Make sure the home is 100% complete before you move in because it can take weeks before they address the issues that the house may have. Some of the closets did not have rods to hang our clothes and the first day we moved in the central had a leak and was not cooling the house and etc.

Not the best not the worst. As long as you don’t expect the truth about the timing of your home from anyone including VPs you should be fine. Process was seamless until final walkthrough when nothing was done right. Spent next 3 months with people in and out of the home because of their incompetence to get it right the first time. Just hoping the foundation is good

We still have so much work left to do, we have a whole framing work in the front, a shower door that still needs to be replaced, cabinet replacement, floorboard work upstairs, floor work downstairs, and plugs not working in multiple places. These are big projects to fix after we moved in, especially since they were supposed to get fixed before when we had an inspection done. I first praised George for helping to give us a garage for the opener and helping with the move-in date. But I can't overlook to constant issues and I have been disappointed. I have always heard things about KB Home or houses similar to KB, proving the rumors right. I am a first-time buyer and I would not want an experience like this for anyone. ... More

Builder visit my house last month he say he come back next week and he never comeback for the repairing

i would not buy a other house with KB home or tell someone to buy here

We were reluctant to build with KB based on others' experiences we'd heard about, but in a tight housing market, we decided that it was the easiest way to get a house in the location we wanted for a reasonable price. The sales experience was fine. The design studio process was unnecessarily confusing and time-consuming because they use software from the 1990s (I'm talking green type on a black screen) that makes it take forever for the consultant to give you the price for something and ultimately build the order. Our first consultant made several key errors. We complained about this and the manager did our final appointment (via Google hangout due to COVID). She was great, but after our home was in the build process I really wish she (or someone) had walked us through the lighting locations. We ended up with a lot less overhead lighting than we would have chosen if we knew how few lights they would provide. The build process itself was not well-supervised. Subcontractors installed broken cabinets and then the construction manager had them patched up later. Our window wells are uneven so our blinds fit well at the top of the window but not at the middle or bottom. This is a framing error. I could go on, but basically anything we didn't upgrade was inferior and even some of the stuff we did upgrade wasn't the quality I would have chosen. We've found a lot of mistakes in the couple months we've lived here. Nothing we can't either fix or live with. Not sure another Austin-area builder would have done a better job as they all use the low bidder subcontractors. Thankfully my husband is super handy. Be prepared to watch everything, spend the money on a 3rd party inspector, and then set aside a couple thousand dollars to make your home what you want it to be. ... More

Absolutely not happy at all and no one really gives a care. Cheap, nasty materials and even worse workmanship. Actions speak louder than words...still waiting for action. KB Home decided to push to have home site completed 6-8 weeks early. I voiced my concerns about corners being cut immediately. My concerns were not unfounded. Now, I'm expected to take time off of work for each individual sub contractor/vendor to come and fix what should have been done correctly in the first place; this is very costly. I have already paid a fortune for this house, why should it cost me more for it to be fixed under warranty??? Step up KB, and give me a delegate/representative that can escort the sub contractors/vendors for the repairs/warranty work that's necessary while I'm at work...or, do Saturday repairs. This is our 2nd KB Home - there are pros and cons to everything Pros - more square footage for the price and great location - no doubt about it However more cons than pros.... Cons - Craftsmanship is not great quality as it used to be - rushed, quick builds are more about QUANTITY AND NOT QUALITY Customer service is not that great - needs much improvement Hire cheap labor workers - get what you pay for, sad but true. We hesitated to give any reviews and give them a chance to help fix and make things right but when you keep getting these requests to submit surveys, on the daily and weekly - just going to have to be honest and truthful. 1st - we were told and advised that build time was 9 months to a year. "Just sign a year lease to be on the safe side." THANK GOODNESS we only signed 10 - month lease. EVEN THEN - we were told it was going to be completed 6 months sooner. We can't afford to break the lease on top of paying for higher mortgage! After back-and-forth negotiations, they still would not help us but wait. there's more. We will come back to this later. At this point - we were so stressed out and caused a lot of pain and heartache with non-stop bickering with my spouse, but we pushed through. 2nd - during the build - went from 1st foreman to another. During this transition - right after Insulation had been installed all around the house - everything was tight fitting, pretty and snug - No insulation was missing - we even asked if we could add more to certain areas while introducing ourselves to the new foreman - he said yes. so, we did. When we came back next week, the sheet rock people had already started - at this time it was only the top half around the house, we walked around the house - there were cigarette butts on our sheet rock, and there was insulation stuffed under the staircase void. We asked the foreman where the insulation came from, and at this time we were concerned about missing insulation where we can't see since half of the walls were already walled up. He said he would ask and talk to the sheet rock supervisor. All because we asked a legitimate question - coincidentally we came afterwork to walk through and check our progress - come to find urine in two different rooms that had spread to our framing and joining / connected rooms - we took pictures and immediately called the foreman. He stated that we cannot just say it's urine - we'll have to check for water leakage - so he had the plumber come out and do testing - EVERYTHING WORKED FINE - found NO LEAKS. at this time my spouse is crying because of anger and frustration - first new build and to have to deal with someone urinating in our house is unacceptable. Told our sales rep. and sent pics and e-mail. Nothing was done about this except they had to clean it and sanitize the framing. This is unacceptable - who knows how many other people's homes have been urinated in if they're not able to watch their house being built from ground up. FINE - we let it roll off our backs. They've lost our complete trust because of this. Back to closing date - only reason why they even gave us an opportunity to extend our closing date was because of this urine issue and the fact that we were told it would take longer to build and were advised to sign a year lease which we didn't thank goodness - No ONE Even knew about the urine issue we had experienced a couple months back at this point. The GM didn't even know he was baffled and shocked to hear this had happened. He helped to accommodate our needs to extend as we couldn't break our lease which we were thankful and appreciative of. Fast forward to closing date - we did a walk through and had agreed to sign and close on the house but in return things that needed to be completed would be completed - DO NOT DO THIS!!! MAKE SURE EVERYTHING IS COMPLETED PRIOR TO CLOSING. FAST FORWARD -- so many other issues afterwards - we have just moved in this month - so far, we are now on Warranty rep number 3 Let me tell you - we have not had great customer service so far -- 1st guy (Matt) met us in person - we did not have much time to go over things that were not completed so we showed him the things that were high priority - as we talked about setting up time for appointment - we had discussed PM and NOT AM - better to take the latter half and rest of the day off than to stress out about not making it to work on time. Finally, the day has come - My spouse is out of town for work. Here I am sitting at the house waiting for the painter and framer to come - texted Matt to let him know I will be here from 1 - 6 he responds with a thumbs up. (Thinking to myself - what the heck is the thumbs up for) does that mean he's saying Ok or everything is good?? fast forward to 4:30 - no one has showed up yet, messaged him again - he finally responds with well they came earlier this morning but no one was home... WHAT??!!!! we scheduled for PM not AM - I just wasted my time off that I can't get back, his response was Must have been a miscommunication. -- Instead of apologizing for the mishap, he pretty much blamed us. WHY would we take off morning half and stress out about getting to work on time and not just take the afternoon half off? My spouse was really upset - when I told her --- she's already dealing with work, she's exhausted and now she's having to call Matt as well. --- Next day, we get a text stating that Matt has been moved to another community. WOW. Go figure Kelly would be our CSR -- let me tell you - his communication skills are not great; he gives you ultimatums instead of asking you when your next availability is or what would work best with your schedule. We asked if he would kindly meet with us so we can do a meet and greet and show him things that needed to be completed but never got completed, would not even give you the time or day! Paint all over the floors and kitchen appliances that we now have to remove. Not happy at all.

