KB Home - Communication is horrible.
- Michael L.

Communication is horrible. Still waiting on when out front landscaping is going to be finished. We have been in for 2 months and no word on when they will get to it. We paid to have our house interior painted and I could have painted it better myself. We were told we may be too picky that they painting was fine even though it looked horrible. We were treated by our superintendent like we were idiots and he thought he knew everything and always had an excuse as to why something was the way it was. We were told it’s not a custom house about 2” times when we asked for something to be fixed like ...

Not as good as we hoped

Cody said he would replace our driveway and power wash our garage that’s covered in paint. I’ll be happy to change this after that is done but it’s now been just about 2 months and we are getting the run around we feel like with no direct answer. Our furnace acts ups time to time. The paint inside the house is super cheap and if you accidentally rub your shoulder in the wall it scratches. We love the house as a whole just want the driveway replaced and garage power washed and I’ll be happy. Oh we also had construction workers steal water from our hose which isn’t normal.

Stressful … arduous….frustrating….

Stressful, arduous experience building a new home with KB - sub par contractors - sub par Project Managers who didn’t know how to manage a job and the result is a sub par home which I will have to already update and renovate. What should have been an exciting time in my life turned out to be anything but with me having to micro-manage them and beg for the job to be done right - mistake after mistake cost valuable time - took 15 months to get into the house.

The standards are far below what they should be for this price point. I felt like I had to oversee construction to get anything close to what it should be and still have quality issues that will never be right.

Complete disregard and lack of expected quality craftsmanship for a $550K home. Lots of cutting corners to push towards a short-deadline closing. Lots of pressure put on building superintendents and managers to close the books on several homes at the same time. First night in the house the thermostat went bonkers and started the A/C when it was 19 degrees outside. Brand new whirlpool oven didn't work for nearly two weeks. Rather than bring us a new one like we had asked they deferred us to their home warranty department. Well over 20 items still awaiting fixes and or repairs after being ...

KB Home - Having lot of post closing issues and those are not addressed

Having lot of post closing issues and those are not addressed properly. No point of having 1 month check in of everything has to go through the product warranty.

Terribly rushed and resulting bad quality

KB had a lot of supply chain and labor problems as did all builders. So they rushed the inspection process to get to closing and get my money. After that it has been like pulling teeth to get them to finish the items that they PROMISED to take care of. Now that winter has set in I expect most items will not be addressed until spring. In retrospect, I would recommend have your own inspector submit a report before closing and to not close until the items are addressed. Don't count on KB to fix things after you close. And they continually harassed me top submit this review, so here it is.

Quality of workmanship & materials is the worst. All the money spend on upgrade are absolute waste of money and time. Build quality is so poor in comparison to other builders, are horrible. My first experience with KB Home was worst, so I will never buy in future and will not recommend any one to buy from KB Homes.

We had many items on our list from the walkthrough that needed to be addressed. Some minor and some major flaws. 6 weeks later nothing done or committed to being fixed. Spent $$$ on upgrades. Upgraded wood floors have defective boards, whitish color where stain is missing, many scratches and holes. Upgraded cabinets, inconsistent stain. whitish stain on several doors, scratches and doors falling off their hinges. I have personally fixed many items on our "to do list" The customer service people and sales people are all very nice and assure me they will fix issues. But Douglas County ...

I still have issues in my home that have gone unresolved. Warranty refuses to answer my calls after complaining about a shower that continues to spew water out of my walk in shower because of poor quality craftsmanship. They said they fixed it but only said that just so they can buy more time and let the Warranty run out so they don't have to deal with my home. Beware when buying from this builder you might also find unwanted things in your basement bedroom should you decide to finish you basement with KB homes.

Sales staff (Theresa), GC (Glendon, Oz), warranty (Jaime)and design center (Jenna) personnel were great, responsive and awesome to work with so our scores don’t reflect on them in anyway. Current issues or qestions are dealt with quickly. Issues brought up to higher personnel during build were never corrected or solutions were never offer so we were stuck what we got. The renderings did not match our final product because that’s all we could go off of. The materials (stone, paint and elevation)were altered and not addressed with us on how it would “really” look. VP didn’t want to correct an ...

KB promises 100% completion before move-in, but they did not deliver on their promise. Our home was far from being completed with numerous flaws and construction problems. We are still dealing with issues that have not be fixed or even addressed. Our neighbors have similar or worse issues. I have purchased other new home in the past and have never had such a bad experience. If I had to do it over again, I would not buy a KB home.

Unfortunately, what was supposed to be an enjoyable experience turned out to be far from it. Due to a changing home sales market in June/July we struggled to get our (previous) home under contract. KB didn't care. Not only did they not want to work with us to still close on our new home, they literally gave us an ultimatum. On July 19th, we received an email which read; "Get your home under contract by Saturday, July 23 or we will consider you in breach of contract and sell them home to another buyer. If we are able to sell the home before August 30, we will return your earnest money. If not, ...

It's been almost two month I have no dryer the replacement they brought doesn't work. The hot water was working fine when we moved inn and it completely stopped working i was told they missed a part and they will fix it. It is still not fixed. I am now told to move out and get a hotel. All this with two kids. I am not even adding a whole wrong instalation of all the bars that is still not fixed and a shower glass not in place.....to say the least I didn't expect this from KB homes.

I’ve had a leaking roof in my starlight kb home in the Central Park area for 5 weeks!! KB has sent the same roofer out three times and they have still not fixed my roof. It actually seems to be getting worse. I’ve also had my dishwasher broken, my AC not working. I have a hole in my siding and holes in the flashing of my outside fireplace that let mice get into my walls, and they scratch behind my daughters headboard in her bedroom. Nobody’s come out to seal the hole or the flashing or make sure that the mice are out of my walls. I’ve had a pond in my front yard from the neighbors sump pump, ...

I am a second time KB homeowner. This experience has been HORRIBLE. I have encountered multiple issues that were pointed out several weeks prior to closing. The issues pointed out, poor craftsmanship, wrong appliances installed, defective carpet installation, wrong size vanity for second bathroom, drywall application and upgraded painting application were all horrendous. I purchased a new home that should have the upgrades and appropriate workmanship I paid for. This is the biggest purchase I have ever made and has resulted in the biggest disappointment.
