My experience with KB Home has not been good. First, our closing date kept being moved. This cost us more money for rental trailer. We drove to Texas from Los Angeles expecting to enter a "move-in ready" home. It was far from ready for anyone to move in! Our Toilet was not attached in one bathroom and the times underneath were all broken from someone apparently working on it. Our second bathroom had a sign on the Toilet that said "do not use". Our tile floor was a mess! There are chips in many of the times. The times are uneven and unevenly spaces along with slopes in the living room. All of the base board needed to be repainted. Our venta were put in wrong and the ceiling was cut to large to fit the venta it, but no one fixed it so we had gaps in the ceiling and extra nail holes. Some of the Doors including the front door did not close correctly. The backyard was full of trash. It also had an area that was sinking. I could go on and on about all of the issues, but I believe you get the point. I wrote emails with pictures to the corporate office and they responded quickly. However, we have been in the home for almost two months and we still have people coming to fix issues. If I would have known about the quality of work I would have gone with a different builder. I reported the sliding door is damaged and installed backwards, someone came to look at it and I never heard from anyone again. I had an access panel to space under the stairwell installed and found it was completely full of scrap sheet rock. That just screams we don’t car … why not properly discard scraps instead of leaving them hidden in my house, what else is hidden in my house? I dare not look in the attic. Overall the workmanship in my opinion lacks pride. My opinion has gone down since I moved in.

Finance through the entire process was a nightmare, zero communication. I’m a first time buyer and they just uploaded more and more documents with ZERO explanation of what I was supposed to be signing. Finally after a very serious email threatening to back out of the entire thing someone reached out to me and basically told me they just need me to sign, It’s not really important stuff right now, when it is they’ll explain it. Keep in mind these are all financial documents. I put my earnest money down Jan 29th, on a “move in ready” home, my closing was listed as end of march. After pushing it out a week at a time with no updates I finally closed may 5th. Final items on construction list were done hastily and some had to be redone multiple times. Very little work done all of feb or march. Bulk done in April and with most getting finished the final 2 weeks. The entire process had me wanting to back out but I felt like there wasn’t really a better option financially. It was the best price for the size I needed including preowned homes. My lease was ending and I had put all my faith into this endeavor. They had to call in Mario, a different construction supervisor the last two weeks because of how unhappy I was, it is because of him that I went through with it. He communicated and actually explained the delays and seemed like he knew what he was talking about. I closed with only 4 days to move myself from my 2300 sq ft rental and have it inspection ready. Things still need to be fixed that weren’t caught during the final walk. There was a hold up with the electric company that prevented me from switching services for an entire month. I don’t believe the caulk that the painters used during touch up was the right kind or maybe because they painted over it immediately all the paint cracked and it does not look like the what I expected from a BRAND NEW 300k+ home. Most touch ups look like the landlord special. They told me they would do a courtesy paint touch up after everything was moved in. I basically declined it because I had to unpack after work every day and after a month I’m still not done, and after seeing how the last touch up went I’ll just take care of it myself. Flat paint was used throughout the entire house and I was told if you get something on the wall don’t try to wipe it off just paint over it or you’ll rub off the texture. All in all the quality is not even close to what I expected for the price but I just told myself that’s the best you’re going to get in this economy, and I can fix things myself and make them better. ... Our sales person Anthony was great. Brian from construction was very helpful in getting our home finished Lionel loan officer helped us through tremendously. Underwriting needs a new team with compassion towards homebuyers.

Should had built with another builder in different neighborhood.

The quality of the work and materials are subpar. Poor craftsmanship and attention to detail. Generally sloppy and unsafe at points. They rush the builds using the cheapest subcontractors and it shows. Thoroughly disappointed.

Workman ship sub par, Look at long wait times as in days to get anything fix. New homes look good after a month thing get noticed that are not done or falling apart. Issues brought to builder and nothing gets fixed. Would not recommend KBH do to price and pore build quality. Customer service 3 out of 10 they do nothing.

