It was our dream to have a home and at the beginning our experience was pleasant. However, we can’t believe it’s just COVID that has made our experience decline so drastically. If we would have waited to have our home just right we would still be living out of motels and friends homes. We have reached out to warranty multiple times and have had no response. Great reviews are wanted but not warranted.

KBHome will build you a decent home quickly. Everything was completed to plan and order, albeit with slightly unacceptable workmanship and small issues. They are extremely slow to resolve issues after closing (if they resolve them at all) so I do recommend you set yourself up for success by not closing until all major things are fixed. I say major things because there will always be small issues with any home builder and thats acceptable. Price is expensive but they give you a lot of options. For the price, however, I would've expected at least a minimum amount of attention to detail. Sales staff is nice but won't communicate quickly and aren't the most knowledgable. I can recommend KBHomes but I must insist you at least get a quote from another lender and you higher an outside home inspector. KBHome likes to offer a lot of money off if you close through their lender (for me they offered $5000 off at closing) but as soon as I went to another lender I realized it wasn't any cheaper because they charged me almost $5000 more in other areas such as "paperwork processing" to make up for the discount. For anyone looking to purchase a KBHome, buyer beware that you are about to embark on a rushed, confusing, and pressured experience. Before the purchase of our home and for an extremely short period thereafter, the responsiveness and ability to make promises made to assist, carry out requests, and fix issues were satisfactory. However, the follow-through on promises and communication regarding the status of issues have been extremely frustrating. It is clear that is important through the rushed purchase process that the company places utmost priority in getting a customer through to the finish line of purchasing but afterward, responsiveness, service, and customer-first attitude falls off a cliff. I had to escalate an email to upper management to receive any attention.. and it still not completed to date. The package is pretty at the surface, but the deeper you dig, the harder it is to stay in love with the deal you made. Also, please be weary of the $10,000 upfront that you need to put in that they don‘t tell you about to secure your purchase!! If you choose to back out, you lose $10,000. Ouch. ... More

The experience was much better in the very beginning. I had to close without the home being completely finished. Almost 2 months later & I’m still told things are on back order. I have to reach out several times to get responses to issues. This is a very large purchase. But there are so many things that still need to be addressed

This company has made promises with very slow progress in delivery. I am experiencing water retention against the foundation of my home. The rain water last for days. I have been requesting a drain installation however months later after closing in April now June no French drain just leave with standing water.

A month before closing we saw issues with the home that needed to be fixed, in order to delay the closing we inquired prior to the walk through. They said all issues would be addressed the same week and closing and be resolved quickly before closing. I closed on 23 June and it is now 11 August and I still have several items from my initial walkthrough that should have been fixed.

The craftsmanship of the home we bought was not very good. We hope to have all the issues fixed during the home warranty period.

I’m not sure if I should feel manipulated, lied to or if I just have to be even more patient. I was told there would be consistent communication, however I don’t get any calls back or returned text messages. I was told that I would be given a gift if I gave a positive review, which I did and still have not received it nor the actual things I’ve paid for. At this point I’m just wondering can I call the vendors myself to get things done because no one else is. This is extremely disappointing.

Paint all over the floors and kitchen appliances that we now have to remove. Not happy at all.

We have been in the house for almost two months and the 10-day list we reviewed with the Superintendent and then Cust Service Mgr and now we must submit to KB Warranty dept. We have primary shower not complete, no shelves in linen closet, missing 5 window screens, drywall cuts and holes to be repaired, water leak in the pantry and drywall removed by the plumbing company needs to be repaired, missing trim, debris under the carpet that was not swept before laying upstairs, damaged hardy board siding and the list goes on. All these very obvious issues and the Superintendent did his walk thru prior to closing and said the house was complete. Nothing has been done to finish the home. ... More

The materials used to build this property are cheap and very poor quality. The work was done really bad. 2 months later still waiting on repair for things that were broken or incomplete. If they tell you that they will take care of you and not leave you hanging, don’t believe it. They will make you feel like you are asking for a favor, but you are really asking to do their job and give you what you paid for. I will not recommend, We are very dissatisfied and disappointed with the house we received.

Not enough management overseeing construction. Everything is rushed and no one is professional. Do not follow up like promised. Very poor quality of workmanship & material.

I would like for the contractor to come finish my house

I did my closing on August (two months ago) and I’m starting to have issues with the home pertaining to roofing, walls tearing out and breaking, squeaking floors on the second floor, loose toilets. Definitely not satisfied with KB Home, they rushed at the end to closing and for this reason I will not recommend this home builder. Comparing with other home builder that I’ve seen, KB have lower construction standards by far.

We closed on the home April 20 and I let the builder know that they had 3 weeks to fix the already existing issues until my family moved in on May 12. When we showed up to the house 3 weeks later the house was unfinished. The same issues were still not completed. The house wasn't even cleaned and ready for us to live in it. There are items that we paid for that aren't installed on the house and vice a versa.

Buying with kbhomes has been a very stressful experience. Wish it was easier since we purchased one of the most expensive house they built in this area and the most expensive in our community.

The delay on handling things around the house after closing has been a very frustrating experience. This is my first home and I was not expecting so many issues because it's a new build. I closed 2/17/22 and still waiting for things to be taken care of. Now I have a ceiling leak on top of that.

I'm still waiting fixtures for my home. Almost 2 months and still missing items. Repairs and issues still need to be worked on with zero to little communication.

The value for the price we paid for our new home is okay, despite the continued issues before after move in. However, the communication and service from the construction team and lender were very disappointing. I would highly recommend that future homebuyers stay far far away from KB.

Lack of presence of of the promised appliances on the day of walkthrough like No Stove range, no Microwave. Lot of small issues needed to be addressed and it took almost 45 days after forcing the buyer to close on the property. I had to make repeated requests to make repairs and customer service is NOT customer oriented team at all. KB homes threaten buyers to close on the property when it is NOT move in ready. Very disappointed that as big as KB Homes building umpteen number of homes in the area, conducting in this unprofessional manner taking the joy of owning a new from the buyers. I heard the same complaints from other home owners in the locality. Simply disappointing and frustrating and KB Homes won’t give a hoot and won’t budge in to compensate either. The entire experience is one of the worst I have ever had and this is the third home that I’ve built. The completion time was twice as long as I was promised, and the quality of the work is mediocre at best. It’s almost impossible to get things resolved off your punchlist. I have been in the house for two months and things that were supposed to be resolved after my 10 day walk-through are still not resolved. It’s only recently that I started dealing with Mike one of the people in charge of this development that I have been able to get things addressed, he is great but the entire experience has been horrific. ... I booked the home Nov 2021 with a delivery commitment of May/June 2022; All things were planned accordingly in the covid era so delays due to covid is a mood point but the builder kept referencing to it and delivered the home in Nov 2022; So what that did to me a. Increased rates even with a rate lock b. The houses that was built and delivered was not per the waitlist order c. The discounts that lender can offer was not sufficient enough to cover the loss at closing d. I was renting the house and the timing was so off that i'am unable to rent For potential buyers in to the future, make sure the deliverables are given to you in writing. Things happen which is out of anyone's control but the response to the situation is critical and ask for prior history on how they handled it ... More