Disappointed in some ways but yet happy.

We have been in the house for almost two months and the 10-day list we reviewed with the Superintendent and then Cust Service Mgr and now we must submit to KB Warranty dept. We have primary shower not complete, no shelves in linen closet, missing 5 window screens, drywall cuts and holes to be repaired, water leak in the pantry and drywall removed by the plumbing company needs to be repaired, missing trim, debris under the carpet that was not swept before laying upstairs, damaged hardy board siding and the list goes on. All these very obvious issues and the Superintendent did his walk thru prior to closing and said the house was complete. Nothing has been done to finish the home. ... More

The materials used to build this property are cheap and very poor quality. The work was done really bad. 2 months later still waiting on repair for things that were broken or incomplete. If they tell you that they will take care of you and not leave you hanging, don’t believe it. They will make you feel like you are asking for a favor, but you are really asking to do their job and give you what you paid for. I will not recommend, We are very dissatisfied and disappointed with the house we received.

Was told things were fixed after move in but they were not

Bought a "model" home. After moving in, I have a huge list of repairs needed and am still unable to use some of the upgrades I paid for. This is my 3rd house purchase, 2nd new construction purchase and the worst home buying experience. I am extremely disappointed with KB Home.

Not enough management overseeing construction. Everything is rushed and no one is professional. Do not follow up like promised. Very poor quality of workmanship & material.

The Tx loan compared to NY was very frustrating and it took over 5 or more months before they denied me a loan and I had to start all over with a different company kept me anxiety extremely high for the whole tome

What was bad was the person KB used to help with funding this home were totally incompetent. Had to answer the same questions more than 150 times. Seemed like she did not read or send the correct info to the lender. Very bad experience. Sherrilyn had to get involved sending our info to them also. The best is what received from Sherrilyn, and Ramon always on top of the job at hand. I would give them a 100% excellent grade for service in your new home. Also, AJ has been great to fix outstanding items along with Steve which has been very helpful. KB please do not use the same group on buying a new home. Michael was very good also, but Nyesha was not qualified to do the paperwork needed. ... More

The builder was great dusty but to be honest find you an outside lender cause kb lenders don’t know how to do there job Anita was terrible worse experience ever she stressed me out daily lied about everything from the start and then other lenders tried to fix her mess and couldn’t felt so bad for the guy trying to help but to many people warned me to get an outside lender I should have listened from the start but my home is beautiful love the open concept but get you an outside lender less stress

The floor left at the Largest model (1860)was dismally insufficient for a new home. Reguardless of your As is !! Model hone Purchase Policy...an attempt by myself and your Builder was made to attempt to fix the situation....after a professional cleaning and resealing the floor looked good for about 2days once completely dry it returned to it lack luster shine and powdery look. In closing we spent 8k to put a vinyl floor on the bottom half of this home...totally Disappointed...in what we got for 304k...

Some of the stuff in house wasn't placed right.

house was not ready when stated it was.

When looking to get a loan set up, the response time was very slow and a representative did not take the time to work with us. We had to go with an outside lender to be able to get the loan that works for us and give us details of what was needed. They did not comply with my outside lender with credits they said they would give us nor accommodate us for things they said that they would do. The response time I felt was terrible, but other than that the home is beautiful and the team overall has been great.

What an horrible experience for a first time home owner. They were very rude and unprofessional with me just because I got my own lender. The construction superintendent did treat me good and did try making me feel comfortable as much as he can.
