Things went well overall - spec home didn't play a big part in the building process.

Loan process was easy until it came time to close all these excuses if what was needed or missing kept pushing closing back a week then back another week! Upgrades in home have poor craftsmanship dings scrapes & scratches on upgraded cabinets Tub insert not connected to wall attachment this creates repairmen to come make a mess to fix the issues that should have been completed correctly in the first place Holes in ceilings around fire sprinkler and around outlet covers Faulty plumbing causing flooding in the house first day we moved in

Took a few month more to complete the home, but over all it's done and I'm enjoying it.

Closing was set for March 24th. I did everything on my end to make it happen. The house needed at least another month's worth of work to complete along with a water leak in a bathroom. It was ridiculous to see. No hole for a dryer vent, broken trim, concrete in the garage a total disaster with spills and chipped concrete along with noticeable cracks already. Finally closed on May 15th with issues still existing. As for the inside of the house, I told the Superintendent I would finish the inside of the house myself because it was obvious the subs don't care about quality and don't have pride in their work. Some of the subs were outstanding in their work as far as flooring, kitchen stove, AC, and sprinkler system. The painters and trim sub contractors are terrible. And to have a toilet paper holder over 4 feet from the toilet is so laughable and I shared it with the Superintendent. The cost of this house as to the quality is totally lacking and way over priced. The Superintendent is a good man, but he doesn't have the ability to get quality workers to finish homes correctly and I can tell it bothers him. If I would have known KB Home was this bad with the finished product and what they try to sell you, I would have never done this and I will not recommend KB to anyone I know or care about. I also doubt this review will ever be considered because I have seen how the subs are allowed to turn out a product that does not meet the standards of quality. KB Homes did an amazing job facilitating the process of buying a home. They were present and involved in everything from setting up our first tour, to walking us through the month long escrow process, to picking up our keys. I would highly recommend them to anyone interested in buying one of their homes!

My preparation from Texas was great, I could not believe how smooth the process went. I was disappointed on the initial walk thru at the number of issues that needed to be done. But all the people I dealt with were awesome and willing to help in any way they could. It would have been nice if all the construction was complete, especially when the houses are so close together. I would have liked more choices on the flooring as I am not a big fan of carpet in the main living areas. I still have a few issues to be resolved and because of all the work still needed to be done in the area, it makes it harder to get issues resolved. I love the location of my house, it would have been even better if my back yard faced the mountains. ... More

KB homes are budget value homes. The homes are plain looking and built with for most part good quality materials. Their base prices offer minimal upgrades. If you are a first time home buyer or on a strict budget then KB homes will fit your needs. Unfortunately, the obvious poor workmanship stood out immediately when we were watching our home’s building progress from start to finish. The poor workmanship was mostly carelessness of the workers and the way they treated their job site. The building plans themselves were in question as well. Here is some examples: The bathtub in the second bathroom was treated as a trash can during construction. The back yard was treated as a trash can for workers water bottles, cigarette butts and other trash. The painting has massive air bubbles and the touch up that was never ending. Every door in the house has damaged bottoms from when the workers or worker slammed them down in the garage. The drywall was installed before the roof was completed which caused damage to the drywall after it rained and snowed on and in the house. All the damaged drywall was replaced. The garage floor and back patio was permanently damaged from flooring installation glue. The flooring quarter round was installed with the wrong color. The baseboards were installing wrong the first time. We waited a month for our ceiling fans to get installed and fixed. We are still waiting for our flooring to get corrected. Our cabinets were a disaster. Doors were warped, knobs installed crooked and one knob still missing and touch up needed in several areas. These are some examples not everything. I understand all new home builds will need touch up and fixes but a lot of these issues were caused by workers not caring about their workmanship and improper builder supervision. KB has shown their concern over these matters and has made every effort to correct these issues and are still being corrected. They should offer two tone paint and semigloss throughout the house. We felt we got a good price for our home, however it was a lot of effort and still is to get everything corrected. ... More

Be ready ,be patient and flexible

It,s been horrible with these surveys. I feel I fielded out like 20 by now. One every week.. ridiculous.. and If I don’t I have people calling to do so.. thank you but please. Leave alone and let me enjoy my house.

We love our home, especially the upgrades we made! We had two issues, one was with the finance side and not being as upfront as we would hope (apparently that person has been let go since then), second was that we had to wait two weeks past our final inspection to move into the home due to Edison not installing our meter on time. Other than those issues our overall experience with KB was great!

The worst decision you can make is to buy a Kb home. From the service to the craftsmanship of the home, staying away is the best thing you can do for yourself and your family.

I am happy and grateful to kh and his team and myself Martin, if I would buy another house again kh is a good option.

There was a rush for me to take possession of the home. The builder could have spent a couple more months. There are many that are not working properly - the walls "flake" very easily, Do was off kilter, water doesn't come out to some of taps, the kitchen faucet is already loose, the cable plus are in strange places....I was promised a fan for the KB Home design studio experience .... never happened....I would not buy another KB Home.

KB have been great, from always available to help, to the quality of the build, to the beautiful selections they offer. Can’t get a better experience than this. Thanks KB

Sheri was so helpful and informative during the initial home buying experience when I went under contract. She kept me and my realtor up to date on the build throughout the process. Jim has been so attentive in taking care of structural and operational tasks that needed revision, such as replacing my master bathroom cabinetry, lawn care for the first few weeks after closing, reviewing with me the sprinkler system, etc. Kerlyn was a pleasure to speak to on the phone and he has been effective in setting up work orders to address the issue with the damaged drywall in the laundry room and touching up the paint on my front door. The criticisms I have for the workmanship is that the contractors building the home need a little more attention to detail. I can visually notice several areas inside the house where the base boards are not straight or at 90 degrees relative to the adjoining walls. Also, the windows don't measure the same width when measured at the top compared to the width at the bottom. Lastly, I was told at the initial home orientation that the builder would place an epoxy coating on my garage floor. It looks like what was done was a coating of gray paint and some scattered flakes which tend to, over time, get tracked from the garage and into the house on my shoes. I had a garage flooring professional look at the floor and he quickly assessed that what was done to the garage floor was not an epoxy coating. Our home purchase went very smoothly. The KB people we dealt with from sales, financing, construction all the way thru the closing were very helpful and responsive to all our questions and needs. Highly commendable all around.

It’s a nice home in a nice neighborhood.
