Overall process was long and frustrating not KB’s fault but our Bank loan process. Overall experience with builder was great. House was ready to move in. There a few things that need to be fixed after move in that we haven’t received any response or done yet.

Overall, I'm happy with the home itself and have no regrets. It's not the *highest quality* home out there, but, for what it cost, I can't complain too much. That's not to say that the quality is abysmal -- it's a very decent home that looks and feels good and is about worth what I paid. However, the closing process was awful. To be clear, the KB Team responsible for the building and completion of the home was great: I was given timely and accurate updates and the home itself was completed in time to meet a potential close date that would have worked well with my schedule. The most frustrating home building experience I've ever had.

We love our home, but the process to get into it was frustrating. Putting aside supply chain issues that are out of anyone's control, we were jerked around by KB throughout the construction process and communication was inconsistent. The lender they push you to use had poor customer service. The house wasn't ready at closing, and we're still trying to get the last outstanding issue finished. It felt like they were trying to crank out more homes than they're able to do and we fell into the cracks. It doesn't matter how many times they apologize to me, I still will not recommend this builder.

I have recently been having to deal with a gap in the insurance covers that was supposed to be paid by the lender/title company causing me to have to be wasting time on the phone because someone dropped the ball on your end. Not very pleased with this. I am not the first person that has bought a home which required wind and hail coverage so I’m pretty sure this company has dealt with knowing that there is no grace period with a new policy and so you all should have paid the policy on the due date as specified on all the paperwork that was sent to you days prior to closing. The quality of the house is not matching with the quality that I saw in the show unit. The basic option for kitchen cabinets is very cheap and not made from durable wood or timber. It was a manufactured wood and easy to break. The plumbing features are not durable compared to the price that I paid for. All my doors are scratched during construction and the builder did not replace them. Instead they just repaired them and I had to accept it because the construction was behind schedule and I didn’t want to delay the turnover process. My realtor was the one who told me about the builder. Signing for my home in the beginning was a breeze. But after I signed, it took months before they finally began building my home. Then, they switched the head builder for my home 3 times. I would never really get any updates on my home and how it was coming along. Not a great experience as a FTHB. Salesman just wanted to make a sale and at times was not prompt in answering my questions or concerns. The project manager was worse. Unprofessional and unwilling to work with me until it was nearing closing time. Pushed back closing more than five times and I was very patient about it but the project manager wanted to blame me. Thankfully my loan officer understood how this particular KB PM worked and helped me out so I did not have to pay for a rate lock extension. Would look elsewhere if you're a FTHB. Tom was good at helping me with my walk through. He also was patient in answering all of my questions regarding caring for items in my home. As for the rest of it- I wish my buying experience only on my enemy or my ex. Everything is a RUSH! Politeness is out the door when questions are asked. I did not design my house, but I love it. My experience with the sales and construction side was great…. However, I advise anyone not to use kb lender they were horrible I don’t care what incentive their offering go with your own lender. They dropped the ball so many times never took accountability. They will go radio silent on you at the end and leave you wondering what’s going on. I had to put my foot down and threaten to call corporate. The contractors they use are subpar. Once you move into the home getting someone out to fix anything is a nightmare. Make sure that your mortgage rates are locked to the max amount of time, my home took longer to get it ready and my mortgage rate went high. Make sure that you record or have a proof of things that they promise to get it fixed before your closing. Keep in touch with your sales person to get updates on your new home and make few visits during construction so you can see how your house is being built when it's in construction process.

The “brand new” home as well as the whole process was rushed and not completed by the time we were moved in. It took longer than expected to build the home as well which made this process a little frustrating. The house looks nice though given everything else.

Not the best house for the money

For the money paid for house, I think the quality and workmanship is a bit lacking. Also, we picked a larger lot to install a pool in the future. But due to the extreme excavation to the back yard (which we discovered was necessary after the house build was well underway) to facilitate drainage. We may not be able to install a pool or even afford to install a pool. Not too happy with KB Homes right now.

Problems from the day one. Decided to continue homebuying after they worked with us to fix problems. Then problems arose again after our walk through. Tried to sell us a home with broken cabinets. Had to write multiple emails up to vice president to get our problems fixed. Staff is untrustworthy and unprofessional. We love our home but what it took to get it right was ridiculous.

Sales was incompetent. Kept messing up the documents, blamed us, and never looked into the possibility that the problem was on her end, which it always was. Worse, value was low. Did NOT include refrigerator, washer, dryer which many but not all homebuilders supply. Did NOT include sprinkler system, garage door opener, ceiling fans, cabinet handles which every other homebuilder that I toured did supply. Good quality (which is why I bought) and good location but no amenities at all.

Expecting a wonderful home building experience but had major issues with sales staff and construction. Construction quality was substandard from the framers to the finishers. Walls are not square. Everything was done half way right. Had to stay on top of them everything step of the way and we still had issues. Poor communication from sales staff and construction manager. Great experience with KB Mortgage and Design Center staff. We love the floor plan and the location but so disappointed in construction experience.

Customer service has done a poor job on fixing a simple landscaping that I have had from the moment I moved into my new house. The company that KB does their landscaping with has damaged some of my property and has failed continuously to resolve a simple issue. I am going on two months in living in my new house and have yet to fully enjoy my yard. My experience in purchasing my first house has been stressful and disappointing.
