The overall experience was a shade above terrible. As expected, the home took approximately 12 months from signing the contract to closing. For nearly 8-9 months we dealt with an unresponsive Construction Manager - named Scott and a similarly unresponsive Sales Rep named Bob (Ok. Bob was a tad-bit more responsive but very unreliable). Not only were they unresponsive, they were unclear in their communications creating much heartache and the potential loss of a sell. The only reason we remained on contract with the purchase of this home, is because of Brandon. Unbeknownst to us, Brandon was assigned as our new Construction Manager the last two-three months of this process drastically improving our experience. I feel confident in saying that had Brandon been our Construction Manager from the onset, KB would have gotten better ratings. Brandon was professional, honest, and understanding of our concerns and issues. He immediately addressed issues that had been outstanding for nearly 6 months (i.e. when there's a hole in your brand new roof during the winter and spring months, that's an issue that should be taken care off immediately). There are not enough words to express how outstanding the KB staffers were from beginning to end during the home buying process. Post purchase, they are still going beyond the call of duty by addressing my questions and being accountable for any discovered defects. KB has definitely been on my side. Thank you KB Fam!

This had to be one of the most stressful purchase and move we had ever experienced. I’ll start at the beginning with the loan officer, our loan officer matt gave us some expectation he was not able to keep. He was very unreliable, he would say I’ll call you and he would never do. During the whole process we were left in the dark, he was more worried about his personal business he had on the side than his actual job. We had no idea where our loan was in the process and on top of that we stressed to him the importance of setting our closing date because we were moving from Delaware to Texas and we had to move our closing date two times because he dropped the ball on turning in our documentation into the processing department even though we kept calling him to see if our paperwork had already been sent to the processing department to get our loan in the process. We were told that to compensate for the loan officers negligence we would be getting a garage door opener and that has yet to be installed in our home. The fun does not end here, my family and I get to Texas and not only was our house not ready the quality of craftsmanship has left me dumbfounded. There are so many discrepancies in the home and even though I have reached out to the project manager at least once a week I feel like we are left on the back burner since already moved in, not to mention we have been living here for over a month and have yet to be able to set up trash service or water under my name because the certificate of occupancy has not been released. This experience has really taken me by surprise because my wife and I had a purchased KB home in the past and the quality of craftsmanship was high and the experience was smooth but now it feels like a lot of corners were cut. ... Process was quick and overall please with the home construction. Just be weary if a new home build starts next to yours... Workers are not tidy and having alot of people around all the time that you have to pickup after... Plus regular porta potty s that get used frequently next to your home. Probably would have chosen a more developed area for next time.

Finance through the entire process was a nightmare, zero communication. I’m a first time buyer and they just uploaded more and more documents with ZERO explanation of what I was supposed to be signing. Finally after a very serious email threatening to back out of the entire thing someone reached out to me and basically told me they just need me to sign, It’s not really important stuff right now, when it is they’ll explain it. Keep in mind these are all financial documents. I put my earnest money down Jan 29th, on a “move in ready” home, my closing was listed as end of march. After pushing it out a week at a time with no updates I finally closed may 5th. Final items on construction list were done hastily and some had to be redone multiple times. Very little work done all of feb or march. Bulk done in April and with most getting finished the final 2 weeks. The entire process had me wanting to back out but I felt like there wasn’t really a better option financially. It was the best price for the size I needed including preowned homes. My lease was ending and I had put all my faith into this endeavor. They had to call in Mario, a different construction supervisor the last two weeks because of how unhappy I was, it is because of him that I went through with it. He communicated and actually explained the delays and seemed like he knew what he was talking about. I closed with only 4 days to move myself from my 2300 sq ft rental and have it inspection ready. Things still need to be fixed that weren’t caught during the final walk. There was a hold up with the electric company that prevented me from switching services for an entire month. I don’t believe the caulk that the painters used during touch up was the right kind or maybe because they painted over it immediately all the paint cracked and it does not look like the what I expected from a BRAND NEW 300k+ home. Most touch ups look like the landlord special. They told me they would do a courtesy paint touch up after everything was moved in. I basically declined it because I had to unpack after work every day and after a month I’m still not done, and after seeing how the last touch up went I’ll just take care of it myself. Flat paint was used throughout the entire house and I was told if you get something on the wall don’t try to wipe it off just paint over it or you’ll rub off the texture. All in all the quality is not even close to what I expected for the price but I just told myself that’s the best you’re going to get in this economy, and I can fix things myself and make them better. ... Great staff and exceptional service

KB Home is not a custom builder, but does offer a great selection of options at a price point that many can afford. Very nice open floor plans and great looking communities.

