.

We've had a few problems. 1: heater was never hooked up properly. 2. Whole house fan stopped working after trying to turn it on once. 3. Communication to customer was lacking or non-existent. 4. Brand new countertops were faulty and had to all be replaced. Communication to Construction crew on behalf of Customer was lacking or non-existent. All our problems were eventually fixed, but they really were fixed thanks to construction crew because KB themselves did not communicate to construction crew or customer very well. We had to replace the brand new countertops after weeks of asking ...

KB Home - Need to improve the quality and workmanship of the homes.

Need to improve the quality and workmanship of the homes. There’s a lot of issues with appliances, cabinetry and lack of quality with the finishing touches of the home. Need more attention to details specially with the design center. Lots of mistakes with the choices so it’s back and forth communication to get things resolved is painstaking. I don’t have any complaints with the sales person. Paxton is always on top of any issues and concerns given to him.

If only KB Home used professional sub contractors

Absolutely not happy at all and no one really gives a care. Cheap, nasty materials and even worse workmanship. Actions speak louder than words...still waiting for action. KB Home decided to push to have home site completed 6-8 weeks early. I voiced my concerns about corners being cut immediately. My concerns were not unfounded. Now, I'm expected to take time off of work for each individual sub contractor/vendor to come and fix what should have been done correctly in the first place; this is very costly. I have already paid a fortune for this house, why should it cost me more for it to be ...

Overall the process was a little rocky and communication was not always the strong suit of KB Homes. Solar Panels were a requirement but initial signing of documents and discussion with sales office indicated they were optional (our realtor confirmed they were optional for us), and was only later revealed as required very offhandedly during a random drop-in at the model homes. This was a very expensive thing to suddenly have to consider and seeing as this law was passed before we even visited the site and considered purchasing, seemed like a big oversight on the sales office. We also met some ...

We felt like there were lots of charges and items that were not disclosed until closing. We also feel like a lot of our questions did not get answered by the agent and our text/phone calls would go unreturned. We also had an issue with the appraisal that KB was not willing to be flexible with.

Glad to be home but not the best experience
- Cameron L.
- Verified HomeBuyer
- September 14, 2021
- Inglewood, CA
I’m glad to be in my house but unfortunately it was not the experience I expected. We had multiple major issues and construction was delayed by more than 3 months. The issues included air conditioning controls being swapped between floors, dryer vent stuccoed shut (destroyed our first dryer), garage door didn’t work upon installation, broken master bathroom fan, and the list goes on. KB was responsive in getting these fixed, but it was a less than stellar experience due to the cost we paid for a brand new home.
KB Home responded:

Steve and Katrina were great. That’s did all the could to make things right. The builder are sloppy, missing paint, holes in door, A C went out 3 times. Door off hinges. I could go on and on. The sales team is awesome. Need hire better builder that cares.

It is like jumping through hurdles to get someone to tell you what, when and how to repair something. There is so much red tape. You go through many people trying to find out if your issue is even in the pipeline. If your issue is a small fix, the repair is sloppy, causing other damage. Make sure every little thing is fixed and checked prior to closing to avoid these unnecessary headaches. I am still waiting for the new working keys to the front gate. It is a shame, as I like the property.

This review appears to be after receiving my home and living here, so this will solely be based on that. When moving in, we were too excited to see what was actually wrong with the place. Furthermore, when meeting to have things fixed, this was impossible to get a hold of people. Some were great and apologize to have to include them in this, but others were terrible and lost my trust in them. We found many things wrong with the walls, paint missed, windows messed up/cracked, the outside exterior cracking, and most importantly, the floor are uneven! Deadlines aren't being met, responsiveness ...

Paint workmanship inside of the home is 2 out of 5 ratings. We've repainted many walls ourselves already. A few repair requests made in mid-May 2022 are still pending as of June 28, 2022. Responsiveness to issues is horrible.

KB Home - The initial completion date was not respected due to Covid-19
- Hernandez K.

The initial completion date was not respected due to Covid-19 related issues, but once i moved in, i noticed minor issues with the property, such as the concrete slab that we paid for, which was not installed and other structural issues with the property. We were also told of a 10 day follow up review, which never took place. Some knobs are loose, and all of this is happening as we just moved in.
KB Home responded:

This experience was our first time building from the ground up but not our first time buying a home, thus we were very excited in the beginning. However, lack of communication, delays, stuff not working upon move in, things still not working months later, and noticing finishes in were haphazardly put together does not push us to want to purchase another KB home.
