Dissatisfaction

Beautiful location, but construction of the home is not worth the price we paid. The craftsman is of poor quality. It is has been a huge headache dealing with all the issues we found around the house. The customer service has been good to send out the different trades to get the issues addressed, but some of the issues remain. The house was built too quickly and the attention to detail was horrendous.

There isn’t enough room here to cover everything that didn't come remotely close to meeting expectations. My advice to prospective buyers, do your research and look for options elsewhere.

KB took shortcuts while building the home, including placement of electrical outlets and number of switches operating the lights. KB repeatedly stated they would fix a mistake, but did not. KB charged lot premiums with no reasonable explanations. KB did not explain all features of the home and property, resulting in purchasing options that were not necessary. Home features are on the low end.

This particular home was not built painted or constructed in the quality and which KB promotes.

Unfortunately we have had a very bad experience with our KB home purchase. Not only did they fall greatly short on presenting a finished "New" home but have lacked any sense of Urgency to get issues resolved. The staff are pleasant and friendly but just haven't gotten it done as of this review. I know people that have purchased Kb homes and loved them so maybe we just got a bad crew.

It has been a nightmare starting with the closing that took 5 hours at no fault of my own- to a pipe leaking in the wall a week after I closed.

I did not have a great experience with KB. I had several problems that barely got resolved. The positive I got a nice house.

Post closing don’t expect much, so make sure everything is checked twice and checked again. No matter how insignificant it may seem make sure it’s done. Addressing issues after close is done at KBs convenience. On 4 separate occasions I stayed how waiting as scheduled and agreed and no one showed up. They did show up at their convenience when I was either working or had something else scheduled, regardless if they are contractors or subs they are agents of KB and should be respectful of your time and privacy. Overall just a bad experience and regret purchasing home, which sucks.

Suzanne, was so kind and helpful. This is why I made the decision to purchase this home. This was my fourth brand new home. The few people I met while building this house were also very helpful like Scott and Mike but anyone in higher offices were very rude and not helpful I would not recommend Kb Homes to anyone, very cheaply, built so disappointed.

The sales man was horrible, the title company and closing was horrible. The window washers came and told me they didn't finish and said they'd be back, they haven't come back. I've requested about 3 times now when they're coming back, still not back. After 3 week review I was told the painters would be back, they're still not back also.

It has been 4+ months since I have been moved to my new home. The house construction was delayed and I got penalized for the loan rate, for renting home. KB promised me to hand over the house within 12-14 months but it took more than that and they never let me know the closing date or time. They just let me know one week before the closing. At closing, they showed me the Oven+microwave combo was not there and they give me a loaner oven. They told me they back ordered my original oven but it never showed up. Now they are telling me they can not give me the original oven+microwave combo and gave me a different one without my permission. As I refused to use it, they now delaying and telling me they are waiting for the answer. I am very frustrated with that Second, at the design studio, I told them if at backyard patio is higher than the ground I need stairs. I will pay for that if I need to. The reason I was telling because I have small kids who need surrounded railing as the patio is higher than the ground. At that time they told me to contact the Construction Manager. I requested my Construction Manager and he told me he can not do anything because the city inspection told it's okay of that height. The height from the ground is almost 20 inch-22 inches. They did not install it for me. Later I found that, they put railing for other homeowners even the ground is not higher than mine. I asked why!! they did not answer. What a discrimination. I told them I have kids and I requested them specially. Is that right? Why they did do that for other owners even with the ground height is less than mine? And they did even after the closing. But not for me. The garage does not have any sealed baseboard, it has a space with the wall. Bugs and other insects (crickets, roaches) go inside the house. What a poor design !! I told the construction manager to resolve the issue. He told me it's supposed to be like that. But later I found other homeowners, new homeowners all they gave it. They are sealed with the baseboard and paint not for me. They refused to do that. The warranty guy told me, he did that for others but can not do it for me. The community features pre-wire flood light at the front was not done for me. I asked them why!! They told me they don't know. But every houses of this community have it. More frustration and more disappointment for all of these. There are a lot of issues and problems. I can write those all day long but it won't finish. After closing, the sales guy, construction manager, and warranty manager all keep good relationships so that they can get 10 and requested me several times so that they can get a KB bonus. I gave all of them 10 thinking they will actually be good people and will take care of us after closing. After that, they stop contacting me about the problems I need resolution. Any upper management ever contacted me or say sorry for what they can not do or deliver. They just forget about the homeowners. I am not recommending any person to buy a KB house after what happened with me. I think KB does not have any control over their contractor and people. They don't know what's going on with the root label. Buying a home is a dream for everyone. I thought my first home journey with KB will be good. Even I inspired my friends before and they all bought KB home. They all facing the same kind of issues as mine, But after seeing all of these problems, miss communication, and issues I am very very much frustrated. From start to finish I was very disappointed in the process. The sales person didn’t make an effort in anyway to guide me or give me any information on options. The entire plan was to get me to close ASAP and I had to put a lot of effort to get them to finish my house as promised. I had closed and two months later received my keys because the NEW HOUSE needed to have some items repaired. I still didn’t get my garage door opener at that time. I felt like I was dealing with used car sales staff! Use caution when buying a NEW HOME from this builder.