If you use your own lender, and not KB's preferred lender, they will not negotiate price of the house nor will they pay any closing costs on behalf of the buyer. We're an active duty military family and it didn't matter because we wouldn't use their lender. Take note that this is how they treat military. So once we told KB Home we would not be using their preferred lender everything went downhill. We weren't treated like serious buyers even though our lender was waiting on KB to provide information to be able to give us the clear to close only one week after going into contract. Our lender had a hard time getting that information. It took them weeks of multiple emails and phone calls to finally get the requested information. And we were told as much that we were treated that way because we used our own lender. Again, buyers take note. Further, the communication between the sales rep, construction manager, and sales office is horrible at best. The project manager didn't even know we were in contract for the house until the week before closing. We were stonewalled at getting our inspector in on time for our projected close date at which KB told us if we waived the inspection they could close on our requested date. Shady but we insisted on our inspection and closing was delayed. Fortunately, we have an amazing lender that was able to extend our locked rate without us having to pay to extend. After closing, things got even worse and it has been a headache working with the construction crew to get blue tape items fixed. We're six weeks into our home and still have blue tape items not addressed along with the other items that the construction crew was supposed to fix but ended up making them worse. And I haven't even touched on the quality and craftsmanship of the house itself. There's so much more that I could write a dissertation on all of the issues, why we wouldn't buy another KB home, and would never recommend them to anyone. ... More

KB was easy to work with and answered every concern we had.

KB homes are great when it comes to to building houses. Furthermore, you get a great deal when you finance with them. I recommend KB to anyone who is interested to buy a solid beautiful modern house yet affordable.

Salesman Marvin was great, not pushy and made everything seem easy going and not stressful, and always available to answer any questions I had along the way. Once the walk through came around, Jacob was extremely helpful on insuring everything addressed will be taken care of, and so far has been on top of things, overall making my home buying experience less stressful, Glad to have people that care along the way with such a major purchase, thus making me glad I choose KB homes.

My home is beautiful and was very well built. In the first 45 days my list of very minor items that needed to be addressed were taken seriously, addressed immediately and coordinated well with me on timing to get the work done. Garret has been on the spot to get things completed to my satisfaction. Again, these were very minor issues in my situation but they were addressed quickly and professionally! Had a wonderful experience overall with KB homes, Adrian was fantastic, even after moving in he was such a great help. We spoke weekly and anytime I had a concern or question he answered right away and had great customer service.

We had never bought a newly built house…we were blessed to get in the phase and location we desired, the design experience was easy, and the build was fantastic! We have been in the house about 6 weeks and love it-it is no longer a house it is a home! Thank you KB!

Please don't get fooled by any of these people that work for KB Homes on promises that they don't deliver. Don't sign anything until you make sure it's done because these people only want what is coming to them and that is a bonus check on a great review that we give to them. These people put up a front of being good to you when in reality they are horrible very sad that KB Homes hires unprofessional staff to do such a sloppy job. Everything is an excuse to what they and their contractors do wrong so they don't take responsibility. Lose siding, damage cabinet doors, water coming in from rear door, flood damage from lose pipe, paint smudges everywhere, filthy house interior and exterior, sloppy tile work on flooring patch up on vinyl flooring horrible, terrible patch up and touch up on walls, back porch in terrible condition and the nasty paint job. Overall the one star rating should be ZERO that's how horrible the home and the KB home staff. ... More

Patrick, Excellent customer service from the sales team and project manager from start to finish. Quality of home for its value. The KB homes staff continues to reach out after closing asking if there is anything that needs their attention. The location is blocks away from Boerne lake.

I paid cash for my home. I let myself be rushed instead of making sure the issues with my home were taken care prior to closing. I have paint splatters on the lvp flooring; on the concrete outside my home; paint on the carpeting; hot water heater didn’t work, and though I let the super know it took a bit for it to be repaired by the plumbing company; the cabinet in the master bathroom was not repaired; the cabinet molding was not replaced; all the bathtubs are scratched; the cultured marble in the secondary bathroom is chipped; the kitchen sink is scratched like it was used by the builder and someone tried to clean but used an abrasive which scratched the stainless steel. So yes, I’m not a happy customer. Oh, and the Sheetrock in the garage has screw holes all over. Probably a screw up from another house. The list goes on… ... More
