While I am mostly satisfied with my home, KB was not at all responsive to my issues during the construction. It was delayed by nearly a year but they wouldn't actually tell me that. They gave me an initial date and, once that passed, they wouldn't give me a date again until construction was complete (not even an estimate). Everyone I worked with at the start was either laid off or quit at some point during the construction. Our service team was laid off as soon as we closed escrow so we now have no one to go to in response to issues. We are told someone is about to be assigned to us but we closed escrow a few months ago. Overall we mostly like the house, and the employees are nice, but the corporate standard for customer service is far below anything I've ever experienced before. ... More

We feel that the workmanship is not too good, because we can feel many nails on the edges of the carpets. so we use hammer to make the nails flat . and also the sliding door of the bathroom was not installed properly , but after moving it was fixed.

Take forever to have them come to fix stuff

was forced to pushed to close early for a whole month for no reason (other than looks good on their paper), while they were rushing to finish up the construction of the house. Had to wait for a whole month to get internet because the construction of the next door isn't completed.

Mortgage team, salesman &. Warranty specialist are good but as a home buyer I am not satisfied with KBHome because builder did not provided BASIC facilities in the house like, GUTTERS, SOFTNER LOOP, SPRINKLERS atleast BLINDS.

The experience that I have had has been in the middle of decent and terrible. Being that I have a construction background I know what to look for. I have had to go back and forth with to fix issues that KB deemed as there standers. Apparently rocks under the carpet is normal. Then KB has tried to sell me on the fact that they can just fix everything damaged without a replacement. All KB is doing is getting themselves through the warranty process of a year and moving on and leaving people with the issues. They have also tried to sell me on things like my house fan that wasn’t even working saying it’s just so quiet you can’t hear it. I physically got in my attic and saw that it was missing the most key thing for it to work “the power source.” So over all it’s more toward the negative because I’m supposed to have a new house not a house that’s already having all these issue’s expected better. ... My house wasn't done on time and was delayed several times, but for the most part all parties involved did the best they could during this situation and were very prompt and treated us well. Thank you

Not what we expected from a brand new home.

While the overall homebuying experience was not terrible, the delivery delays were incredibly frustrating. The most disappointing piece is some of the delays were avoidable but the builders poor communication and honesty was not transparent. The attention to detail in the home was lacking. Finishing details and QC before items were installed and permanently affixed is lacking. Care of craftsmanship missing. For the cost of the home, my expectations were much higher and it's obvious that things were done in a rush, which is frustrating because now I'm the one left to deal with the warranty repairs and fixes. ... KB financial services need improvements! They need to work on their communication with the customers! It should be a clear path how they work together.

Problems with Purchasing Dept specifications and subs completing work.

If you are optimizing for the price, KB is the builder to go for. You get what you pay for. Usually, there are no high ceilings. Even gutters are not included in the base price. The finish will not be as great as other builders in the market.

I made the deal in November 2021 with a delivery date of 6 months, I signed in September 2022 a house that still had construction defects with the deal that we had a 2-year warranty on repairs. 3 days after signing the house it rained and the roof had a leak that wet my carpet in October hurricane Ian passed category 1 and in the area it did not feel as much but it broke the wall inside near the window because the corner of the window had a crack and the water leaked, adding that they just opened two holes in the ceiling because they did not connect the air conditioning ducts and the air was not reaching the first floor, that the bathtub has a crack too , and that the paint they use is cracked and had many paint defects, that the garage floor was cracked (they fixed it), the carpet was left with staples, and the bathroom door has to be lifted to open it because it doesn't roll and every day you can find some more details, that to be a new house it should not have so many problems and that as a buyer I would not want to have to go through it because it is not what I expected ... it was going so well since 4 days left before the closing date. They let me know about the delay 4 DAYS before closing and I had to pay extra money to Airbnb and the storage. Because I moved from California and had nowhere to stay you shouldn't trust them and take some action about what they promised about the closing date.

Time to correct warranty issues is excessive. Six weeks to have a missing medicine cabinet installed and front door adjusted so smart lock will work. Still waiting. Still waiting on replacement kitchen cabinet doors almost two months after closing. Repair of electrical outlet that was covered by sheetrock resulted in another two week wait to fix damaged sheetrock. Sheetrock and paint repairs have only met the minimum and do not really match original.

The overall experience was longer than promised but worth the wait. I love my new home and community. The Superintendent, Dan, is amazing. He went above and beyond for me and my family.

Needs improvement on the quality of finishings upon turnover making sure that everything is finished.Needs to update some options and designs for more modern customize look.Needs improvement on addressing issues un a tumely manner.

I have not receive any update on 30 day visit. I have a broken window that has not been fixed. The tree upfront does not have poles to hold it up, when everyone else has it. I have asked for information about HOA and nothing has come back.

Need to level switch light

About a 12 month process, supposed to be 10. Lots of items not complete upon close, some still not corrected. Supposed to have a 30 day follow up, but have not heard from anyone

House came out decent. A lot of things where rushed. Dry wall was rushed, painting was rushed and even the cabinet install was rushed. Now these are all Issues that are being addressed with warranty. I just don’t understand how things were so rushed yet the house took a full year to build. Before the pandemic houses would take 5-6months. That and a lot of the workers used were under the table paid and illegal. Specially The painters. And the kitchen island wall has waves in it and not straight because it was rushed as well. Some of the vents for AC are crooked as well because it was rushed. I won’t get answers and I’m already in the house and things are getting fixed. But with all the delays and extra time they had to do the house these things should not have been rushed. That and I also had broken roofing tiles. ... More

We moved into our new townhome in early Sept. Overall, the price we paid for the square footage/location was reasonable considering inflation and the housing market. The KB sales team is also a pleasure to work with. However, we have ran into multiple issues with our new home (including a major water leak from the bottom of our master shower which is resulting in our entire shower having to be re-done (tile ripped, new base pan, rotting wood in ceiling, etc). We have also experienced smaller issues such as pilling carpet on the stairway and a loose doorknob. The warranty team is attempting to resolve the issues however it is still very frustrating as a homeowner of a brand new home. I do want to give a shout-out to Jenny from the sales team at Liberty Station. She is always checking in on us to see how we are doing even months after closing on the home. Overall, recommend KB however we are not the only townhome in the neighborhood experiencing issues with our home. (Others experiencing appliance issues, etc.) ... More

Our experience with KB Homes has been bad. As new homeowner you come in with an expectation to later be disappointed. If you are looking for quality, this should not be your first option.