Not a good experience.

Every corner you can possibly think of was cut, KB homes is one of the poorest quality homes I have seen. I'm missing full cabinets in the bathroom, fixtures are the cheapest ones from home depot, my shower curtain rod doesn't even have complete hardware. The door going from the garage into the laundry room., when it shuts, the entire wall flexes. That wall is also shared by the master bathroom and even the bathroom door twists. I have video of it doing it as well. We have also had 3 led puck lights go out since we moved in. We have also had a main condesate drain line leak all over a wall which we found out was never connected. And there is mold growing in that wall that was never replaced. They did everything they could to hide it. And now it's behind the wall which I've still have pictures of. Go over this house with a fine tooth comb. ... More

The sale of our home was rushed. This caused the builder to rush the construction. We have open items still pending. And have had to submit multiple warranty issues.

Don't close till all issues are resolved

Really Had a bad experience with the KB home builder. There was an issue in my AC unit and drywall cracked in the living area. While on final day closing we collected keys directly from Austin Tile and we didn’t set the temperature to 69 inside the house. In return the builder is blaming us you are responsible to your house. After closing I never been at the house, then how can I responsible. It’s their responsibility to set every thing properly and currently when submitting keys to Owner. And how can they expect the Owners has to move when there was a drywall cracked in the living room. We closed in mid September and planned to move on 1st week of October, then got to know there was a cracks in drywall. But still the builder saying we have to move and it’s our fault. I felt really irritated and had a very bad experience after closing the house. Before closing they were like making fast to close immediately and now they literally took one month to fix that issue and saying if it happens again we need to pay for all the expenses. This whole home buying process through kb homes was ridiculous! This was by far the WORST homebuying experience ever! I have had 3 homes built, and we'll just say this pales by comparison!

Absolutely the worst home building experience I have ever had. Overpromised and underdelivered, untrustworthy and unresponsive staff, poor workmanship. I closed in May and still haven’t gotten to finished product.

I am an Army Veteran and have been saving up for years to make a down payment on this house so I could move back to my hometown. Me and my girlfriend were very excited for our first home together. It didn’t take long for our excitement to turn into disgust. On the day of closing, many things throughout the house were unfinished or VERY poorly put together. The house was filthy and there was still construction waste/debris in the yard and garage. The sod that they put in was already half dead because it had been sitting on pallets for over a week, and after it was laid (around April 23rd) it remained unwatered for two weeks due to irrigation not functioning. It is now 7/9/21 and the sod still has yet to recover. It is embarrassing because their poor craftsmanship makes me look like I can’t care for a yard. The garage door did not function due to improper install, the front door and garage access door seals fit incorrectly, letting pests in. I have already had to deal with black widows. Before closing (April 27th) there were multiple light fixtures with no lightbulbs. I have been asking for the proper Edison light bulbs since closing and still don’t have them. The upgraded kitchen cabinets have a horrible finish, and I have been waiting since closing to receive new cabinet doors. The upgraded granite countertops had scratches and were covered in dried sealant. The luxury vinyl plank is damaged in multiple places and completely buckled in a 4’x4’ area, and buckled in many other spots. The “flooring company” Classic Floors” has been out 3 times now to attempt to repair the floors. All three times, they did not bring enough material, and damaged more planks AND my property in the process. I am still waiting for a finished floor (7/9/21) Many of the interior doors are damaged, and I am still waiting for replacements. There are lumps under the carpet throughout the carpeted rooms, and they left the tack strip to where you can step on it through the carpet. The driveway edges are already cracking and crumbling for no reason. The lot is improperly graded, causing standing water to pool up at the base of the foundation. I can’t even mow my side yard because it has had standing water for over a month. These are only a few examples. Customer service and construction are very slow to respond to issues. I closed on 4/27 and it is now 7/9 and not even half of the issues have been resolved. The overall lack of craftsmanship, communication, care, and false promises makes me 100% regret buying from KB. You would think that maybe a veteran finally returning home would get better treatment than this. As it stands now, I openly recommend everybody I talk to, as well as you reading this, to STAY AWAY FROM KB HOME!!!!! And if you don’t, be sure to have plenty of time to waste, because you will constantly have contractors coming out to your house to make “repairs”. If KB is reading this, I’m sure you know who I am. Save yourself the heartache and look elsewhere. Workmanship is poor and sloppy. Never knew we would have so many issues with our brand new home. The community is great which is the only redeeming quality. It’s just unfortunate the home quality does not reflect the price you pay.

I can't say kb in general, but definitely the people running the show in the neighborhood where my home was built . The worst workmanship I have ever seen..... Like there are so many problems with this home I wish I could give it back. The people they contract with are not professional in anyway. So many corners cut, my slab was jack hammered open 3 times because they did the plumbing wrong ... I could go on and on . Stay away from KB homes.