The reasons for my low scores are the finish quality of the house, the last sales rep experience, not being able to do a change order, and the lack of response to finish with the remaining issues with the house after living in the home for almost two months now. The lender experience was the best part; working with Lionel was truly helpful. The studio was also fun, and the only downside was not being able to make a change request even though it took over a year for the house to be done. The biggest issues I had were with my sales rep and the complete quality of the home. I had three different sales reps, and the last one was the worse. Joshua was never on the same page with the construction manager and didn't provide any updates for me. I had to reach out on my own. The completion date kept getting pushed back, and I needed to sign on the house to not lose my rate without the house being done. I was ok with that; only once that happened, I wasn't able to do a walk-through, and there were still many issues with the house after being in the house for almost two months. The construction manager Tony was at first responsive, but once the survey results came through and after a month, he ghosted me. The new customer service rep has come through to see what needs to be done but has yet to send anyone on the team to finish the painting, finish my cabinets, chalking, etc. I'm glad I did a separate inspection because I had leaking issues, the heater wasn't working, the main bathroom was clogged with construction debris, and a lot of other things that they pointed out for me. ... This home buying experience has been horrible and frustrating. The quality of workmanship has been poor. I have been in the house for almost 2 months. I’m on the third week of the kitchen island being rebuilt due to it not being level or square. I have a sink hole that keeps forming in the front yard. Some cabinets are cracked and need to be replaced. Plus a list of other issues. Contractors are not showing up to fix issues on days they are supposed to wasting my wife’s and I’s time. At this time I cannot recommend going with KB Homes.

If we didn't call every few days we would have not know any info about our house. We had to stay on top of our build to make sure things were done correctly

If it was up to KB Homes we wouldn't be having this review, because they denied us. Thanks be to our God and his excellent greatness we went with another lender (Directions Home Loans) and got approved. We were advised that KB even questioned them for approving us. With the building my wife and I came by almost every weekend Saturday or Sunday after church or both. We watched houses being worked on and no one working on ours. We saw houses that came up after ours and get driveways poured before us. It seemed as if that didn't care or just get this over with type work ethic. We had a few projected move in dates but when we did get in the builder promised to make it all right and he has been true to his word. It's been over a month and every week contractors have been in and out repainting, replaced broke windows, realine crooked cabinets, repair damaged walls and door frames, fixtures etc.. Clean spills on carpet and floors, replace chipped and missing brick, waiting on back ordered parts... Things we picked out to go in the house; something's, what you see is not what you get! But they don't tell you until you question the builder where is this or that and they tell you it doesn't come like what they showed you. I bad part of it all is, this is suppose to be a exciting and joyous occacion, though they can't take away the joy and fact of God blessing us with the house, when I look at my wife's face and I don't see the glo, joy, excitement etc., but discuss, frustration, disappointment, that's what hurts the most! Be sure to research the area your community is being or was built on. Get third party inspections cause the KB construction workers don’t take pride in there work. Keep a list of every repair and how long KB takes to fix it. Tiles started cracking in the second day of moving in the house. I been living here two months now and there are cracks all over the floors and walls in the house, not to mention varies other build issues. The construction manager will submit repair request for the first 45 days after you move in but after that good luck on getting anyone to come repair things. I currently got blue tape all over my walls, unpainted areas, and cracked tiles to name a few things while I wait for KB to give me a date in when the repairs will take place. I can’t even decorate for the holidays cause I will have to move it all when the repair guys come over. Go with a different builder if you have not already signed the contract ... More

Buying this home is absolutely the biggest regret I have because it’s been nothing but constant headaches since the day I did my inspection. I was told when to schedule a third party inspection and both times the construction team was not prepared for it. I was told by the project manager that my expectations were to high and no house would ever be perfect, and I needed to have realistic expectations when trying to get the crooked wall, chunks of missing cabinets, and exposed nails fixed. I was told several times this is above model standard, yet I have no ability to do laundry, water sitting in walls growing mold, broken window, and it’s taken weeks to get a solution. My realtor was gaslit and ignored when addressing concerns before I showed up after closing and was told she couldn’t address the issues. I’ll never buy another KB home and I won’t recommend anyone I care about to either. I’ve had more issues in the brand new home than I ever did in a rental property. ... More

Materials used are cheap and coming apart. KB waits until day before 30 day inspection to try and fix things. They never came back to fix the rest of our issues

I love my house but it’s low quality work

The overall experience was a shade above terrible. As expected, the home took approximately 12 months from signing the contract to closing. For nearly 8-9 months we dealt with an unresponsive Construction Manager - named Scott and a similarly unresponsive Sales Rep named Bob (Ok. Bob was a tad-bit more responsive but very unreliable). Not only were they unresponsive, they were unclear in their communications creating much heartache and the potential loss of a sell. The only reason we remained on contract with the purchase of this home, is because of Brandon. Unbeknownst to us, Brandon was assigned as our new Construction Manager the last two-three months of this process drastically improving our experience. I feel confident in saying that had Brandon been our Construction Manager from the onset, KB would have gotten better ratings. Brandon was professional, honest, and understanding of our concerns and issues. He immediately addressed issues that had been outstanding for nearly 6 months (i.e. when there's a hole in your brand new roof during the winter and spring months, that's an issue that should be taken care off immediately). Brandon single handedly saved this sell. The KB's closing process (not included in the ratings) was also a mess, but because it's not on this rating scale I won't go into those issues. ... More

