Good home but slow responses

Builder response to issues really slowed down immediately after closing, but would buy again.

KB Home responded:

I think that I need a min-course in how to use the Smart features in my home. Also the backyard seems sloppy because there are holes in the sand and it is uneven.

If you go with KB home, be really careful with your studio selections. Purchase as much of that as you can outside of the studio. And check on your home weekly as it’s being built.

Quality at delivery time is slopy, could be more neatly delivery. Bricks could show better craftman ship.

Experience Was Okay

They set the expectations high based on all the things they say/share and provide for documentation of the process yet it didn’t seem like they actually followed through with it. I guess it could’ve been worse but definitely not as great craftsmanship executed in the building of the home as they sale nor are they consistent. Make sure you use a realtor to keep you in the best interest and not just be another “Lot”. Overall the experience was okay but at the end of it all we had to “clean” a brand new home to move into.

Great customer service but little value

House construction was delayed by 4 months, which is understandable to some extend but it wasn't easy dealing with temporary place to stay and having your mortgage rate lock expire since KB kept sending inaccurate closing dates. The home quality itself is ok. For being a new home I was expecting better quality in terms of finish. To mention a few things: nails sticking out the middle of the carpet, some gaps between floor and wall base, uneven layout of floor tiles that make a room look like its longer on one end than the other. Customer service however is very good, they are responsive even ...

KB Home - For the most part we have been pleased with our new home.

For the most part we have been pleased with our new home. The part that we are unhappy with is that throughout the process we have been told many things and the timing of them getting done or getting them done the right way has been a pain. Especially with our front yard area. The plans always seem to change with KB and they don’t always seem to know what’s going on and their answer to solving a problem is that they will find out and let you know but then they never let you know.

Make sure you have a realtor when you buy your KB Home. They respect realtors and ignore homeowners. You'll need someone to ensure that KB does the job and someone who can get you discounts on mistakes they make. Also, spend the money on an inspector no matter what the sales people say.

Pretty decent experience

The house was beautiful when finished. There are items in the house that were unfinished and lots of design center issues that soured this experience. Advice: new hires need much better training. Me working in the real estate industry I really was able to see the lack of professionalism and experience and it didn’t make the process great. Wish I had worked with more veteran employees. The Design Center was by far the worse experience of it all. A lot of items were not explained and I missed out on configuring my house the way I would’ve liked. Overall, I’m okay but would rate the entire ...

House is good. Great quality at a great price. However, the communications with the co structure crew and sales person was very poor. Would of been a great experience if they just listened to us versus fighting us. I would recommend KB to others with a different crew. Studio and mortgage process was amazing (even though kb asks for way to many documents).

Snow Removal Sucks

My home is nice. So far warranty issues are taken care of in a satisfactory manor. But: I live 3 doors down and across the street from the Model Homes. I have Lived in this soon to be nice community and THE Walk IS NOT SHOVELED. Here is the Beauty of My side of the Street not Getting Shoveled. The Snow removal starts at the Model Homes and they will NOT SHOVEL THE HOUSES ACROSE THE STREET FROM THE MODEL HOMES?

KB Home responded:
Hi Kenneth, we sincerely apologize for your frustration. Snow removal for sidewalks, excluding those in front of the model homes, is managed by the homeowner’s association. We’d be happy to help put you in touch with a representative from the HOA if you have concerns about snow removal. Please email your address and contact information, with a reference to your review, to CustomerRelations@kbhome.com so we can assist you. -James

We had a lot of issues with the house when we moved in, our Central air and heat did not work, we had electrical problems, paint clean up, exterior of the house was missing paint, just to name a few. But Gary our warranty guy made sure that we were taken care of right away and had all of these issues fixed. But we did expect the workmanship to be way better, to many unfinished details for a new built house.

You get an ok house for a good price, but be very careful with the builder contractors they will leave a mess and to make them to clean after is very difficult, other than that you get a good place to live for an affordable cost.

The final product is decent but to get there you have to spend a lot of time walking the house and working with the superintendent to get things corrected. It takes multiple times requesting corrections before they happen. We walked the houses around us that were not being checked up on and the quality was pretty poor. As long as you can stay on top of the build, the final product is a good value for the money.

We had an outstanding experience with all KB staff, however the quality of craftsmanship and care of construction was very poor in our first home build experience. We had trash left in our walls and behind HVAC units, carpet laid over debris, flooring laid incorrectly, missing electrical components, missing plumbing components, and more which has led to an unpleasant month of constant repairs and fixes after moving in. The KB team has been scrambling to make sure everything is fixed to our satisfaction but please make sure you are keeping an eye out on details that construction crews (a lot ...

The builders were rushed and did a poor job on details. They wouldn't allow me an additional day. I had to close on August 20th. If they had held off for another month, the issue I have wouldn't exist. The paint job is poor, the cracks in almost all corners in the Master bathroom weren't sealed. Cracked tile in the master bath and instead of replacing it the put grout on it. Wood around the island is not flush, it puckers in the corners. All these thing couldn't be seen unless looking very closely. I've had three different contractors from the time the building of my house to now. The last ...

1. Credit from standard options that can be applied towards to upgrades - This is really not true. They do make it look its true on little things like the faucets that you can check outside but anything that goes in thousands and the exact model is not found in the stores they added at least a 50% premium mixing up with poor quality items. 2. Design studio's misleading sampling technique - sample items they showed in the design studio looks intentionally misleading. Flooring sample they have shown did not represent what they have actually installed. A small percentage of the difference can be ...

KB offers affordable model homes, with decent workmanship. I did not give it 5 stars, because there was no transparency upfront about the additional costs involved in building the home like the lot premiums, or what was involved in the basic model. Their mortgage company was also difficult to contact and get a hold of.
