Good house, but they're slow on warranty issues

I like my new house and in general it's well built. However, I've had a couple of warranty issues that have been open for more than 2 months without being resolved.

I moved in to a new town home at Metro II @ Comm Hill. The location of the community and floor plan is really unique. These factors led me to make the purchase. Overall I think it was a good decision. I was surprised however by the sub-par quality of workmanship all throughout the house. Several chips and scratches in the wood on doors, cabinets, etc. Paint drops on the floor. Misaligned doors. The list goes on and on. For the money I paid I expected much higher quality.

I am on the field at the options and the basic price were quite high. Or Charithing but KB Home has been responsive when we have had warranty issues so far.

Some of the materials, like the tiles around the front of my house are already chipping/shattering. Seems like either a cheap product or default. Window and sliding glass door not installed properly.

The construction and buying process was fine. Mike and Janette were responsive and kept me updated regularly. When concerns or issues came up, both Mike and Janette were quick to resolve them, they are true professionals. The closing process was a joke. Amanda at the closing office made this part of the process more difficult than it needed to be. Lack of communication, unprofessional communication, lack of follow through and lack of partnering with the mortgage company were just a few of the issues. Rough around the edges.

AC designs have had to come out multiple times to repair AC unit. It's an inconvenience and still have to work with them. I wish the house was finished and tested everything before we moved in. We are still dealing with some issues with plumbing and missing fixtures.

I got to say the quality of the materials are very good a solid foundation. The value for the home I think I paid a little to much it was a new plan and the layout didn't have that open layout I was looking for. I order a cabinet two months before closing and still haven't come in from the manufacture. We closed a six weeks ago and still have not received my kitchen cabinet and now seems to know when are if it's been order. The major parts of the home were built well. However, we have had so many electrical issues and issues with the paint. The responsiveness to get things fixed has been good, but only after I got the regional manager Ed involved. KB home needs to do a better job at doing things right the first time instead of doing things again. The roof has already had a leak due to the laziness of the roofing crew not putting on one of the vents which caused the lights in the master bedroom to short out. Our sales agents were helpful, we enjoyed the design process, and overall, the home has absolutely met our standards - we love living here, both in this community and this home. I was quite disappointed when I was told that I was not going to get any help from KB Homes with the possibility of having a rodent in an interior wall of my new home. Obviously the home was not properly sealed when being constructed to allow rodents to be able to get into the framing and drywall

Disappointed about promised pool

Everything has been great so far however we’ve been promised a pool by Memorial Day which takes 8 months start to finish. Upon buying around July for closing in August they were suppose to be breaking ground. Nothing had been even remotely close to breaking ground and we’ve been provided no update in site or no transparency about it. The pool community was a huge drive for why we chose this development with three children.

Had an issue with the oven. After only a few uses, the starter switch broke. Didn’t have an oven for a week.The shower leaked onto the baseboard due to poor workmanship. The refrigerator was scratched and had to be replaced. Seems as if the trades people are lacking an attention to detail. Too many major or minor repairs. It’s frustrating.

I love the design of our home, very spacey and organized. However, the metal made up the sink is easily scratched, which I wish we could have better quality of items made of metal. The constructors were very responsive in the 30 days period of home warranty after closing. Though we still have 2 years warranty with other constructor, they responded slowly and I haven’t heard from them yet. I hope I can hear back from them soon.

The quality of the house looks like it's not brand new it look like it's 5 years old with alot of problems need to be fixed because of rush work on the house. The house cost too much money to have too many problems.

It took some time for issues to be resolved after we got the keys. Luckily my issues were minor and were easily resolved once they got to it. The indoor paint is bad though. It easily gets dirty and when you clean it, it comes off. Jeez! Had I known beforehand I would have had the house repainted before I moved in. No major issues so far. Am I happy with my house? I would say yes. Oh, the gap between the bottom of the door and the floor is big. It looks like the door is in mini skirts. LOL!