My home took 14 months to "complete". I'm STILL missing a doorknob, but of the knobs I do have, 3 have randomly fallen off. The ENTIRE upstairs creaks incesantly. There is a crack in my ceiling, 2 doors don't close completely, water pools in the backyard, porch is missing bricks, roof has issues, siding, large space between the cabinet and wall, no caulking in areas, flooring is cut poorly (it doesn't even meet the wall in some areas). In the amount of time it took to complete this house, its shameful to have so many issues. But I digress... I'm actually really sad about thinking about it. The new Superintendent (I think that's his title), Duane is been made aware and is working to rectify issues... I hope he doesn't leave or get moved. He's been helpful. So we bought a house 7 Oct. we did not like the experience with KB. When they offered a high APR & wanted us to buy down the rate. We went to our lender that offered way lower APR but then KB wanted to match it but wanted my lender to do a promise letter. Neither lenders wanted to do this so this took up time. We had refused to go with KB if they were going to match it because of they could match it now then they could have matched it in the beginning. Unfortunately we had to go with KB because they refused to give us the $4000 rebate and closing cost. Then it was a rush to do the walk through of the house. We closed on 7 Oct. walk through was 4 Oct. 2nd walk through was 6 Oct & did this not give them enough time to fix thing we found or that the inspector found. We got, “yes, that got fixed” when it didn’t. The AC gate was bent and that didn’t get replaced during the initial, 2nd walk through or the 30 day walk through. So this makes me doubt that they got any of the other things fixed. We are still waiting for things to be fixed and we are two months into living in this house. ... More

Bad!! Cheap materials; broken promises. Flooded the building—both upstairs and downstairs. Electrical appliances/fixtures all messed up My water heater stopped working. Bad!!! I’ll be building another in 2 yrs hopefully, but never KBHOMES.

Great floor plans...that's the only positive thing I can say. It took over a year from down payment to close for a 1647 sq ft single story house...which wasn't even totally complete when we moved in. This was my 4th new build and even the house built by a high school construction class was far superior in both materials and workmanship. Definitely would NOT recommend a KB home.

Hime looks nice but I wouldn't recommend a family or friend to KB HOME. Materials are cheap.. only been a month had to call for maintenance at at least 10 tomes. Walls feel cheap, boiler/Hot water went out 3 times. New floors I payed for out of POCKET have stains, Carpet is not installed correctly. When we did walked threw didn't really pay attention or can notice any of this until moving in. They installed cabinets doors month later. For a new home has roaches, spiders i don't know how and lots of ANTS I mean a lot... First day move in. Just over all horrible. Plus paying so much for this? Yeah no.. not happy.. ... More

So if you're a 1st time homebuyer with no options, then this may be the right builder for you. Here's my process from beginning to end. Go into the sales office and take a look at the houses and decide if you want to buy or not. After that you get put on a waiting list where their mortgage officer takes at least a whole month to reach out to you after being told week after week from your sales rep that someone should be reaching out to you. Finally, the mortgage officer sees if you're qualified by giving you a ridiculous loan that sticks with you till closing day (so go with another lender). Then months go by before your sales rep finally reaches out to you to setup design studio appointments. The first appointment is virtual, so you'll have to go off your best guess if you want something or not based on pictures. Then second appointment is where you can see the material in your house in person; once all your choices, and you've paid up; you can't change anything. Even if they haven't started construction. Now the best part is the construction where you're excited to see how your house will turn out. You'll have to watch them build because they'll forget the things you've picked, so it's very important that you watch them closely. You get 2 reviews to see how far the house has come, and make suggestions/improvements. Now here comes to the closing process. Once you've signed off on your incomplete house (that they promise to fix); you get to close on it. After living in the house for 2 months you've come to find out that they won't fix the things they've promised to fix. For example, I've been out of a microwave for 2 months. There's some minor details I wish that were taken care of, but hey it was my mistake for trusting them. The house is nice, so that's why there's 2 stars instead of 1. ... More
